I have countless cleaning products but ideally I want to whittle it down to just a few.

Can you tell me what your essentials are and what you use them for please?

Sorry no help . Following for ideas...

IstayedForTheFeminism · 16/04/2022 14:39

I use Koh for everything. With a tiny bit of zoflora if I feel the need.

tealandteal · 16/04/2022 14:44

Same as pp, Koh for nearly everything, although I have a toilet cleaner and a different spray for the bathroom. I have some cloths that are brilliant for cleaning windows/mirrors with just water.

EatsQuorn · 16/04/2022 14:46

Why do you find Koh good ? I've recently gone for it , and tbh , it's barely better than spraying water on your surface ?

lilahbelle · 16/04/2022 14:47

I bought into the hype with Koh but I found it absolutely rubbish on anything that was actually dirty!

BookHermitBlack · 16/04/2022 14:48

Zoflora diluted in spray bottles or in a bucket of water, my nan taught me this 30 odd years ago. Cleans most things.
White vinegar for windows.
Bleach as a last resort, but hardly ever use this.
Soda crystals for drains /adding to laundry.

Solosunrise · 16/04/2022 15:00

Cif to clean the bath and hob.
Otherwise I clean most things with hot water and a bit of fairy liquid
I'm a flylady fan and I learnt from her that it's less about what products you use and more about actually using them.
Cleaning products won't clean your home but routines and a bit of elbow grease will.
Occasionally I'll blast a but of toilet cleaner inside the rim, but day to day I keep it clean by dropping a bit of liquid soap/shampoo/fairy liquid in and giving it a swish round (since MN I use a cloth, because I can get into the U-bend, but I'm not against a loo brush)

Solosunrise · 16/04/2022 15:01

'It' being the toilet, sorry

MoonSpoonSoon · 16/04/2022 15:03

-Citric acid
-Homemade spray (vinegar, distilled water, washing up liquid, essential oils)
-Washing up liquid (ecover)

mubarak86 · 16/04/2022 15:03

Bleach, fairy liquid and a homemade spray bottle of diluted tea tree oil and eucalyptus that I use on kitchen surfaces.

Blossomandbee · 16/04/2022 15:10

Method watermint antibac bathroom cleaner is brilliant on glass and for anything shiny.

Hawaymanyoushite · 16/04/2022 15:13

Fairy liquid, water and a drop of zoflora with water in spray bottle for kitchen and bathroom. Pink stuff for tough jobs, zoflora for floors and bleach for toilet. Even use the spray on windows with micro fibre cloth.

LolaStrange · 16/04/2022 15:15

Use bar keepers friend for anything that needs a proper scrub like sinks and soap rings around the bath. much cheaper than CIf, it's a powder so a bottle goes a long way.
wastedtwenties · 16/04/2022 20:30

What about oven cleaning? I seem to have a few things for this but not really found the holy grail

I love zoflora so will defo get a bottle and dilute it.

I'm not a fan of all purpose products- I think they are a bit like 2 in 1 shampoo+conditioner, in that they do an average job at each bit of the task. Better buy separates.

Concestor · 16/04/2022 21:06

Washing up liquid
CIF
Bleach
Method antibac spray
Window cleaner
Kilrock limescale remover

That's all I use for all cleaning, no need for anything else

A580Hojas · 16/04/2022 21:09

Washing up liquid.

Method kitchen cleaner.

Method bathroom cleaner.

Loo cleaner.

Mr sheen.

Glass cleaner.

Wooden floor cleaner.

2manycats · 16/04/2022 21:17

Kitchen:
Washing up liquid
Method anti bac spray
Bathroom:
Method bathroom spray
Pink stuff paste

Misc: Flash liquid for floors/bathroom
E cloths (general use ones for most things including damp dusting, window cloth for windows, glass cloth for drying in the bathroom).

I don’t understand Zoflora to clean with. It doesn’t actually clean - it’s a disinfectant so kills germs but has no surfactants to remove them and dirt. And the smell 🤢

GiantKitten · 16/04/2022 21:17

Method cleaners and Swedish dishcloths.

2manycats · 16/04/2022 21:19

Gah pink stuff goes under kitchen. I use it on my hob. Astonish oven cleaning paste is amazing but I buy that specially when it’s oven cleaning time.

GiantKitten · 16/04/2022 21:19

Oven Pride pretty good as a DIY. (But a man with a van does a much better job 🤷🏼‍♀️)
PenOrPencil · 16/04/2022 21:24

Diluted Flash in a spray bottle as a multi purpose cleaner, also use it for floors. Viakal as we live in a hard water area.
Diluted vinegar in a spray bottle for mirrors and windows.
Bleach for toilets.

Iwanttobeascoolasblueysdad · 16/04/2022 21:29

Just discovered Kinn lavender cleaning spray - smells SO good. And it’s eco friendly. So this, method bathroom spray, ecover loo cleaner and ecover or bio d washing up liquid. Also white vinegar spray and a 2p piece for limescale!

Iwanttobeascoolasblueysdad · 16/04/2022 21:30

Oh and bicarbonate of soda for cleaning the kitchen sink and also the silver bits of bathroom sinks - it’s amazing!

picklemewalnuts · 16/04/2022 21:39

Tell me about the 2p piece for limescale?

I'm trying to get down to two or three products, but that's harder because I only use a minimal amount of product very occasionally. I only need to be momentarily seduced by a new product and that's another year to go to cupboard nirvana.

Basically white/homemade vinegar/citrus enzyme, bicarb, washing up liquid are all I use, with various left over products for particularly stubborn jobs.

I use scrubby pads, wiper blades and brushes for better cleaning, rather than products.
