Oh how do you make the sausage pie popsycal? Sounds like something we would like. Thanks

Turquoise · 23/09/2007 16:14

Marsy -

Sesame oil, garlic and LOTS of grated ginger in the wok
Stir fry chopped chicken breasts, once its browned add peppers (I use yellow, orange, and red just cos it looks pretty)
Stir fry all that, add lots of lemon juice, and soy sauce to taste.
Take off the heat, stir through a packet of salted cashews, serve with rice.
Tis yum.

popsycal · 23/09/2007 17:25

Sausage pie is a kind of invention of mine.....

Get some saisages and cut them into half or thirds. Stick them in a casserole dish with a little oil and stick them in the oven for about 20 mins (until browned but not fully cooked)

WHile you are doing that you need to have potatoes boiling for mash (so I usually peel potatoes before putting the sausage in).

At the same time, another pan to fry a couple of onions and a couple of cloves of garlic.

Following?

Once onions are browned (around 5 mins ish, give them a good shake of mixed herbs, then put in a tinned of cheap tinned tomatoes and a tin of baked beans. Put in a really generous squirt of tomato puree too - probably a third to a half of a tube.

Let it mulsh down while the potatoes and sausages are doing.

When tatties are done, mash them. Once sausages are ready (not quite done....) add your tomato mixture and top with mash.

Stick in oven (around 200 degrees) and cook for 20-30 mins. I add grated cheese on top for last 5 mins.

We like it with sweet corn.

MarsLady · 23/09/2007 18:06

You lots are so organised. I have no idea what I'm having this coming week nor ever tomrrow. I buy whatever looks nice, get my veg box, then decide from day to day.

Wow! It's a different world isn't it? I'm impressed, but I'm just not like that. How can you know what you're going to feel like eating that far ahead? What if something happens to change your plans? Is there flexibility?

NannyL · 23/09/2007 23:25

we will be having

Fish pie (salmon and a white fish)
Cottage pie (with extra veg in the bolognese bit)
Pasta with tomatoe and cream cheese sauce
some form of chicken meal, probably with rice

chikenmother · 23/09/2007 23:26

I don´t program the entire week either. Sometimes my work makes me cook in advance but I usualy decide it day by day. Tomo rrow will be tomato rice and chiken steacks and veg soup.

EmsMum · 23/09/2007 23:32

We will be having all the things DD and I like but DH either doesn't like or can't eat, cos he's away - so tomorrow chicken& cashews (with carrots and bamboo shoots not peppers) and lots of soy sauce mmmm sodiummmm
