I hate nets and I doubt hubby would go for blinds. Anything else?

TheArmadillo · 03/09/2007 12:57

kindersurprise · 03/09/2007 12:58

IKEA have frosted glass sticky stuff, looks really good, and when you get fed up of it, you just peel it off.

gringottsgoblin · 03/09/2007 12:59

a big sign saying stop looking in my window you git

NAB3 · 03/09/2007 13:00

Voile could be the stuff. Thanks.

If that doesn't work I will put up the sign.

What sort of windows do you have? If you have sash-style windows you could have an apaque screen on the lower half of the window for privacy.

NomDePlumeIsIrrationallyAngry · 03/09/2007 13:00

just flick 'em the bird

NAB3 · 03/09/2007 13:01

Actually, half and half may work too.

Brume do good quality window film. they have website you can buy online

Peachy · 03/09/2007 13:03

Oh I know what you mean- we have a cottage that faces right onto a road! Drives me nuts- some old biddy was watching me be sick (morning sickness) t'other day (??? why?)

Voile is good, so are well made blinds but so much mroe expensive

tigerschick · 03/09/2007 13:04

here is the Brume website. I like the idea of frosted panels but wouldn't necessarily do the whole panel as I like to look out too - maybe a pattern, just to break up the expanse of glass?

NomDePlumeIsIrrationallyAngry · 03/09/2007 13:06

We have gorgeous custom roman blinds but they are not really ideal for blocking out other people looking in as they block everything else too !

At least with voile/film you still get the light through

KTeePee · 03/09/2007 13:39

Venetian blinds?

bagpuss · 03/09/2007 13:55

We have metal micro blinds that look like they are made of wood. We bought them after I had dd as I didn't want people to see me bf through the living room window. They are good as they can be angled to let in light as well as keeping out nosey people.

Like NDP's suggestion though .

Stroo · 03/09/2007 18:15

If you are feeling creative - Sari type material can be very pretty - a sort of customised voile.

TheArmadillo · 03/09/2007 19:53

yeah we made our own (ok, my mum made them) but just found some material we liked and then got that stretchy curtain hanging wire stuff and sewed over the ends of them to thread it through.

Worked out at about £9 all in all.

NAB3 · 09/09/2007 17:38

Having trouble finding anything. I am thinking voiles would be good. Or even something that just screens the bottom half of the window. Is that naff? Any thoughts on stockists please? TIA.

MrsFogi · 11/09/2007 15:57

You can get bottom-up blinds so you only cover as much of the window as you need to when you need to - you can get them from Eclectics (but very pricey) or from John Lewis.

NAB3 · 11/09/2007 19:12

That sounds good. Thanks.

In Nederlands they use the frosted stuff on the windows - just using a strip at eye level to stop nosy parkers. At least you can just stick it on the window where you want it to stay and still get the light.

NAB3sparklesandflashes · 05/11/2007 15:57

I am bumping this as I have finally got money to go and get something. So far have settled on cream voiles from Roseby's.

AskSanta · 05/11/2007 16:12

Have you got a dunelm near you? They have a wide range of voile?

I spent quite a while looking for plain voile and found some at our local market. It was really cheap too.

NAB3sparklesandflashes · 05/11/2007 16:30

Never heard of dunelm???
