Dishwasher recommendations

Please send me your (recent) dishwasher recommendations!

I am replacing a Bosch, which I've been happy with, but not sure which one to go for. Any features that I should be looking for in your opinion?

Would like something energy (and water) efficient, as these costs are only going to go up - but only the super expensive ones seem to be A rated (I know the ratings have changed), but it's unclear in the descriptions what else I am paying for?!? And not sure if the extra costs is worth what seems to be a relatively small difference in electricity use.

----

We can see this thread is a little old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best dishwasher page with plenty of great options, including info on energy ratings. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

Avoid Candy. We have one and it is nothing but trouble.

I have always bought Bosch in the past and they have lasted years.

However, latest one only lasted 4 years and I never felt the quality was as good as previously.

Decided to take a risk and bought a Hisense which is brilliant and just been voted the most economical to run by Which Magazine. Also quite a bit cheaper than Bosch but still really sturdy.

Oh that's interesting. My current Bosch is 11 years old and has been excellent. Hope it's not yet another brand who gave reduced quality and can no longer be relied on!

I'll have a look at Hisense and see if I can get hold of the which reports.

I have a Miele, but before that I had an LG. I hated that LG and it gave hassle after hassle. Love the Miele, but I do realize they aren't the most affordable option.

I don't mind paying a premium for a better and more long lasting appliance but have been completely put off Miele by their horrendous customer service when my Miele washing machine arrived stinking of oil. I've since read lots of other similar stories. If you sell a premium product, you need to back that up with premium service. I want to know if I put my hand in my pocket that if something goes wrong it will be dealt with.

Do NOT get a Sharp. More than a grain of rice and it clogs up and stops working so you have to ferret arrive in its innards to ungunk it

And each settings takes 3+ hours

Tbh we always by the cheapest mid range machine made by a decent brand with the best warranty, normally John Lewis paying extra for the 5 year cover. Nothing ever send to last that long these days . .

We have a relatively new Bosch and it is fine. Cleans well even on the eco cycle and has a cleaning cycle too.

Much much better than other brands we've used at relatives etc.

Ours is AEG and haven't had any problems. Previous was Siemens and that lasted 20 + years.

Ours had good reviews and I went for - quick wash programme, upper cutlery tray rather than basket and auto door open.

in my old house I had an integrated Bosch silent system, it was brilliant. Very energy efficient. I chose it over an entry level Miele. The new house has an old integrated Hotpoint so will use it until I redo the kitchen but will definetly look at the Bosch range again.

I've got a zanussi and am very pleased with it. Had it five years so far with no issues and I like that it has a quick cycle (30 mins) and an eco cycle as well as the regular cycles that take much longer and use more water.

I heard really good things about Haier which is an American top end brand bought by Hoover. It is supplied by Costco which always make me think quality. We already have the washer and although we had a problem with it which took a few visits to repair, each workman that attended were all gobsmacked it had broken and spoke highly of the quality and longevity compared with other Hoover/Whirlpool makes

We have a neff one, purchased last year. Has been great, always use the quick 55min cycle and have had no problems with it all. We live in a hard water area so make sure we use salt and I clean filters regularly. Have no reason not to recommend.

I have a Miele one. With the autodos system. It’s not as good as my old Miele one-lots of visits from the Miele Man. I’ve really gone off Miele as a brand, I’ve had major issues with my 1 year old washing machine as well. My 15 yr old dishwasher was still working well when we replaced it for an integrated model. Totally regret doing that!

We bought the essentials Currys dishwasher to keep us going for a year while I was doing my PGCE. 8 years later it's still going so we haven't replaced it. We had a Bosch in a rented house before that and there's no difference between the two

Any Neff that'll fit. Doesn't have to be the bells-and-whistles model, the fairly entry-level ones do the job.

We have a 5 year old Bosch and whilst it cleans pretty well and gets used daily, it has just required a rather expensive fix (£300) to get the buttons working again.

It was reasonably expensive when I bought it but it is almost 50% higher again to buy the same model now. At that price, I am not convinced it's worth it to be totally honest.

I will say that the repairs, whilst costly, were very easy to organise with Bosch.

Best one we've ever had is the Miele active SC.
