Where the Jeff is everyone?

I’m all bleary eyed, I was really not ready to wake up when DS bounded in with his birthday presents. He’s 9 today! Favourite gift was a periodic table t-shirt :o

Off to meet friends for Pizza Hut buffet later, not sure what we are doing in the afternoon as DH is working late.

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/08/2018 08:31

no idea Cag
I am mostly swearing about dickhead politicians with no grip on reality and on a go slow despite being late for work. Clearly I need to stop listening to radio in addition to having stopped watching tv.

I’m here!

The girls are in holiday club today until 4ish and I’m off work so I have a day to sort stuff out.

Ta da:-
Dishwasher and washing machine on with another Ioad of laundry sorted to go in next
Phone call made
Some laundry put away.

To do:-
I’m now on the bus on the way to the city centre to do some back to school shopping. Unfortunately this will take most if not all of the day including the bus journeys. However, I realised that doing this now child free would be much less stressful than attempting it with children and probably take less time in total than ordering stuff online, waiting for it to come and then having to return / order more stuff if I have got it wrong. So I have made a list and hoping to get it done.

If possible I really want to put away some of the holiday laundry. We have finally finished washing it and it is slowly being put away. Also would really love to deal with some of the BRCs from holiday that need unpacking.

Don’t want to get out loads of stuff for organising and labelling for back to school while holiday stuff is still out.

SassitudeandSparkle · 30/08/2018 11:00

I am here, but trying to make the most of the last week of the summer holidays.

Planning tomorrow as we have an early start - will be a good time to hit the shops early and get the school shoes (dreaded job). Will try and combine it with fun as well!

Weather quite good here today so far so hitting the laundry pile with determination.

Happy birthday to your DS Cag

Cagliostro · 30/08/2018 11:16

Today so far I have made French toast and had a shower. Going to put a wash on. DH is doing the washing up then we are off out!

Realised I forgot to sort out cash, my parents give me cash to get birthday presents and/or give as actual cash to DS but I always use it then use my card nearer the date. Oops. DS hasn’t noticed though.

Happy birthday to your DS Cag CakeCakeCake

Bowerbird5 · 30/08/2018 12:25

WoW ! you make me feel tired zoo.

Hi everyone just catching up reaklly impressed by lists.

Cags ah she must look cute toddling about.the time has gone quick.I found a pic of DS3 when he started walking around furniture. It is with a big panda and DD made a hilarious joke about it when I was telling her seriously he was 61/2 months old.Wish I could remember what she said and share it. Re Playpen maybe try freecycle.I had a very large wooden one where the floor went up for storage. It was aGodsend for DS3.It would be vintage nowGrin For Birthday BoyCake

Hills you sound stressed out I feel for you hope DS cheers you up
.
Re earings yes small studs acceptable. out on PE days and swimming unless taped send tape in case of forgetfulness. They look ok i would go for 9ct gold if you can as less likely to be allergic.

Dentist understand. Now have gone private as last NHS one was awful. New one is lovely so gentle. Need to make an appointment for check up.Went through masses on appointments last year so can understand zoo re denture. Told no one except DH. I had bridge due to accident years ago then eventually another dentist put denture instead.Have new one now that fits much better and looks better.she took such care.I would say if you have found good one stick with them if you can.

I cant believe hols are nearly over. I should have this house sorted and haven't I am really annoyed at myself for ignoring it at times. Today got stuck into dining room as we started yesterday.DD has been helping which is good. Funnily enough she made French Toast too this morning so I stopped to have that wash up put things away and snuck on here.
At weekend I lost ipad. I haven't told DH yet.I took it away with me and only three of us there.I think someone has taken it.There was someone turned up while I was out and we left door unlocked while we went to Mass next door(I wasn't last out so didn't know this). The wifi wasn't on so i didn't use it. Left it on the table i think. Really upset.I hope I am wrong and i find it.I should have put it in the car boot. Annoyed with myself.I had photos on there that can't be replaced, like Christmas. Kids&DH bought it for me for Christmas three years ago. I can replace it but don't like the feeling that someone has maybe taken it and the missing photos are really upsetting. It was locked by a random (to anyone else) number.

On another cheerier note someone i know has highlighted a job opportunity for me. Teaching and assessing adults in childcare. Would lose school hols longer hours a day (but paid not staying unpaid at school) pay is good more than hourly rate by a bit.No kids with behavioural but problems maybe teens at 16. Going into office to look at paperwork pile to see.
Plus no bags of random school crap at home.

TA DA yesterday
Anti procrastination day ... I ordered the kitchen. He was pleased to get order. They will start end of November. I just have to decide between AGA and Everhot think we are going with latter good to hear that no problems after 8 years who ever said on other thread. Still a bit cheaper than AGA to buy.Is it as cheap as they say to run? Need to get it mid November.
I also need to order worktop. I like wood but it needs looking after and I'm not sure DH will. We have always had formica but going upmarket with this to something more. I might have found one I like. Lots are gorgeous but our kitchen is very dark like you need the light on if you are in there.
So pleased I have taken next step. I have worried about it loads and now I have done it I feel relieved. I like Flylady's idea of anti -procrastination day it does work for me. I stop fretting so much too as I don't have to make the decision until then.
Sorry long post but unlikely to be on again today. Maybe tonight if DD cooking teaSmile

foxessocks · 30/08/2018 12:37

Job sounds good bower sounds up my street although I have no qualifications for such a role! Grin maybe one day!

Happy birthday to your ds cag. I got my dh a periodic table t shirt once it said "I wear this t shirt periodically" . Bit naff but he liked it!

Ta da
Been to ds hospital appointment - he is fine and lump on willy nothing to worry about. He did make an almighty fuss about being weighed and about the doctor very gently having a look. The poor man was so lovely but ds was having absolutely none of it. He refused to even put his trousers back on he just walked straight back out the door in his nappy! Got him half way out of the building before he'd let me dress him! 😂
Popped to shop for cat food and few other bits but stuck firmly to my list (apart from the freddos but I had promised the dc a treat so sort of were on my list)
Dishwasher emptied and on again
Washing on
Made the dc tuna sandwiches for lunch

To do
Get ds down for his nap
Hang washing outside and put another load on. Need to make the most of some sunshine because I'm so behind on the washing
More kitchen decluttering
Swish and swipe bathrooms
Empty dishwasher again

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/08/2018 13:26

Freddie should always be on shop list when with DC as not too expensive an incentive for behaviour foxes

Bower well done picking the kitchen, you e reminded me to ring dentist and book app(next in to do)

Tada
Scrub where cat food bowls are in bathroom
Clean littertray
Clean bath and sink, put away zoolets body washes etc they've left out ready for man to come fix shower

Internet banking

Workman now here said leave me to it then use my lav, flush it and head down to tell me he would fit a new one.we gave no sink in toilet so filthy urchin didn't even wash his hands (my OCD is very unhappy)

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/08/2018 13:56

Mmmmm Freddos. Not had one for ages!

Thanks for all earring tips - have been into town and got some plain ones and also some prettier ones for out of school that DD1 had picked up. Also bought a load of stick on ones (that will be instantly lost) to keep DD2 happy ish.

Glad hospital went ok foxes. The staff will be used to children who don’t want to be there. New job opportunity sounds interesting Bower. Good luck tomorrow with shoe shopping Sass. Waves to zoo and everyone else.

Ta da:-
Shopping list completed
Realised I am missing two bits for back to school but that is ok as I think you always find bits you’ve missed.

To do:-
Get home
Reboot laundry
Power hour in the house if time
Pick up DDs

CassandraLamontaigne · 30/08/2018 15:59

Hi all. I've not been doing much with the house though it's pretty OK. As usual

To do
Hoover
Clear hot-spot - kitchen table and top of sideboard in kitchen. Can't decide is it better to keep sideboard to use top level or clear and put in garage. Baby gets into the rest of it so it's really just a surface to put stuff on!
Thanks for explaining BRC to me a while ago - I didn't pop back into the thread until now. I have loads of BRC but I just label them "bits and pieces belonging to X" or "miscellaneous" Blush must sort them!

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/08/2018 16:47

Ooops knew I should've said something else.foxes D's practically lived in children's outpatients til started school as he has a genetic fault and "failed to thrive" if I had money for every time he refuse take clothes off to be weighed or went like rigid surf board I'd be rich enough to have a cleanerGrinthe staff see it all the time and were lovely!

Tada
Rang dentist--as I never went back in April for my check up they need to ring me back to decide if I can restart the treatment plan Sad
Put away all shop from today (8bags worth)
Scrub Silvo on my mother's silver rose bowl.when my dad died my sister dump loads stuff saying want anything gave it,tip rest as I'd asked for photos....in amongst his things was nestled mum's bowl.she lived roses, grew them in garden and j remember watch her cut them and pop in the bowl on her sideboard.of course homegrown they had a glorious scent and j lived be able see my face in bowl.it was very tarnished.o have scrubbed it with a whole pot and it's still a little shabby but I bought a small bunch roses today and cut them into it bringing tears to me eyes see it on my fireplace despite it being 29 years Dec since she died.funny how see sonwthjng can bring back such evokative memories!!!her birthday was 14 th August so I'm planning to try and buy roses at least once during that month and remember happy times!

To do
Disinfect shower/bathroom after feral workman who used leave but didn't wash hands after used loowithout asking if he could (OCD thing)
Clean kitchen
Lots washing up
Need finish at least two loads laundry as lil zoo announced has no trousers/leggings clean and wearing last t shirt!!(luckily she has an extensive undergarment supplyGrin)
Dinner- pasta with tomato pesto, meatballs and broad beans.raspberry jelly and red grapes

foxessocks · 30/08/2018 19:19

zoo that's exactly it - like a surf board! Grin

Did everything except the bathrooms this afternoon. Decluttered a kitchen drawer , chucked out some old utensils. Made chocolate chip cookies with the dc. Dinner was Thai red prawn curry with rice and prawn crackers. dd ate some of it even though it was really spicy so that was good. Ds was just messing around at dinner time. Got both the dc to bed now so time for a posh coffee and some more cookies.

Hope everyone having a nice evening.

Cagliostro · 30/08/2018 19:52

Aww that’s lovely about the roses zoo

Eeek exciting about kitchen and potential job bower bugger about the iPad though :(

Cass do you mean you label the actual bags? That is more organised than the rest of us :o

I am so tired and headachy, it was a lovely day though. Had pizza buffet and then took the kids bowling, then a wander in town picking up a few bits. Put another wash on when we got in, and lasagne is in the oven currently. Such a bloody faff but I do make a damn good bechamel (and have enough for two other evenings of Mac and cheese)

I’ve decided we are going to get back to the basic online learning stuff (apps for maths and Japanese) from September 1st, to start getting back into decent habits, as we probably won’t do any written work until after our trip to see DSD.

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/08/2018 20:39

Nah I am not stressed, I just have no idea how a pay increase is going to help schools keep teachers that they are letting go because they can't afford them. The only outcome i can see from that is losing entire subjects and teachers from syllabus/school. POliticians piss me off which is why i don't watch tv and avoid the news.

Today has been an adventure. But has ended in laughs. I think I am about ready to go to bed though.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/08/2018 20:51

The education system is, much like health and social care, really in the shit Sad. It scares me as a parent, our school lost lots of TAs last academic year as it couldn’t afford to keep them.

foxessocks · 30/08/2018 21:26

Sorry zoo missed that about the roses earlier - that's so lovely

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/08/2018 21:45

Sorry I also missed that zoo, how lovely.

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/08/2018 22:13

foxes at least he didn't pee on the doc. Ds did that to a consultant once. Cheered me up. I didn't like that consultant. BlushGrin

BuffyBee · 31/08/2018 15:47

Hi all.... I've done a permanent nc from honky as someone on another thread said the name was racist abuse. 😕😤😠
Anyway it's me!
Had such a lovely day yesterday! It was my Dgdtwins 20th (yes! I was a child bride and so was my daughter 😂).
We went to a Petting Farm in the afternoon with Dd, Dgs10 and "the girls" boyfriends from Uni, who are slightly bemused by our country ways but join in with us anyway.
Went to our favourite Italian in the evening, owned by two eccentric and very funny brothers, who make sure everyone has a great evening with fabulous food. Then the young ones went off clubbing!
I'm so tired today and haven't really got going and I still have a car with the back seat stuffed with balloons.
I love stroking baby goats! They're so cute! I want one! 😂

MsForestier · 31/08/2018 16:13

Wasn't aware of such conoctations buffybee Confused

Glad you had a nice day. Sounded fun!

Back in the baking saddle! My first quiche base on its way...
