If I've had a Miele washing machine will I be disappointed with a Bosch?

I've had a Miele for 18 years,it's still going strong and never once played up or needed fixing ( touch wood!)

It's a basic one as old Mieles tend to be ,knobs to turn and basic digital display. 30 min quick wash which I use for most things except bedding and towels.

I'm thinking ahead and when it does finally go I want to know which machine to get. When we got our machine we were loaded as it was pre kids ,double income. I like the fact it's so reliable and dh has a thing for white goods and doesn't mind spending on something that gets used so often.

I keep hearing that Mieles aren't that great any more,is that right, anyone have any experience of customer service with them?

Are they still the best or have other machines improved hugely these days? What about a Bosch,we have a Bosch induction and it's great.

Has anyone regretted not getting a Miele? They are SO much money and we don't have anywhere near the income we used to have so cost is a factor but reliability is the main issue as far as dh is concerned.

Fuck me, I can't believe what a boring post this is, sorry BlushGrin

I've had a Miele for around a year and I love it. It comes with a 5 year guarantee as standard and you can extend to 10 years. Previously had a Samsung which didn't even see a year and had 3 repairs and was atrociously bad at washing properly. I regretted getting rid of my VERY basic hotpoint when I had the Samsung, even though I needed a bigger capacity with a family.

I love my 12 yr old Miele washer, is very quiet and when we bought it used the least water / electric per cycle - when it goes I will buy another.

Why does Which recommend Samsung ?Posters on this thread haven't been happy with Samsung.

I am on my 2nd AEG which will be 10 years on the go in the Autumn. Previous AEG lasted ten years. Before that I had a Bendix for 14 years. I also had a Siemens dishwasher which was 19 years old when we moved house. Left it behind and wish I still had it instead of the Candy one I have now which doesn't hold as much and I find my self putting on extra washes or doing stuff by hand. Next washing machine I am going to look at Bosch or Siemens as well as AEG

I had the worst vacuum ever after reading Which recommendations,I don't hold much stock with them at all.

I wanted a Miele washer dryer but they did not do a condenser model. Got a Siemens instead and I 💕 💕 💕 it passionately. I told somebody on another thread about how good it was a few months ago but I did not confess to strength of my adoration. It has a great range of washes and the dryer has two heat settings. I just use the dryer for towels but it is really handy.

LoafofSellotape · 15/07/2019 23:43

Meile used to do a washer dryer that was a condenser as we had one for 8 weeks before we got our current machine. It went wrong so many times they replaced it with a washer and separate drier ,we got a fantastic deal and they upgraded to the next model up. 18 years ago now! The engineer said they kept getting all outs so they must have stopped making them.

Miele, used daily, often more now in tenth year of use. I’m hoping the quality hasn’t diminished as I’ll be buying another one, definitely!

I've got Bosch, my parents have Miele. I covet the Miele every time i visit them. The washing machine is silent, it's like a stealth machine, and just looks the bees knees. Our income at the time simply couldn't stretch that far but when the Bosch dies (11 years so far, including washable nappies and 6 loads a week), I'm maxing the credit card for Miele. Parents one is at least 20 years old so i think you get your monies worth.

Hi so I was cleaning the upstairs bathroom yesterday and normally I use normal bleach to clean the taps. This time my mum bought a strong bleach hapric bleach which without reading or using common sense that it could damage or ruin the taps. Know I have no idea what to do it’s not all bad but has some black stains, colour has changed a bit, I’ve used braso polish no help. So could anyone help me out or recommend something as these taps are not that old. I’ve read that Mass cream is good.

I wouldn't buy anything but Miele now. Mine is 9 years old, used daily, often more than once a day. No problems at all in that time.
