A bit , but felt the need to confess...

DD wet the bed (and is delightful and wraps her legs round her duvet) - tis a cotbed size one so fits in the machine.

In my sleepy haze I chucked it in the machine and didn't take it apart.

Have just taken it out, realised it is all together, so have hung it on the line like it so I don't have to bother later

Please tell me other people do stuff like that?!?

don't iron: hang clothes out very straight and on hangers.

Spagblog · 19/09/2007 11:19

yup, DS's duvet used to go in the washing machine and dryer with the duvet cover still on...Nothing wrong with that in my slatternly opinion!

Spagblog · 19/09/2007 11:20

or don't iron and hope body heat makes creases drop out???

preggersagain · 19/09/2007 11:21

Flame you slattern welcome to my world

claricebeansmum · 19/09/2007 11:21

Spray furniture polish around room - smells if it has been cleaned

wheresthevalium · 19/09/2007 11:24

Get a Roomba, house always looks clean and vacuumed, also means you have more time to do other household chores, or like me laze about and watchthe damn thing going round...

wheresthevalium · 19/09/2007 11:28

Oh, and demand that DCs put away their clothes, toys etc

My DDs (4 and 5) do all their own now, I put pictures on the front of their drawers of what goes in each drawer, ta da, 2 less peoples stuff to deal with

preggersagain · 19/09/2007 11:28

wtv- and a scooba saves absolutly no time though as dh watches the cats travel around sitting on top of them have told him that the time can be better spent say loading the dishwasher etc but the roomba is mesmerising apparently!

wheresthevalium · 19/09/2007 11:36

Ooh, we are saving for one of those atm, should have it for the new house, along with another roomba for upstairs

Legacy · 19/09/2007 11:39

Hardly ever get 'proper' vacuum out - just pick up visible bits with the dustbuster

Heathcliffscathy · 19/09/2007 11:41

ahem. WHAT, may I ask, is the Roomba? [screeches off to google to find out]

Vikkin · 19/09/2007 11:44

At last I've found you, you slatterns.
With all due respect to them, I can stop constantly checking the Flyladies, in the hope that one of them hasn't fulfilled her list.

Vikkin · 19/09/2007 17:07

Oh, have I made a boo-boo.
Are we not allowed to mention the Flyladies? They have motivated me today to actually DO some work in this pit.

Heathcliffscathy · 19/09/2007 23:05

i think this thread deserves a bump

deeeja · 20/09/2007 01:15

when expecting visitors, pour bleach in the toilet, and flush, it will smell as if you have cleaned your bathroom!

wheresthevalium · 20/09/2007 08:01

Also, have lots of furniture that can also be used as storage so you can have an emergency tidy if someone is turning up.

yaddayah · 20/09/2007 08:06

vikkin as one of the flyladies who never completes her list (and regularly stuffs things behind the sofa) I think you're forgiven !

My slattern tip :

All washing up let it soak in the bowl (so it looks like your'e doing something with it) Failing that .. cover with a teatowel

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/09/2007 08:30

Ok, so I'm liking the look of the roomba and the scooba. Where can you buy the latest models in the UK?

wheresthevalium · 20/09/2007 08:33

I ordered mine on ebay, it still comes from the US though, mine arrived in 6 days. and we didn't have to pay the duty or whatever it is

squatchette · 20/09/2007 08:38

PMSL at some of these !YADA I'm another one who never finishes her lists.
Here's one i read a while back -dress your children in their school uniforms before putting to bed ,voila no rushing around the next morning and more time in bed all round.
Haven't tried this one yet .

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/09/2007 08:40

Which model do you have wtv? Read about them on wikipedia, and sounds like 3rd generation is the one I'd want.

Can't decide between roomba and scooba though!

lou33 · 20/09/2007 08:54

position pc so when you sit down, your back is to the mess you have to tidy

surf all day

deeeja · 20/09/2007 10:15

Before anyone comes round, or before dh comes home, plug the vacuum cleaner in, leave in the middle of the lounge, so it looks as though you were just about to vacuum.

midnightexpress · 20/09/2007 10:16

Wait until your trousers can walk to the washing machine on their own before doing the laundry.

deeeja · 20/09/2007 10:57

Train your kids to tidy up, dust, and load washing machine. It is a fantastic game!
Good for fine motor skills, hand-eye co-ordination, etc.
