Mission
Wed Reminder
Babystep 15

I think I can cope with making my bed in the morning. I do that most mornings.

OP posts:
unknownrebelbang · 09/10/2007 21:32

lol, seems like most mornings DH is either still in bed, or planning on going back to bed.

That's my excuse anyway (and it is true at least half the time).

Be good if they could put up tomorrow's mission today iyswim, so I can plot to get DH to do it sometimes.

purpleturtle · 09/10/2007 22:25

You can get a 'sneak preview' of the week's missions somewhere. Try scrolling down the homepage a bit? It doesn't go up till lateish on Monday (them being in America and all), but I quite like to know what's coming.

unknownrebelbang · 09/10/2007 22:58

Thanks.

I thought I'd seen them somewhere, but then assumed I must have imagined it, lol.

systemsaddict · 10/10/2007 06:52

Well I am going to count last night as a success even though I did very little - felt ROUGH all day - came home, sorted dinner, put ds to bed, went to bed for an hour, got up, washed up, hung nappies up then had to go back to bed! BUT without FLYing wouldn't have done washing up or nappies (counted them as a hotspot), would have just crashed. Should have done putting clothes out too - sink and clothes being my set-in-stone babysteps - but just wasn't an option yesterday LOL. Not at work today though so will potter gently, sipping lemon and ginger tea, doing what we can (ds 13mo. helped wipe kitchen table last night, v. proud!) (OMG realised yesterday they will be only 21 months apart, I had thought it was 22, this seems very close!!).

We have a cat SuperMonkey, a very strange, very unfriendly with most people, far too bright slightly psychotic beast, and she is BRILLIANT with ds1. When he was tiny she just sat near him and sniffed his head; now that he is grabbing at her she has 'trained' him how to behave around her, batting at him with velveted paws when necessary. We have had the odd scratchy incident but of course we keep an eye, and generally she seems to judge perfectly how to behave around him at whatever stage of development he is. Course it depends on the cat ...! but we didn't expect her to be this good. And he ADORES her.

systemsaddict · 10/10/2007 06:55

oh and I make my bed (well, pull duvet vaguely straight) most days too so this should be straightforward enough

SuperMonkey · 10/10/2007 07:22

That's encouraging SA (re the cat I mean). We would get a rescue cat, not a kitten (too much like hard work) so hopefully the RSPCA people would be able to help us pick a cat with the right temperament.

Why does bold sometimes not work?

SuperMonkey · 10/10/2007 07:23

Do you have to asterisk each word?

SuperMonkey · 10/10/2007 07:24

YES!

Experiment over.

systemsaddict · 10/10/2007 08:24

Yes ours was a rescue cat SuperMonkey (hence the temperament, she had a tough start in life) and the animal shelter billed her as 'would make a lovely family cat' - we always thought this was crazy as she is, to put it nicely, a cat of some character; but they must have seen her being good with children in the shelter. So yes, they will be able to advise I'm sure - keep us informed!

funnypeculiar · 10/10/2007 08:41

Morning all
Feeling super-on-top of things this am.

Have already done my 2 mins hotspot (end of dining room table, as always , 5 mins room rescue plus hoovered downstairs, shined sink & cleared all breakie things.

SuperMonkey · 10/10/2007 08:46

We're going away for half term so I think I'll go and see them at the sanctuary when we get back. No point getting a cat now then leaving it for a week.

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/10/2007 10:05

Morning...

I'm feeling a bit more human today stomach flu seems to be ebbing and babyboo slept until 6:30 this morning, so my sleep deprived fug is lifting.

I'm off to catch up on the weeks babysteps and Kelly's missions.

I'm not keeping up with my control journal (as I'm not entirely sure what I should be writing in it )

I'll check in later with, hopefully, an impressive list of achievements.

SM, I'm also thinking about getting a cat. DH is mildly allergic, but as he's only here weekends......

We had a lovely cat, Bruce, who adopted us two years ago (his owners moved away and abandoned him ) but he was killed on the main road about this time last year . I'm a bit wary now as we are in a cul-de-sac off a busy (40mph) road, but I've had cats all my life and really miss the companionship!

SuperMonkey · 10/10/2007 10:37

Well perhaps we can have cat updates too then daisy! My 18 year old cat died about a year ago, I really missed the companionship when she went too.

Progress going well, DS is in the middle of a monster nap:

Back again - Not sure who it was that asked about doing this and working, but have asked a friend who works full time, but isn?t on MN because she doesn?t have kids, and she has said

?The de-clutter is key, the less stuff you have to look after the less time it takes to look after. I?m getting there a year down the line! I have a routine and stick to it and it doesn?t half help.?

She has an 'after work' routine
Get home and hang coat up
Open post
Cleaning a room (different day different room - if lots of time deep clean, if not little clean)
Do the jobs off my list that need doing and update
Supper and make lunch for tomorrow (normally leftovers)
Wash up!!!
Then its mong time

And she has the before bed routine we have.

Would that work with having kids? Could they have an ?after school? routine too? My DS is still a tot!

OP posts:
purpleturtle · 10/10/2007 13:29

I think mine have one:
Come home, have snack, make a mess, progress to TV watching, while I or dh tidy up their mess, eat tea, have a bath, do reading practice, argue about whether or not they can get to sleep, finally crash out!

Happens most days, so it must be a routine!

purpleturtle · 10/10/2007 13:33

Am on top of stuff to do today, I think. Will have a go at the taps in a bit.

Think I may have to crack on the laying clothes out part of the routine. Don't really think I need it, but I'm going to have to start doing the children's! Dd 'couldn't find' her clothes this morning until I picked them up from the floor under her feet!

funnypeculiar · 10/10/2007 14:13

Loving the kids routine, PT

Hope you have a better night tonight, Bienchen.

Right, I've done my 15 mins decluttering (1 ' tat' kitchen drawer, plus saucepan draws cleared/cleaned. And just off to do my taps

flowerybeanbag · 10/10/2007 14:16

Oh dear.

DS needs getting up from his nap and I seem to have spend most of his naptime having an in-depth discussion on MN about employed/self-employed status and rights rather than doing my ironing.

whoops.

systemsaddict · 10/10/2007 15:38

Just set the timer for 15 minutes to make a start on the massive pile of clean washing to put away that's been stressing me out for days ... 10 mins later and it's all done! and so I've done all my morning routine now - v. proud of self at having picked myself up after a morning spent feeling sick, sleepy and sorry for myself on the sofa.

I'm worried I'm a terrible mother as ds is getting far too much CBeebies right now but am hoping that since it's only for a few weeks till I feel better again he shouldn't be too profoundly damaged by it ...

unknownrebelbang · 10/10/2007 17:47

Afternoon all.

DS will be fine SA.

Not seen that thread fbb, but your input is always useful, so time well spent imho.

PT - sounds a bit like my house afterschool (I've just kicked em all out with DH to go to karate, lol, and it's sooo peaceful).

I do most of my stuff after-work/school, it's easier, and I get started when I walk through the door, rather than sitting down and having five.

unknownrebelbang · 10/10/2007 17:55

Anyhoo, my babystep today is to set a regular bedtime. I am hopeless at going to bed at a specific time because I am a bit of a nightowl, and DH does shiftwork, so this will be a bit of a challenge.

I'm going to aim for 11pm, but I know it'll be closer to midnight. oh hum.

Exercise bike and get ready
Reminders, routine and journal, etc
Read and Delete emails
Make the bed - DH still in it when I got up.

Mission - to do.
Hot spot - bedroom chair - done.
Five min room rescue - bedroom - done.

15 mins - DH's wardrobe finished. He has been warned, lol.

My personal 15 mins - read an old paper at work - ssshh, don't tell the boss, lol.
Shiny Sink.
Clothes ready for me and uniform - to do.
