Yes! We have two single duvets on a king size bed and it is wonderful. Probably has saved our marriage tbh Smile I’d highly recommend it.

thesootherfairy · 04/09/2021 10:12

Yep. Always. Wouldn't be without it. It's the way to go for happy peaceful sleeping.
You don't feel any less together than you would with one duvet. You just sleep better and more comfortably.
DH and I have been together for more than 20 years and no way we would we go back. He likes it because I tend to roll myself up in the duvet and end up with all of it. And I'm scandi so it's in my blood.

Pandoraslastchance · 04/09/2021 10:13

I've always had my own duvet, normally a thinner one as my DH feels the cold and I get hot easily. It saves so many sleepless nights. I will admit that it is nice to sneak into his duvet when it's unexpectedly colder overnight.

Elieza · 04/09/2021 10:20

I did that with my ex. He liked a warm duvet. I was having night sweats so only needed a thin one. I think we had the original king size for him and mine was a double.

It stopped him stealing the duvet and leaving me cold. That was fab. However I think I’d have been better with a single rather than a double as it kept sliding down as it was too big.

The original king one went over the bed during the day as normal. Mine was rolled up at the foot of the bed like a tube shaped cushion.

thelegohooverer · 04/09/2021 21:17

This is genius.

PeonyTime · 04/09/2021 21:26

Yes, ish.
We had a crazy wide bed in a rented house.
I had our king duvet. DH had a (thicker) double.
The king didnt actually cover the mattress when nade, but I would just centre it, and have DHs duvet underneath.
We have now reverted to a king bed, and a king duvet.

Wbeezer · 04/09/2021 21:27

We have two single wool duvets on a superking, loads of room for special comfy pillows too, we're converted after a holiday in Berlin, can't go back now.

Hellocatshome · 04/09/2021 21:29

We do this? Well kind of, I hog the duvet and DH uses a blanket from the sofa. Works for me anyway Grin

purplesequins · 04/09/2021 21:31

here as well.
dh likes to wrap himself upmlike a burrito and would use the whole duvet for that leaving me freezing at night.
now he can burrito as much as he likes and I'm nice and warm and don't get disturbed in my sleep.

NewlyGranny · 04/09/2021 21:32

We had this in a Copenhagen hotel a few years back and loved it! It was two zip-linked singles, too, so loads of space. If I had enough room for a bed six feet across in the bedroom, I'd do it like a shot.

frippit · 04/09/2021 21:33

We've done this for years, I thought it was genius when I travelled round Scandinavia as a student.

WaggleToWarlock · 04/09/2021 21:33

We switched to this a couple of months ago - superking bed, two single duvets. It's great!

RuleOfCat · 04/09/2021 21:41

I don't think it's particularly Scandi - most European countries have separate duvets (each c. 135 cm wide) for two-person beds. We've been doing it for many years and it's a very sensible idea.
The one thing I've never been able to get on board with is two single mattresses squished together on a 180cm-wide bed frame - someone always ends up falling through the crack in the middle, so it's massively antisocial, but sadly pretty widespread in hotels.

LoveFall · 04/09/2021 21:44

We have two single/twin duvets. It solved so many problems. Would never go back. Go for it!

FizziWater · 04/09/2021 21:47

I've done this since menopause, thin light duvet for me and thick warm one for DH.
I hate it when we stay in hotels and have to share a duvet.

Popitdontstopit · 05/09/2021 11:49

So do they go in two single duvet covers, is that the idea? Do you make sure they match? (I know no one but me will see the bed and dh won't care, but just wondering!)

MeredithGreyishblue · 05/09/2021 11:51

What a fabulous idea! Thank you. So sime that it hadn't occurred to me but would absolutely solve my overheating issues! Yay!

yes, we have the same sets twice.
altforvarmt · 05/09/2021 11:57

Yes, we love it. No more disagreements over when to switch to a warmer or cooler duvet; we can each have the duvet thickness that suits us at any time of the year.

loopylindi · 05/09/2021 11:57

We're still using blankets and a sheet for total TOG control. He has two blankets which can be peeled off if too warm. I share one of the blankets but that too gets peeled off when I'm too warm - down to one sheet and that is suiting me fine!

RandomMess · 05/09/2021 11:59

We've been doing this for over a decade, only thing that improved on it was DH moving in to the spare room to sleep - priceless!

I second thisGrin. DH moved into spare room when I got covid. A king size bed to myself is bliss.Wink
MadameMinimes · 05/09/2021 12:03

Yep. Switched after a holiday in Iceland.

FudgeSundae · 05/09/2021 12:10

How does this work if you cuddle all night? Don’t you end up with a gap in the duvets?

RandomMess · 05/09/2021 12:14

You just overlap them.

No more cold draft down your back when the one duvet is stretched out and your DH lays on his side Angry
