What do I do, we have found 4 baby mice in our bedding draw, do we call a pest controller?

Are they still in the drawer? And any sign of mouse droppings in the bedroom?

Tlollj · 28/05/2020 18:25

Kill them. Fucking hate mice.

Lorddenning1 · 28/05/2020 18:25

Yeah they are still there and there are droppings too, they have also torn up a bath matt

My fella wants to kill them but I don't want him too Confused

Yuk, they've probably used your bedding as a loo.

FizzyPink · 28/05/2020 18:27

Oh god that is my worst nightmare Envy no advice but I’d get rid of them quickly!

justforthecake · 28/05/2020 18:27

They are not pets OP they carry disease .
There is never just one nest. You have to kill them off

RainySaturday · 28/05/2020 18:27

Catch them, drive to the countryside far from houses then release them.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 28/05/2020 18:27

Omg that’s my worst nightmare. Have you had no other signs of mice before this?
Throw away everything in that draw once you’ve got rid of the mice.

LongPauseNoReply · 28/05/2020 18:28

Kill them? FFS they’re living creatures. That’s unnecessary.

Humane trap mum and put them in a box together at the end of the garden and then get a cat as arepellent 😂

chrislilleyswig · 28/05/2020 18:29

In your drawer.

Why wouldn't you just kill them

hairypaws · 28/05/2020 18:30

Are their eyes open? If they look like they are weaned from mum I'd release them away from house. Personally I could only use humane traps but then I keep rats 🤷‍♀️

MrsOfBebbanburg · 28/05/2020 18:30

Agree with taking them to the countryside and releasing them them you need to hot wash everything in the drawer (bedlinen etc) and scrub the drawer itself with disinfectant.

Haworthia · 28/05/2020 18:31

Definitely pest controller. You need to figure out how they got in!

They’re incontinent and chew the crap out of your wiring, so I wouldn’t be messing around releasing them in a nice looking field personally.

Lorddenning1 · 28/05/2020 18:33

It says this online, and the pest controller is coming tomorrow

Everything in that draw will get thrown away and the draw will be scrubbed clean, we had a mouse a few months back but my OH just trapped it and threw it outside, obs we realise now that this wasn't a smart move Confused

Poor mice. It's not their fault they got stuck in your house. If the mother comes back catch her put her with the babies outside. At least give them a chance to live.

grumpyorange · 28/05/2020 18:44

Animal pest controllers will say the only way is killing them because then they get your business

Get a humane trap and pop a little bit of peanut butter in it. When you catch mum take the draw to a safe space outside pop the babies down with some of the draw contents if you're going to get rid of it anyway and then release mum. Make sure you tuck them away. At least give them a chance to live.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 28/05/2020 18:48

humane traps are NOT humane...mice have an inner map and if you remove them from their location they have no idea of where to find food or safety so if the stress of you catching, gawking at and releasing them doesn;t kill them then not knowing how to find food or safety most certainly will

Lorddenning1 · 28/05/2020 18:52

The pest controller seems to think there are 2 of them knocking about, not seen any around, the babies look like they are very young, as they are pink, it looks like they are a day old

grumpyorange · 28/05/2020 18:53

@LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow better than snapping their necks and leaving the babies to starve to death 🤷🏼‍♀️ we had a similar situation we trapped mum popped her and her babies outside into a little nest of what they had been nesting on and got some mice food and sprinkled it around. They all grew up absolutely fine

So what do you advise OP to do? Confused she can’t just leave them there!
LynetteScavo · 28/05/2020 18:54

You need to get a cat

Lorddenning1 · 28/05/2020 18:54

So it looks like we are screwed either way, not wanting to kill them, or if we get a humane trap and put them in a field somewhere they will die too, what are we meant to do, just live with them forever

Choctimeout · 28/05/2020 18:55

Aww I’m so glad my mum was so much nicer than some of you lot.

When this happened she left mum with the babies and got us a big cage. She got them sexed and separated into different cages at the pet shop and then divvied them out between us.

Roland and Nibbler were two of the best pets I ever had Grin Never big and were incredibly trainable.
