Hypothetically speaking, if you had around £200 to spend on something to make your home life more comfortable/better, but you already have the basic essentials of a comfortable home such as white goods, sofas etc what would you buy?

Yes to sonos in several rooms

Lovely thick white towels

Nice mugs

Calm and serenity (and clean-ness)

DancingHouse · 16/11/2017 20:42

Hd projector.

I like watching a film on a big screen but hate looking at a big ugly oppressive tv that takes up the whole room.

wobblywonderwoman · 16/11/2017 20:45

Decent bedlinen and pillows
Lighting - tripod floor lamp
Great towels

FriendshipBraclet · 16/11/2017 20:51

A good old fashioned coffee filter machine, had loads of fancy ones but the £15 one from Asda beats them hands down!
A mattress topper to make your bed more luxurious.
Second the cozy blankets and the best pillow you can afford.

flingingmelon · 16/11/2017 21:09

I’d have someone clean my oven.

And the inside of DHs car.

hungryradish · 16/11/2017 21:12

A good coffee machine. Carpet cleaner.

Gazelda · 16/11/2017 21:36

The best pillows money can buy.

And I’d hire someone stylish to come in and create a photo wall for me (you know, loads of pics in mis-matched frames that look amazing together in randomness).

lunar1 · 16/11/2017 21:44

My cordless dyson without question.

Bluntness100 · 16/11/2017 21:47

Good towels. We recently got the Egyptian cotton ones from white company and they are great, really thick, soft, and luxurious.

A good duck and goose down quilt, decent pillows and good quality high thread count bed linen.

Lovely hand soap, I love the Jo Malone English pear and freesia one at the moment.

Nice candles, rhe white company Seychelles ones are lovely, they smell really nice and don’t over power like Jo Malone ones , and the matching room spray is great for the day time.

Alexa in every room

Cordless Dyson for me!

KatherinaMinola · 17/11/2017 10:12

Oh yes, I bought my cordless Dyson a couple of years ago for £200 - I think they are a bit cheaper than that now. Get one if you don't already have one.

PantPlot · 17/11/2017 10:19

Cordless Dyson.

Absolutely nothing wrong with my Miele cylinder but having the dyson charging station set up in the cupboard means the downstairs is vacuumed everyday (it wasn't before!)

fluffyhamster · 17/11/2017 11:25

NO! Definitely not a sound bar! When DH got one there wasn't a room in the house where I couldn't hear the horrible rumbling low bass of violent action films that he and the teenage DSs watch.
In the end I made him move it to the 'media room' (man shed) at the bottom of the garden.

Me too! I have been attempting one for about a year now...Sad

WhyteKnyght · 17/11/2017 16:43

Basically, upgrade anything that annoys you every day by being cheap and crap. And failing that, get either a useful gadget you don't already own or a luxury item that will last (but don't get sucked in by marketing: make sure it's worth the money when the gloss of newness wears off).

Good quality curtains, rugs and cushions (and throws if you use them), though £200 might not go that far towards that depending on how many rooms would need doing. Cheap curtains and rugs are depressing.

Good quality bedding, bedclothes, towels.

Cordless vacuum.

Espresso maker.

A headboard for the bed.

Good pictures in good frames.

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 17/11/2017 17:06

A decent Roomba is £600+ and my cleaner costs going on for £200 for one month.

£200 I think I'd go for a new set of lovely bedding. That said I love my down-lighter table lamps in the living room. They make such a difference to the atmosphere on the dark, winter evenings.

orangeblosssom · 17/11/2017 17:22

Dyson robot vacuum cleaner

TheBitterBoy · 17/11/2017 17:33

Lowdoor my Roomba cost £200 here
It's a basic model, but it works brilliantly. I don't need to control it with my phone or set it going in the middle of the night, which as far as I can see is all the £600 models have to offer. So I stand by my suggestion Smile

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 17/11/2017 17:42

I covet a cordless Dyson so much. Part of the pain of vacuuming is darting about getting it out and I hate storing it. I'm jealous my mum has one.

Worldsworstcook · 17/11/2017 17:43

The fluffy fleece duvet from next. My kids fight over it something shocking, including the matching fluffy fleece sheet. Not brushed cotton, fluffy!!!!!!!

ButteredScone · 17/11/2017 22:24

OP, do tell us what you choose!

BeachysFlipFlops · 17/11/2017 22:28

Lots of chargers, so there is no fighting and no need to unplug wires to take from room to room Grin

Missstickinthemud · 18/11/2017 20:28

ButteredScone

I've just got the new Nigella book and there is a recipe for potato waffles in it that looks great, so I'm thinking maybe a waffle iron?

I'd get a coffee machine and grinder.
