And mayonnaise, mustard, Branston pickle.

We have a new fridge but I know my husband will fill it with 84 jars and bottles of crap.

Give me science!

Yes, they go in the fridge here too.

0h · 27/07/2018 13:36

Yup, in the fridge.

You cupboardy lot are wrong and suffer warm ketchup as a punishment!

CryingMessFFS · 27/07/2018 13:39

All condiments belong in the fridge! Anything else is a travesty 😂

blondeemily · 27/07/2018 13:41

We do. Thought it was advised to do so after opening? Plus it tastes better cold!

picklemepopcorn · 27/07/2018 13:50

In the cupboard was ok when houses were less well heated and food had lots of preservatives in. At some point in the 90s i think, they took out a lot of artificial stabilisers and other gunk.

Also, reduced sugar and salt.

Apparently they can be full of mold/fungal spores which you can't see because of the colour,

greencatbluecat · 27/07/2018 13:59

Yes ..... put it all in the fridge because it tells you to on the packaging. I think 20ish years ago, it al had more preservatives in it and didn't need to go in fridge.

AlbertThingy · 27/07/2018 14:19

Yes to storing in the Fridge.

Fruit flies like to lay their larvae on ketchup Envy

SluttyButty · 27/07/2018 14:35

Lapdance yes mine's going in the fridge for a while later. I had a glass of red yesterday and it was vile because it was so warm.

And yes all ketchup, sauces, mayo, pickle, chutney etc goes in the fridge here.

RoseMartha · 27/07/2018 14:37

Always

rainbowstardrops · 27/07/2018 14:47

I keep everything like that in the fridge but when I was a child, everything just went in the cupboard. Didn't seem to do us any harm

CointreauVersial · 27/07/2018 14:53

Me!

However, the condiment collection does need culling from time to time. The door shelves slowly fill up with crusty jars and bottles if you're not careful (or is that just in my fridge?). Maybe your DH should have a clear-out.

mrsoutnumbered · 27/07/2018 14:58

I never used to but have started putting ketchup, sauces and jam on the fridge in this hot weather.

butlerswharf · 27/07/2018 15:10

Yep all the ones you mention we put in the fridge.

MustBeThin · 27/07/2018 15:15

Mayo, salad cream, ketchup, prawn sauce and mint sauce all go in the fridge! I'm funny about stuff like that and I think they all taste better cold anyway.

HP stays in the cupboard because OH isn't fussy about keeping it in the fridge and a big bottle lasts less than a week here so it never get the chance to go dodgy. OH has brown sauce on EVERYTHING 🤮

strawberrry · 27/07/2018 15:18

Yes! Tastes better to me but suppose it's personal preference!

Candyflip · 27/07/2018 15:18

Yes. And jam, nail varnish, coffee and seeds/grains. I have a big fridge.

Candyflip · 27/07/2018 15:19

Although fresh tomatoes are not meant to be refrigerated.

user1494670108 · 27/07/2018 15:38

All of our condiments are in the fridge (not vinegars/ oils etc) the trouble o have is they they take up the entire of the top shelf and also the top shelf of the beer fridge in the garage.
Clearly we have far too many but for example we have horseradish, Apple and mint sauces. Dijon, English and whole grain mustard, strawberry and blackcurrant jam. Curry pastes, pickles etc
I try to cull regularly but it's a nightmare!

KateMcD451 · 27/07/2018 15:44

They go in the cupboard then in the fridge once opened Smile although I remember my parents never put ketchup in the fridge even when opened and lots of restaurants have sauces out constantly all day too.

SazCat · 27/07/2018 16:15

User we are the same in our fridge, more condiments than food!

Idratherhaveacupoftea · 27/07/2018 16:42

I can remember not having a fridge as a child so everything was kept in the cupboards. Milk in the hot weather was in a jug and then in a bowl of cold water to keep it fresh.

ShowOfHands · 27/07/2018 16:48

Yep. Sorry op but you really should put it in the fridge. Science is not on your side. As others have said, it used to be okay but the ingredients changed and it has to be refrigerated now.

sparklepops123 · 27/07/2018 18:17

All goes in our fridge

fruitstick · 27/07/2018 18:18

Thank you. This is exactly what I needed.

We never kept it in the fridge when I was younger but that makes sense if there was more gunk in it.

I shall back down graciously as a few might accidentally go missing in the changeover.
