Do you use your washing machine?

That was one of the reasons I switched to cork Lonicera.

No one else bothered to hang it up here and I got sick of it. My bathroom floor seems to have more water on it after a shower than the shower tray, god knows what goes on in there!

I didn’t expect to a) like it of b) it last as long as it has but I would buy another one.

Bath mats are treated as towels by me .
I keep all the rags used during the week( soaking )and wash on the hottest wash together.

TulipsInbloom1 · 27/01/2019 07:46

OP I think you may have issues. Just put them in your washing machine.

But also, don't people pick up their bath mats after use and hang on towel rail/radiator/side of the bath? Leaving it down for days means it will stay damp and leave the floor under it damp too.

RLABC · 27/01/2019 07:58

Definitely hand it up on the shower rail/towel rail/side of bath/over door/banister after every use (isn't it horribly cold stepping out onto a damp rug?).
I wash mine with the towels on a 60c wash. I'd also put really manky cleaning cloths in with them if I have any.
Dishcloths and tea-towels go in a separate 40c wash.

RLABC · 27/01/2019 08:01

I do Dishcloths and tea-towels on a separate wash because my husband is rather hairy and if I put them in a mixed or towel wash his hairs end up embedded in the cloths. Not nice in a kitchen Blush

Cleaning rags I throw straight into the washing machine as I use them and do a load of washing daily.

Shall we talk about cloth nappies and toddler vests post-poonami? Grin because those all go into the washing machine too and come out sparkling clean! (Yes the nappies and anything with solids gets rinsed first).

But honestly - a bathmat is only ever stood on by bare feet, pre or post shower. My washing machine has seen us through D&V, bloody noses, skinned knees, muddy clothes, dog bedding and towels, and two DC through cloth nappies - I can't imagine lugging all that to a laundrette!! Do a service wash and wipe the seals once a month and your machine will be as clean as a whistle.

Sorry OP but if the DM spot this one you're definitely going to feature for comedy value.

"I can't wash things in my washing machine that are dirty" Grin

Some pretty gross stuff goes in my washing machine and it all comes out fine.

I draw the line at toilet brushes in the dishwasher though (as I read on here this werk). Vile Envy

Nedzilla · 27/01/2019 08:25

How do you think people wash reusable nappies which are full of shit? in the washing machine of course.

Its fine, its designed to wash dirty stuff, rinse and machine be clean for the next lot

Bath mats go in machine with bath towels here on 60 degrees

Tea towels, cleaning cloths and similar go on a 95 degree wash. I have plenty of each so dirty ones go in a small basket in laundry room until theres enough to do a wash (probably once every 10 days or so)

"I can't wash things in my washing machine that are dirty"

Not true. I wash clothes in my washing machine. But then our clothes don't get horribly soiled.

Ginnymweasley · 27/01/2019 11:04

But your clothes do get dirty just maybe not visibly. They are covered in sweat, drops of urine, dead skin etc. If it rains they are covered in dirty water. I'm sure you have occasionally got mud on your clothes and then washed them. It's exactly the same. Unless you never clean your floors then I doubt your bath mat is as dirty as you think.

WhenLifeGivesYouLemonsx · 27/01/2019 12:17

Yep I do.

cinemalover · 27/01/2019 12:33

In the washing machine with towels or whatever on a normal washConfused they're not dirty as I step on them with clean feet after the shower! Don't have one near the toilet either.
