I periodically tidy mine but always wonder ,if I didn't have it would I be tidier?
My excuse is that dh is usually asleep when I get undressed(he has early mornings) so don't want to start shutting cupboards and drawers .

Do You live without one??

impossible
everyone must have one
(although my prime tossing-clothes-into-a-pile-chair is actually in my bathroom )

JackieNo · 28/04/2007 18:42

I think that is the theory (no chair = more hanging things up). But in reality, it might all end up on the floor if you didn't have a chair, mightn't it? DH is dreadful for this - the floor on his side of the bed is his wardrobe, I think. And then he 'tidies it up' and suddenly I go from having an empty washing basket to an overflowing one.

MotherSuperior · 28/04/2007 18:42

Yes. clothes are either thrown over my clothes rail or into the washing basket in our room

KnayedFrot · 28/04/2007 18:43

Dh has one, I don;t, but I have a wooden towel rail which I use instead

twinsetandpearls · 28/04/2007 18:43

we have recently downsized in bedroom chair hoping I would be less likely to toss but all that has happened is that my tosses have shrunk in girthage but got higher!

newlifenewname · 28/04/2007 18:44

One needs a chair for those items which are not clean enough to hang but could 'do another day' as it were...so not knickers, obviously.

knickers go on the floor
until the morning

turquoise · 28/04/2007 18:46

No chair but have a seagrass trunk for tossing onto instead. Couldn't cope without somewhere to toss stuff.

twinsetandpearls · 28/04/2007 18:46

why do you put them back on then?
Mone get tossed aroud the room in passion!

brimfull · 28/04/2007 18:47

OK I am relieved that I am not alone in my slobbishness.
Now shall I give dd15yrs a bigger bedroom chair,it is currentlly a toddler size oak chair she got when she was one.
She is the worlds untidiest person.

i should clarify

i do not reuse my knickers the next day

laundry basket is on landing and can never be bothered to walk to it at night

all dirty clothes go on floor until morning

brimfull · 28/04/2007 18:52

sorry to late frayedknot, don't believe you-dirty cow!

My chair, along with the dressing table next to it at the moment, is my clean clothes pile. I do have wardrobes and a chest of drawers, but only clothes I never wear seem to get to the wardrobes, and the chest of drawers is only partly my stuff - I cleared out the middle drawer but it's now down to the nice pre-pregnancy underwear which I won't get to use for a while as I'm just about to have a baby - everything which was too old, wrong size, no longer a set etc has been thrown out.

Dirty clothes go in the laundry bag at least by the next morning.

This is actually a real problem for us.

A chair doesn't really fit into the room. I tried once but we kept tripping over it and the guitars didn't fit in the corner.

It is causing some strife, let me tell you.

brimfull · 28/04/2007 19:02

Can you not rehouse the guitars somewhere else pointydog?

OP posts:
pointydog · 28/04/2007 19:02

I put my clothes on top of the laundry basket. I object to dh using this too as it is nigh on impossible for me to pull out my clothes in the morning without toppling the whole pile.

pointydog · 28/04/2007 19:05

ah, guitars. I don't think so, ggirl.

We have put one of them on a stand in the living room.

Our house is rather space-limited. I do think our bedroom corner is the best place for the other guitar-like things.

Pannacotta · 28/04/2007 19:09

We dont have a chair, in fact we dont keep any clothes in our bedroom as I am SO messy that it made me feel quite miserable waking up to huge piles of clothes every morning. We have a small dressing room (our fourth bedroom) where all our clothes are stored and we can both pile up worn clothes on top of laundry baskets/wherever else without it making our bedroom look like a jumble sale.
It does mean we are short of bedrooms and have no proper guest room thou...

brimfull · 28/04/2007 19:15

quite an extravagant solution panacotta,I am impressed

SherlockLGJ · 28/04/2007 19:17

I use the day bed.

Gobbledigook · 28/04/2007 19:19

I have a chair I occasionally hang my jeans over but usually I hang stuff up in the wardrobe. I hate untidiness.

brimfull · 28/04/2007 19:20

sherlock-is that the chaise lounge?

OP posts:
powder28 · 28/04/2007 19:26

Mine go on the floor or the bed

powder28 · 28/04/2007 19:26

clean washing sits in the laundry basket til I get chance to put it away
