Do you love them? Did it cost you many Earth Pounds? Can you wash them, rather than have them dry-cleaned? TIA.

Yes, I love the weightiness in particular. Wonderfully warm in winter, perfectly manageable in summer. And it’s so quiet underneath it. The only problem is that it’s much less puffy than a feather duvet so the Toast duvet cover I bought for it is far too big.

It cost less than anticipated. Superking size from what was Soak & Sleep a few years ago. I’m rather keen to get a Baavet to compare ...

Have never attempted any sort of laundering! I’m sure wool is self cleaning ...

FishJelly · 29/08/2019 14:46

Got a Baavet one, slight second so good value. Like it but can still be quite warm sometimes. Not washed it. Yes not as thick as feather so cover slightly baggy but very lightweight.
Would happily get another.

Bamaluz · 29/08/2019 17:59

Love mine. I air it on the line very occasionally. At first I found the smell a bit strong when it was new but it is not an unpleasant smell, just a bit sweet and sickly if that makes sense.

I love the thick cotton cover, it's a bit rustly, but feels like real quality.

Also a Baavet second.

Flyingarcher · 29/08/2019 18:33

We had a wool pillow for a while. Cost a lot. Fine for a while but then I needed to wash it and the smell was revolting afterwards and rendered it unusable. Lanoline was too strong for sleeping.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 29/08/2019 18:44

Ah, thanks all.

We got a 1 or 2 tog superlight kingsize from the woolroom. Its great, there is a bit of weight even though its light. Its breathable so you get less sweaty in hot weather and we’ve washed it in a standard washing machine with no problems.

wufti · 29/08/2019 19:47

Love my wool duvet, never washed it, just aired it. Another Baavet seconds fan. Is flatter but keeps the filling really even, unlike previous man made duvets which always went lumpy

Flyingarcher · 30/08/2019 07:03

Just to throw a spanner in...I love my silk duvet...

ThirdAidKit · 30/08/2019 07:05

I have a Baavet second, I’ve never noticed a smell! Haven’t washed it, airing is enough

tadders · 30/08/2019 07:08

Baavet duvets are fabulous and made from 100% British wool. I love the slight clean sheepy smell but that soon disspates if you are concerned about that.

Why not try one SpongeBob- they do a money back guarantee if you return within the month if you don't get on with it

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 30/08/2019 08:17

I got my wool duvet for £75 from Asda.Blush

Never washed it, air it regularly, it's very cosy in winter but a bit heavier than I would like, although DH loves that.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 30/08/2019 19:13

Thanks, I will go off and research a bit more!

Definitely woolroom. They often have good offers on. Much easier to put in the duvet cover! Also bought a mattress protector from them and a thick pad that goes over the mattress. Toasty warm in the winter. Duvet and mattress protector washed in my washing machine -9kg capacity - with shampoo from woolroom and line dried.

LazyFace · 01/09/2019 07:51

Oh, just the tread I was looking for. I hate the plastic duvet we have, never even knew wool existed, I was thinking about changing it to feather.

Letthemysterybe · 01/09/2019 07:52

I love my soak and sleep one. I love that it’s heavy.

BikeRunSki · 01/09/2019 07:57

We got a fill price mid weight Basvrt about a year ago. A similar heard caused a run on the seconds!

I love it. Warm, comfortingjy thick and cosy, works on all but the hottest nights.

SomethingOnce · 01/09/2019 12:16

We’ve got a Devon Duvets one, the lighter of the two weights they make - absolutely love it!

It did fine through last winter, though last winter wasn’t quite as cold as the previous one (and I still had a co-sleeping 4yo). Quite tempted to buy the warmer weight going into the chilly months this year.

I like that it’s natural fibre and supports British farmers. Less dusty than feather and down as well, ime.

miffmufferedmoof · 03/09/2019 15:02

I have an all seasons one from the woolroom. Thinner and heavier than a normal duvet but I really like it. Machine washable, line dry. Mine has needed washing as DH is a sweaty sleeper 🤮

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 22/11/2019 18:42

Thanks all. Off to a Woolroom shop this weekend. Have asked for the duvet as a Crimbo pressie and getting a pillow too. Excited! How sad and middle aged am I? [santa]

A wool duvet? Is that the new name for a blanket?

ClientListQueen · 24/11/2019 23:29

@BlackForestCake not quite... it's a duvet filled with wool

SunsetBoulevard3 · 24/11/2019 23:33

I got a Baavet second. I love it. Lightweight, warm, lovely smell.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 25/11/2019 22:07

Haven't been to the shop yet. Rather hoping there'll ba a black Friday deal I can take advantage of.
