How do I clean this? *Pic included*

Help, me, Oh wise people of Mumsnet!

How do I clean this oven dish? I've tried soaking it in hot soapy water and scrubbing, but no joy.

Any ideas welcome, even mad ones if they work! I have arthritis in my wrists so the least elbow grease option the better.

I await your wisdom.

I don't clean pans like that, other than hot soapy water to clean. All my roasting tins look like yours.

umberellaonesie · 09/03/2021 12:13

Is it stoneware? If it is it is meant to look like that. Hot soapy water once it is cool after using.

LIZS · 09/03/2021 12:13

Pink stuff or fairy cleaner and wire wool

Floralnomad · 09/03/2021 12:14

You could try sticking a dishwasher tablet in it with boiling water and leaving it to soak that may help a bit .

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 09/03/2021 12:14

Pyrex? Mine look like that too. I'm contemplating oven cleaner...

justanotherneighinparadise · 09/03/2021 12:15

Get one of those oven cleaning kits where you soak the racks. Stick that in the bag instead.

Anotherunimaginativeusername · 09/03/2021 12:15

Boiling water straight from the kettle and then scrubbing? Take care not to burn yourself obviously.
Soaking in some biological washing powder (not with boiling water though or the enzymes get denatured)?

Sprig1 · 09/03/2021 12:16

Why do you want to clean it? To make it look new again? I would just use soap Atwater to ensure that general grime wasn't going to fall off in to my next meal, and then not worry about it.

dementedpixie · 09/03/2021 12:16

Is it glass or some other material?
Astonish oven and cookware cleaning paste is good

Justmuddlingalong · 09/03/2021 12:18

A good scoop of vanish laundry powder dissolved in hot water. Leave soaking for a few hours.

UhtredRagnarson · 09/03/2021 12:21

Put it in the sink. Plug in. Crumble a couple of dishwasher tablets over it, put a few glugs of white vinegar and cover with very hot water (boiling is best) then leave it until the water is cold. Empty water. Fill up again with hand hot and washing up liquid and use a Brillo scourer to clean.

JustAPony · 09/03/2021 12:25

Brillo pad and elbow grease!

Laila747 · 09/03/2021 12:27

Bicarb and white vinegar. Leave to soak. For ages. Grin

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 09/03/2021 12:49

Oven cleaner, but wash it really well afterwords.

RavingAnnie · 09/03/2021 12:52

Try biological washing powder. That brings most shit off pans etc. Fill bowl with water submerge rusting dish, add scoop of powder, leave to soak. May need a couple of goes.

Alternatively soaking in soda crystals might work. Am assuming here that it's a Pyrex glass dish. Don't put soda crystals near anything aluminium.

BlankTimes · 09/03/2021 13:14

2 dishwasher tablets, fill with water and leave overnight.

LookItsMeAgain · 09/03/2021 13:17

I was going to suggest soaking it overnight using Sterident denture tablets and water.
I'd make sure that the sink has the plug in, fill with enough water that will mean when the dish is in the water it is submerged and then add the denture tablets.

AuntieDolly · 09/03/2021 13:19

Buy a new one!

ApolloandDaphne · 09/03/2021 13:20

All my metal roasting pans look like that. I've never bothered trying to make them look like new. It's just staining. It won't affect food cooked in it.

cerealgamechanger · 09/03/2021 13:30

Wire wool and lots of fairy liquid in hot water (assuming it's stoneware).

I use this also. Sparkling like new!
MrsBotibolsCruise · 09/03/2021 13:44

Cif is amazing. Scrub the pan with hot water and wire wool/scrubber, and leave the Cif to sink in for a hour or so then soak the pan in hot water.

steppemum · 09/03/2021 13:46

Pretty sure this ISN'T metal?

So, while all mymetal roastign tins look like this, if it isn't metal, then I can see why you would want to clean it.
