Who has a Tupperware drawer/cupboard that works?

Might certainly doesn't and I'm after some inspiration so that I can create something that does!
Anyone willing to show us theirs?

When you say a cupboard that works, you mean it all falls out when you open it, right? I know no other way with Tupperware...

RatRolyPoly · 15/11/2018 16:53

What do you mean by "works"? I just have a big old pan drawer rammed full of tubs; should I be doing better?? I'll be interested to see what other people have achieved!

Pascha · 15/11/2018 16:53

I could show you mine but I suspect it looks a lot like yours.

NoSquirrels · 15/11/2018 16:55

Does anyone else ever read a thread title and do a one-word answer in their head?

Mine was “No”. Grin

But here for the tips!

Sunshineonleaf · 15/11/2018 16:55

Yes.
I threw out all the old random different shapes and sizes accumulated over 30 years and bought all new in small and large.
The bottoms are stacked neatly and the lids stand in a basket on their sides.
Tis beautiful.

Valasca · 15/11/2018 16:57

Look up Tupperware organizer on Pinterest. This looks promising if you’re diy inclined and can source a pegboard easily

ILoveAutum · 15/11/2018 16:58

I’m not home so I can’t show you mine, but it works pretty well.

Match up containers and lids. Any odd ones, put to one side. I have a box of spares that I keep because inevitably the other part turns up or another bit goes missing etc.

Discard any that in any way broken.

Discard any that are actually takeaway/yogurt pots/ive cream containers etc. (IF you find you really would like one x size, you can easily replace it).

Put ‘random bits’ (weird sizes or whatever) into another box. If you haven’t used them
In a few months charity/bin them (if no use for kids toys/garage etc).

Minimising and ONLY having what you actually use is the main thing.

Then it’s really about what YOU use. I have a cupboard (I find it better than a drawer). It fits three containers across it, and I stack inside those. The lids go to the left of the first stack underneath the middle stack and to the right of the right stack. It’s easy to lift out the one I want and slide out the lid.

Stuff used daily, like lunchboxes, goes into another place.

Good luck. It’s utter bliss when it works.

Knittedfairies · 15/11/2018 16:58

I had lots of random tubs and boxes - mostly not Tupperware, but similar. I threw the whole lot out, and bought more in 3 or 4 sizes. They therefore stack, and they now live in a large lidded tub (IKEA?) in a cupboard. (Except for the ice cream tubs which seem to multiply at a rate of knots. They live on top of the fridge.)

Nospringchickendipper · 15/11/2018 17:00

I sorted my Tupperware cupboard out when I got a new kitchen I threw out all the boxes without lids Everything was neatly organised and stacked.
Two years later 😱
I have been meaning to do it again😀

TheCbeebiesYellowBlobs · 15/11/2018 17:23

Joseph Joseph stacking colour coded tupperware

WeeSausage · 15/11/2018 17:26

Autum why would you throw out a perfectly good ice cream tub only to replace it with another one exactly the same size?

Ohyesiam · 15/11/2018 17:26

Oh valaska that made me so happyGrin

Panticles · 15/11/2018 17:34

Yes.
I took all my containers put their lids on and put them in size order.
Throw away anything that is broken or doesn’t have a lid.
I labelled each piece so the top and bottom had athe same label.
I put the container in 3 neat piles with about 3 or 4 containers in each pile.
Each pile starts with the largest container and the containers are in diminishing size order.
The 3 piles are are in diminishing size order.
The bottom of the right hand side has the largest tub and the top of the left the smallest.

FekkoThePenguin · 15/11/2018 17:35

Mine works as a booby trap.

Open the door and tonnes of topless tubs and baseless lids tumble out and hit you on the head.

starfishmummy · 15/11/2018 17:39

I can't throw away ones I only use every few months because I'm not buying new every time ds needs a packed lunch!!

Weezol · 15/11/2018 17:45

Ah, Fekko, a Penguin after mine own heart. I now have my plastic Niagara in a floor level cupboard because a shorter drop makes for less noise when they all fall out.

The cat does not approve of noise and I get The Look if there is unnecessary clatter.

NotMeNoNo · 15/11/2018 17:45

Weed them out to what you actually use. If they still dont fit, keep weeding to one's that nest neatly. Don't tolerate round ones

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 15/11/2018 17:46

We have one of those collapsible crate things with all our plastic boxy crap in it on a high shelf in the kitchen. That works, though it does still need a jhuzz to keep it in order every so often...

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 15/11/2018 17:48

Does washed empty plastic Chinese containers count?

Cynderella · 15/11/2018 17:49

I've gradually offloaded mine and replaced with glass containers that have plastic lids. The lids stand up in a rack that I used to use for baking tins but now houses chopping boards and lids. The glass containers stack inside each other.

EvaHarknessRose · 15/11/2018 19:19

Yes, currently at least.

  1. Lids for ALL types stacked vertically in one container
  2. Round bowls, jugs and containers stacked together in size order
  3. Ditto square ones
  4. Ditto rectangle ones
  5. ‘Mini’ tupperware pots in another container together

But doubt anyone else in my household will follow the system for long.

MrsMoastyToasty · 15/11/2018 19:22

No help at all... but our Tupperware cupboard is known as the avalanche cupboard.

CoperCabana · 15/11/2018 19:26

In my experience, you can have a lovely sort out, put in place a great system, and then someone actually needs one and it all goes horribly wrong!

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 15/11/2018 19:36

You need a draw it works better than a cupboard !

ottertherotter · 16/11/2018 17:13

Wtf is a “draw”?!
