Biotex is gone! What can I replace it with?

My multi-pack of Biotex stain remover has been decimated by my DS and his white clothes obsession, and I've now discovered it's no longer available in the UK. This is tragic. Does anyone have any suggestions for a non-bleach stain remover (preferably enzymatic like biotex) which is not that appalling Vanish rubbish that doesn't work?

Dr brockman

Do you mean Dr Beckman? It's not for carpets, it's for general clothes washing - a presoak

I have come to terms with the fact I am just going to have to go over to Holland and bring some home with me.

SimonaRazowska · 05/08/2022 16:18

Haha yes dr Beckman

covid brain!

linspins · 02/12/2022 08:54

I want to know the exact same thing! Nothing else quite does the trick….

linspins · 02/12/2022 09:35

Had a shock at the price then saw that it says 8pc….Does that mean you get 8 boxes, do you think?

MissFritton65 · 02/12/2022 23:42

@linspins I think so but the shipping costs appear to be £55!!!!

Daisy62 · 02/12/2022 23:46

what I liked about Biotex was that it came in a cardboard box. Everything else is in a plastic tub.

crisisofconfidence · 03/12/2022 22:55

Napisan may do just as good a job?

Daisychain50 · 11/03/2023 11:52

I too am lost without Biotex - all my teatowels and pillowcases are looking sad and grey☹️. Vanish just doesn’t do it. Would anyone be interested in sharing postage to get some from Holland? I live in South Devon.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 11/03/2023 11:57

I have white towels, bedding and some clothes and have never used Biotex. I use biological detergent (Daz) with a scoop of Tesco own brand OxyPower for whites. I never wash any other colours with my whites, and everything is still white.

Gatekeeper · 11/03/2023 11:59

I don't think there is a substitute for Biotex...nothing works as well :(

ilovemyspace · 11/03/2023 12:22

Try here - www.dutchexpatshop.com/en/biotex-washing-powder-hand-wash-and-soak.html

Shipping seems to be cheaper!

kazja · 05/10/2023 22:14

I started using bicarbonate of soda . Apparently an aspirin in you wash works wonders as well. Good luck

catskittens · 10/10/2023 18:36

yes vanish is rubbish i dont know how they have the cheek to advertise it's claims and the price

anyway im the same as BatshitCrazyWomani soak DS socks and tea towels in a old washing up bowl with Aldi bio (was a Ariel girl before) for 24hrs and use the bio powder and a scoop of Sainsburys stain remover.just whites or nearly white on a white wash and add warm water to have a really good clean as i found machines just dont produce enough water and its very satisfying seeing the water giving it a good wash

now i am aware i sound like a 50's housewife but no nicer feeling than seeing the white towels etc clean on the line

NipLash · 10/10/2023 19:00

I live in Scandinavia and we have Biotex here, but I always assumed it was just what Persil is known as here - the logo and font are the same?

CMOTDibbler · 10/10/2023 19:08

Napisan is great

Melroses · 12/10/2023 17:42

The powders work well, but biotex doesn't have the bleaching agents and optical brighteners. Sometimes it is useful to have the detergent and enzymes without them.

Songlines · 12/10/2023 17:46

I use mineral bleach / sodium percarbonate. Brand name Violets, but I just buy generic from eBay.

DOmeafavor · 12/10/2023 17:54

You can just use biological washing powder as a prewash. That’s what I started doing for bloodstains after Biotex disappeared. Works perfectly.

SomethingOnce · 24/10/2023 16:44

I’ve just run out of Biotex. This is a sad day.

Did we get anywhere working together to import expensive white powder from the Netherlands? 🤔

Daisychain50 · 25/10/2023 11:54

No, Im afraid we didn’t so I bit the bullet and went ahead and ordered some. It will last me a while but so happy to have my Biotex back. i’ve been using it for 30 years or so and there is nothing on the market to beat it!
