Do you love them? Did it cost you many Earth Pounds? Can you wash them, rather than have them dry-cleaned? TIA.

Does a wool duvet make you itch even with a cover on it? Wool has that effect on me

Love my wool duvet, prefer it to my silk one (and is surely more ethical).

I accidentally tumble dried my silk one on a hot setting (contra to instructions) and it survived 🥳 washed up lovely. Not sure if I have washed my wool yet.

DH and I have single duvets and he has the two silk ones in the winter whilst I have the wool one.

Snog · 25/11/2019 22:28

I like the wool duvets but not the wool pillows.
They aren't itchy because they are fully encased in cotton and then you also have your duvet cover. The filling doesn't come out like it can with feathers.

MerryDeath · 25/11/2019 22:37

my DS has one actually. i'd ask what he thinks but he's two and would probably say "yes". seems like a good duvet, he sleeps well 🙏🏽!

CatUnderTheStairs · 25/11/2019 22:43

Very good for menopausal night sweats. I’ve got a soak and sleep one, it’s brilliant.

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 25/11/2019 22:52

Another happy owner of a Baavet second! It’s a good weight and suits me through all seasons, and with 0/1/2 co-sleeping children. I love it. It must be... four years old now, I think? And still good as new.

I did find the rustling cotton a bit noisy at first but now I’m used to it and as a pp said, it feels like a really good quality finish.

I’m also happy with my Baavet pillow, although just fluffing it back up doesn’t seem to do the trick for me and I do seem to have to order more wool to add to it from time to time. That inconvenience aside, it’s definitely the most comfortable pillow I’ve ever slept on.

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/11/2019 23:05

Can't decide between Baavet or Devon Duvets. Does anyone know if the DD ones have a rustly cover?

31133004Taff · 25/11/2019 23:07

A Woolroom dry clean only. Yes, just another name for a thick blanket. Sees off menopausal night sweats but not as cosy as a feather. Doesn’t fall around my body, particularly my feet so wear bed socks. A reasonable compromise when you bear in mind how feather and down are extracted. So they win hands down for me.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 26/11/2019 10:45

Ooh interesting. That's a point about the wool pillow. Tbh I would rather buy additional wool every now and then, than keep buying. New pillows. Even the m and s now that claims to remain bouncy, and was expensive, goes much flatter after a while. And I always feel a bit guilty chucking them, though I have sent them to the dogs home before now.

My wool pillows have never been comfortable so I no longer use them
I find them a bit hard

trickyex · 26/11/2019 22:54

Can I ask where you all found your Baavet seconds from?

Artura · 26/11/2019 22:58

Does anyone know if the wool attracts moths?

oohnicevase · 26/11/2019 23:02

Don't dry clean them , you will have chemicals in your bed !
I used to be a dry cleaner and refused to dry clean them . If you wash them ( we did by mistake when the customer didn't tell us it was wool and 99.9% of duvets are not and wash beautifully ) they turn Barbie size so please be careful ! 🙈

Bananasandchocolatecustard · 26/11/2019 23:09

I have a Baavet light weight duvet from the seconds section. It is great in the winter and summer. I love it.

Bananasandchocolatecustard · 26/11/2019 23:11

Tricky- go to the Baavet website and the seconds section is there.

GrimDamnFanjo · 27/11/2019 01:04

I have duvets abs was going to buy pillows? What do people recommend?

EBearhug · 27/11/2019 01:17

Can't you wash them on a cool wool wash?

MiniMum97 · 27/11/2019 01:32

No you can't wash them. The only ones you can wash are cheap and have a propylene lining which completely negates the temperature regulating properties. You can air them on a warm day.

CatUnderTheStairs · 27/11/2019 07:17

Wool has got self cleaning properties. So despite me being the sweatiest mare alive mine doesn’t smell at all. We do air it when we remember.

CatUnderTheStairs · 27/11/2019 07:18

I don’t like the pillow at all. Too solid for me.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 27/11/2019 11:19

Woolshop have Black Friday deals on. They suggest their pillows may go a bit flat over time, but if you buy the one you can get into, it needs to be separated and foofed up. You can also buy extra wool to add in.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 27/11/2019 11:20

Disclaimer. Foofed is my word, not theirs. Grin

@MiniMum97

I am delighted that I bought ‘non-dry clean’. Thought I’d maybe made a false economy.

MiniMum97 · 27/11/2019 18:42

By the way I have greenfibres wool duvet which is fab. Plus I bought their kapok pillows as I was concerned about wool clumping and being too hard and kapok is supposed to be closest to feather. I can vouch for kapok, it is also fab. Very comfy and fluffable, and doesn't clump.

Greenfibres do not use chemicals or flame retardants on any of their products - worth checking this with your chosen manufacturer if this is a concern for you.
