Is Eufy going to get trapped?

Very executed at the impending arrival of our new Eufy 35c next week. Can any other owners tell me if he's likely to get stuck in what is quite a complicated house?

House is one floor, main area (lounge diner kitchen through to hall) is aLmost in the shape of a lower case t. There are two bedrooms on the lower edge of the right hand fork of the t and a bathroom on the other side. I guess I'm worried he's just going to get trapped bouncing around in one bedroom or only ever covering the main area and never entering the rooms.

Any experiences? Might I just have to give him directions to do a specific room for example or do they find their way into most areas if I set him off one a day?

@KingdomScrolls ooh I love the mapping! Simon doesn't do that for me!! How do you get that?

I'm delighted with him. We hoovered Saturday. There's only two of us and no pets and he bummed round Monday and today and picked up a shit load both days including a huge piece of popcorn (must be months old) and three big feathers?!

Had to rescue him after he became lodged on an errant wire. I panicked when I got the text and I was on a work call In my office but glad to see he just shut down until help arrived rather than set himself on fire (not sure why I imagined he would)

He also broke into the bathroom despite the shut door. Naughty Simon.

@BunnytheFriendlyDragon

I was going to start a thread about robovacs today about whether they work and which one to get

Sounds like you all like the Eufy!

Two days in and I want more. Like a little family of Eufies. I love him. Unfortunately I can't stop watching him when he works as he's very cute and clever which is playing havoc with my work hours.

Perhaps Simon is a vampire. My Roomba is haunted so it would be no surprise to me.

DespairingHomeowner · 21/09/2021 11:55

Eufy doesn't do mapping, its a random pattern but I've learned you can also get it to do an 'edge clean' which helps cover everywhere

I read reviews carefully & seems by far the best at this price point, I am quite pleased TBH

I am not sure if one should also give carpets a weekly vaccumm with a normal hoover - does anyone know?

Eufy seems to pick up quite well (esp vs my cordless dust buster) but perhaps not as well as a regular hoover - my question is more re maintaining carpets well, it is plenty clean enough

Ours is a G30 he just does the map thing every time he cleans. I also like the manual controls for torturing the cat, and changing the voice to scare DH

I want a mopping one next.....

I wasn't so sure about a mopping one, cos most of them just wipe a cloth around. But having had a robovac for 6 months I kept looking at mopping ones, took me about 3 months but I brought an irobot braava jet 250 and have been very pleased with it. I set it off 2 or 3 times a week on the hard floors which keeps on top of things enough.
Camrette · 21/09/2021 17:59

I have a mopping one but actually I rarely use that function because I use all the battery hoovering then by the time it’s charged there are bits all over the floor again so I need to hoover before I can mop…

Grellbunt · 21/09/2021 18:05

I can't imagine programming mine for the night time! Ours somehow managed to set itself off in the middle of the night recently and it was really eerie hearing it... I had to creep down and switch it off.

Chasingsquirrels · 21/09/2021 18:06

Lol, once I'm asleep I rarely wake up.

Grellbunt · 21/09/2021 18:09

It was going to seriously freak out the kids.. had to be quick. Still don't quite understand why it turned poltergeist on me. Maybe it's because I haven't named it!!!

We have two - upstairs and downstairs. Love them.

I've got a Vileda One which is really basic but I love it anyway. It doesn't have a wireless connection or a docking station, you just let him wander off and then when he runs out of juice (the battery is just OK, he can usually do about 5 rooms of our house before he runs out of puff) you need to go and find him and plug him in. But he was like 89 euros. I put him on when I'm in the house, cleaning - he would be slightly less useful if you were wanting him to hoover while you were out.
SylvanasWindrunner · 26/09/2021 18:00

We just got a Eufy 15C and he's great. Just bimbles around and then finds his way home. Trying to persuade DH we need another upstairs as Gus doesn't like the indignity of being carried up and down Grin

Malin52 · 26/09/2021 20:58

Simon has been a joy this week. I don't know where he finds the muck but everyday he retires to his bed with a box full!

No trapping issues but he has closed the bathroom door on himself, broken into the office while I'm on a call, lost a whirly on a rug and enjoys humping DH's slippers.

What does everyone use for other vacuuming jobs above ground though? Ceiling webs, curtains, sofas etc? Thinking a handheld thing but only options seems to be big stick vacs (negates the purpose of Eufy) or tiny dustbuster things?

OP posts:
MissCreeAnt · 27/09/2021 09:01

I don't think a big stick vacuum negates the purpose of Eufy. We have stairs, but even if we didn't, I would still want a more thorough, deeper vacuum than Eufy occasionally.

Malin52 · 27/09/2021 09:14

@MissCreeAnt I agree but we mainly have hardwood floors bar the bedroom and we have a big open space and no cupboards or utility to put a stick vac so Eufy under the console table works beautifully.
Something I could pop in a kitchen drawer or a tiny cupboard for quick above ground fixes would be ideal.

MissCreeAnt · 27/09/2021 09:29

Fair enough. What about something like this that at least stores in 2 pieces? shark dustbuster with floor attachment thing

We have a Karcher steam cleaner that packs away small in pieces, but if course it's doing a different job.

DespairingHomeowner · 27/09/2021 10:22

I have a DustBuster (mainly for the car) but suction is v poor so I would not recommend that. I think it’s important to have a hoover with decent suction to hoover carpets properly every week or two : I use my cylinder for that (& the stairs). My main motivation is preventing moths
