Is there a product that will clean my oven without me having to scrub anything?

Because I’m lazy and would rather claw my own eyes out than ever scrub an oven rack ever again.

Bumping in the hope someone says yes! I'm dreading cleaning ours after Christmas hate scrubbing the oven racks Grin

Sparklfairy · 10/12/2021 15:04

Hire someone? Grin

batmanladybird · 10/12/2021 15:04

Yes. I think it's from Lakeland you buy a massive tray and an evil chemical and put them in there and then it all flakes off so no scrubbing needed
But I paid a man to do mine yday

Lolololololol · 10/12/2021 15:07

Oven Pride. You put racks in a bag with chemicals, and then spread remaining chemicals over the glass, bottom, sides, leave for a few hours/over night, and then it just wipes off. And you just rince off the racks. Be careful though, it will burn if it touches your skin.

Winterfellismyhome · 10/12/2021 15:08

An oven cleaning company Grin

SpeckledlyHen · 10/12/2021 15:08

Oven pride - you get a big bag and shove them in with some serious chemical which actually works. I have used this multiple times in the past. I do however admit to paying someone to clean my oven last time as I couldn't be bothered.

SirChenjins · 10/12/2021 15:09

Oven Pride.

Along with HG Mould Remover Spray it's the best cleaning product ever. Just make sure you leave it on overnight for best results.

Taciturn · 10/12/2021 15:10

Biological washing powder.
Fill bath or large deep tray and boiling water and washing powder - soak overnight racks overnight
Make a thick paste, or use neat liquid to smear inside of over. Again, leave overnight.

@Sparklfairy

Hire someone? Grin
If I could afford it I would! It’s £40+ round this way! I’d like something in the cupboard I can just whack on every now and again.

Do Lakeland deliver? We don’t have that store here in NI.

Ooh more suggestions! Thank you. I have bio washing powder so can try that!

B&m sell oven pride. The horror stories of it burning peoples skin scare me so I just scrub but clean it every week so it's easy and quick rather than being burnt on

SirChenjins · 10/12/2021 15:42

If you wear normal Marigold type rubber gloves that cover your wrists you’ll be fine with Oven Pride - the blue ones it comes with don’t go up very far and it can sting your wrists a bit but just wash it off with cold water

Tomatobear · 10/12/2021 15:46

Potentially not helpful because it does require a tiny bit of scrubbing but..

Pink Stuff paste (I think it's called). Comes in a little tub and works absolute wonders. Seems to dissolve the cemented grease off

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 10/12/2021 15:49

Do you have a dishwasher? Even easier than the things with the plastic bags imo.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 10/12/2021 15:50

Bicarbonate of soda mixed into a paste gets everything off. Do it while the oven is warm. As long as you don't let the food & grease build up that's all you'll need apart from soapy water.

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 10/12/2021 15:51

I actually used pink stuff paste last night, it is good but it does require scrubbing and I have very low attention span for that Grin I got 2 racks done and then gave up on the third. It’s still sitting on the drainer. I had actually sprayed an oven spray and left it on for the 30 minutes advised on the can and I wasn’t getting much joy even with scrubbing so I got the pink stuff paste out.

Yes I do! What do I do with them in the dishwater? Do I still need to spray them/cover them in stuff first?

This is marvellous stuff....we always leave racks in a bit longer than they say.....and you have to turn the bags around every few hours to get full coverage....but they come out sparkling
freshcarnation · 10/12/2021 15:57

I can get the removable parts clean enough in the dishwasher but the glass door is a massive effort.

friedeggandsauce · 10/12/2021 16:01

@Lolololololol I got my oven pride out to use but it says mustn't be used on glass. I was sure I used to use it on glass but I didn't want to risk it.

I have been wiping a dishwasher tablet over the glass but it's hard going!!!

I actually got the glass really clean with the pink stuff paste. Scrubbing involved but it worked very quickly.

Bicarb of soda and fairy liquid made into a paste and spread on. Leave over night then wipe out in the morning, then spray with white vinegar then wipe off.

Oven racks come up sparkling if you put them in the dishwasher (if you have one) when running a dishwasher cleaner through it. Take the racks out as soon as the machine finishes so they are still warm then the baked on colour just comes off with a gentle scrub and come up sparkling silver like new again.

Melroses · 10/12/2021 16:07

I found the dishwasher got rid of the grease but left the brown stuff. It does flake off easier though.

I used to cover the inside of the oven with bicarb paste - you can just wipe it with a cloth then. If you ever remember to. 🤔🙄

shinynewapple21 · 10/12/2021 16:09

I must have spent a fortune in the past ordering products advertised as such, read the chemical warnings and not used them . We have also paid professional to clean .

roses2 · 10/12/2021 16:10

This is £1 from Poundland and amazing. Wipe on, leave the trays to soak in a bag and wipe off the next day
