@CiaoForNiao

OP didn't ask what the oldest thing you own is though.

The title says "what have you had the longest" which isn't the same thing.

Yes, agree with you. People aren’t answering the question correctly.🙄 😂

We have loads of things that were wedding presents 27 years ago. Villeroy & Boch dinner service, Le Creuset casseroles, Prestige copper bottomed sauce pans, most of our cutlery.

My oval teak dining table and chairs, which I love, were bought my parents in the 60s.

I also have my Mum's 1950s sewing machine although I hardly use that and feel a bit guilty about it.

VittysCardigan · 04/10/2021 18:25

A desk that was bought for when i was a teen c1983. Now being used by my DS14. It was also used by his older sister who is now 33. It's been painted different colours over the years & spent an extended period relegated to the garage. It really has stood the test of time.

jarviscockatiel · 04/10/2021 18:25

My brother and I bought an electric bedside alarm clock from a jumble sale when I was about 9. It had a 2 pin plug. I'm now close to 49 and it's still going strong.

Bertiebiscuit · 04/10/2021 18:30

Moulinex electric coffee grinder - bought for me in 1974 as a wedding present - still going strong, also good for grinding up spices and nuts

Miisty · 04/10/2021 18:30

My Kenwood Chef before I got married in1974 and still doing a brilliant job of cakes

CovidCorvid · 04/10/2021 18:32

My fridge and freezer are both 20yo, bought when we moved to this house.

I also have some cow ornaments which I’ve had for over 30 years.

Chosennone · 04/10/2021 18:38

Took me a while to work this out. It's a Le Creust Griddle pan I got when I left my first temporary teaching job in 1999. It's still pristine and i remember them saying it would be.

hiredandsqueak · 04/10/2021 18:38

I have a chest of drawers in my spare room that my df bought for my sister's room in 1986. They aren't even solid wood just MDF and melamine but they are sound and have survived house moves and continuous use.

Chemenger · 04/10/2021 18:43

I have a Sabatier kitchen knife my mum bought me in 1982. Our wardrobe is 25 years old. They’re the oldest things I have, not counting inherited stuff.

80sMum · 04/10/2021 18:51

Our cutlery was a wedding present, from 43 years ago. I also still have a couple of tea towels from that time.
The kitchen was installed in 1991 and the oven, microwave, hob and extractor are all the original, 30-year-old ones.

poohaloo · 04/10/2021 18:53

A tin opener that I bought in 1991 😂
And a le cruset casserole dish I found in the street completely burnt inside also in 1991 must have been a good year 😂

poohaloo · 04/10/2021 18:54

@waybill

The bathroom fitter's been here 12 days, does that count? Grin
Lol 😂
Newoneagain20 · 04/10/2021 18:59

I have a Braun blender/mixer thing first brought & used for my eldest daughter when I started weaning her she is now 18 and a half years old! Still going strong and used regularly for chopping onions, mixing pancake mixes!!

thefirstmrsrochester · 04/10/2021 18:59

Cast iron skillet which came from my great grans house, which in turn came from her mums house, it’s at least 100 years old.

brewstew · 04/10/2021 19:17

I've had my toaster for 14 years and it was about 15 year old when I got it.
My washing machine is 10 years old.

I've got much older stuff but I haven't had it for as long as the above.

LynetteScavo · 04/10/2021 19:40

The sofas were the first thing DH and I bought together (he insisted on paying, I think
he thought I might dump him and run off with one, or something) They're still going strong 25 years on, and I have no intention of replacing them soon. They have had new coveres though.

DilemmaDelilah · 04/10/2021 19:51

Not counting any antique furniture etc. the oldest household implement I bought myself is my favourite kitchen knife, which is about 40years old. It's still probably the most valuable (to me) tool I have in my kitchen.

freeingNora · 04/10/2021 20:06

My iron a tefal going on 22 years

Thecazelets · 04/10/2021 20:19

A steamer trunk which I had in my student room in the 80s and still use as a coffee table.

clary · 04/10/2021 20:35

I have a pepper grinder that I use daily that was bought for me by an ex from uni (he was my bf at the time!) so it dates from about 1987. The frying pan I am just now cooking risotto in was given me by my dad, and he died in 1988. So both of those are more than 30 years old, as is my Le Creuset, also in v regular use.

I have older furniture but it's not always been mine!

yodaforpresident · 04/10/2021 20:40

Lots of old things. Most impressive though are my 34 year old Sony speakers which are now connected to the television to make it surround sound. They still sound amazing.

PanicBuyingSprouts · 04/10/2021 20:44

A chest of drawers that was my DGMs. She married in 1930.

Greytminds · 04/10/2021 20:46

@NotMyCat

Probably these soup mugs, I'm not sure when they are from! I use them all the time for my porridge and soup I also have my nans slow cooker which has an on/off switch and that's it Grin works perfectly, again not sure of age but I found one on eBay as "vintage" Grin
@NotMyCat these were from a token scheme at Esso petrol stations in the 80s! We had them and also some pasta bowls that my mum still uses.
yogafairy · 04/10/2021 20:47

I have a Pyrex jug that is scratched so much that the markings are no longer visible. It's 29 years old.
