I currently use fairy non bio but I’m feeling the need to change. What do you use/recommend. 2 adults/2 children. Lots of washing a week

I use Daz, I just buy a huge box when it's on offer somewhere.
I prefer a biological powder (I think it works better on sweaty gym stuff which equates to at least 1 load per day)
I use the fairy fabric softener with it because I love it smell of it,

LoniceraJaponica · 10/06/2018 16:28

Ariel for whites and light colours. Fairy non bio for colours. Both powders. Never liquid.

UnderthePalms · 10/06/2018 16:29

Tesco colours and Surf for whites.

Aprilshouldhavebeenmyname · 10/06/2018 16:30

Pink surf and blue Lenor.
Huge boxes often on offer for £8 last me weeks @3/4loads a day!!

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 10/06/2018 16:33

Method laundry detergent. Used fairy gel for years but tried thr mehtid one when it was on offer and it’s great.

Actually gets stains out the first wash. So sports kits no longer murky with ground in mud (rugby and hockey) food stains gone etc.

A bottle is £9-10 but it last us as a family of 4 (3 adults but lots of sports and gym kits and a teen so lots of washing) 2-3 weeks. Usually just over 3 weeks. It says 1 1/2 caps as we are in a hard water area but only ever use 1 capful.

I use soapnuts (google them and there's a website you can get a free sample). They're cost effective, good for the environment, hypoallergenic and they really work. I wasn't convinced, but I wouldn't go back now! The only downside is they don't really have a smell, so I do still use fabric softener (even though you don't really need to).

noenergy · 10/06/2018 16:45

Tesco colour tablets and comfort pure for softener

LoniceraJaponica · 10/06/2018 16:46

I developed a mouldy washer from soapnuts.

dementedpixie · 10/06/2018 16:47

Bold 2in 1 powder

loubielou31 · 10/06/2018 16:49

Tesco non bio big box powder and comfort pure. Neither have a very strong smell which I like.

If you're wanting to know "which" say that bio cleans best. Powder for whites (keeps them whiter) but liquid for colours (fades them less). There is probably an explanation for why.

Nanasueathome · 10/06/2018 16:49

Ariel

BettaSplenden · 10/06/2018 16:50

Tesco nonbio gel pod

TentUpFirstBunkUpLater · 10/06/2018 17:01

I cannot use DAZ, it makes me itch

LIDL Colour and LIDL whites

Powder all the way

I only use softener on clothes, not any towels/tea towels/face cloths

SporkInTheToaster · 10/06/2018 17:03

Waitrose own colour powder

DunkandEggAgain · 10/06/2018 17:05

Aldi or Lidl huge 100 wash boxes. I bulk buy when their offer comes back round. £8.99 and Good Houskeeping recommended.

SluttyButty · 10/06/2018 17:11

Either Aldi enormous box when it's in stock or whatever huge boxes they have in stock in the factory warehouse shop because they sell industrial sized boxes. Currently using a pink box of Surf that we bought 5 weeks ago from Morrison's and it's still not finished, cost £8 I think.

Kc1009 · 10/06/2018 18:11

Thanks guys. I'm so stuck on what to buy and everything i read contradicts each other. Such as dnt use Powder/use Powder/ use liquid I'm so so confused these days.

Aldi Almat bio tablets. They are so cheap yet they wash really well, and they don't have a strong scent.

UnderthePalms · 10/06/2018 18:14

I use fairy softener on some things

MissMarplesKnitting · 10/06/2018 18:16

Person non bio powder. No itches as two of us are sensitive to washing powders, especially bio.

Waitrose own fabric conditioner as it smells gorgeous.

ShovingLeopard · 10/06/2018 18:17

IME Fairy, lovely though it smells, gets absolutely zero stains out. It always seemed ironic that it was recommended for baby clothes, given it has sod all effect on poo, puke or food stains.

I think Ariel are overall the best, though the Persil powergems are good for whites (v pricey tho, I only ever buy them on offer). Of the own brands I only think Sainsbury's are any use, and then only the colour liquid.

WhoKnowsWhereTheW1neGoes · 10/06/2018 18:18

At the moment Neutral powder as it's the only unfragranced bio I can find, it does a good job but it's very expensive.

whatamigoingtodo87 · 10/06/2018 18:18

Ecover non-bio and ecover fabric softener.

RoadToRivendell · 10/06/2018 18:22

I wholeheartedly second the soapnuts. Ecologically sound and very cheap.

I take my laundry v seriously, I'm completely obsessive and not a great environmentalist, so please take the endorsement of a skeptic.

LIZS · 10/06/2018 18:23

Morrisons own
