Do you love your home?

Really love it and care for it or is a functional roof over your family's head. I don't think I love my house, I try to keep it tidy but that's about it. Probably doesn't help that's it's not my house but a quarter. Just wondered what everybody else felt

No, I hate mine. Really loathe it.

But we're moving in a fortnight to a house I think I'll love. Hope I'll love...!

Furball · 15/04/2007 15:49

I sort of love the house, the location is fantastic and the views are even better. We moved in 12 months ago and did alot to it like re wire, new heating/hot water system and new kitchen. We've got all new carpets (upstairs) and have decorated upstairs. But we're just waiting for an extension to be built downstairs. After that is done and we have decorated downstairs. yes I think I really will love my home.

Twiglett · 15/04/2007 15:50

yes
love the area
love the house
could do with slightly larger garden but heck less gardening

expatinscotland · 15/04/2007 15:51

No, but it's good shelter so it works.

I care for it very well because I've always been of the belief that if you look after something, it will look after you.

Just found out we will be moving in September and as we really love the place where we will be living, we will continue the tradition of caring for it to the best of our abilities.

McDreamy · 15/04/2007 16:10

You see that's how I want ot feel Expat - but I don't

littlerach · 15/04/2007 16:13

Yes, I love where we live.
Don't get me wrong, there's lots \i'd like to change, like a bigger garden, different lay out downstairs, but I like the actual place.

our previous house was never a real home. I was never that interested ind ecoarating it, or anything really. Think that's why we moved.

NuttyMuffins · 15/04/2007 16:14

I am trying to, but not dong very well. Too many reminders of how things should of been here.

ChocolateTeapot · 15/04/2007 16:17

Yes I do now we have sorted it out a bit. It was a death trap for toddlers before which made it very stressful and I could never relax here until last year. Now I love being here and chilling out.

IntergalacticWalrus · 15/04/2007 16:18

Hate the house,

Love the area.

Can't do much about the house becaus it's rented, so apart from a bit of decorating, it'll have to stay as it is.

We were going to move, but we are on the bones of our arses and can't afford to, so we'll be here for the forseeable.

I find ,y house depressing and claustrophobic.

charliecat · 15/04/2007 16:22

Love the area, pretty village in walking distance from main town. Love the garden back and front. Love my front room and bathroom in the middle of retiling the kitchen and should love that too soon.
However, house rarely gets sunlight in it making it FECKING cold.
Housework is low down on my prioritys, however I do it reluctantly often.

oxocube · 15/04/2007 16:24

Yes. Love it, love it, love it. Its not the best house I know, a lot of my friends have bigger places, nicer areas etc but I just love it. Its got great character, a lovely little back garden that I've worked really hard on. I have lots of hand me down/ second hand furniture but it just makes me love the place even more. I'm not the most house-proud person in the world, so its not always as clean as it should be (see this morning's mice in the cellar thread!) but its a lovely family home

tortoise · 15/04/2007 16:30

Love the fact its in a very quiet area.
But bedroom and front room/living room is too small. As its rented there is nothing i can do about it.
Hope to look into a transfer soon. No idea where to go though!

McDreamy · 15/04/2007 16:31

So not doing the housework isn't an indication of whether or not you love your house then? I just wish I was more organised!

I love the house and the area just needs a bit of decorating though.

DrNortherner · 15/04/2007 16:35

Love my house. Will be sad when we leave it.

A quieter street and a garden would be nice.

Just start small, McDreamy. Do a little chore that you've been putting off.

For example, do you have a dirty wall?

Take some shaving foam and it'll clean the marks right off (Kim and Aggie tip!).

Try to do a little chore every day.

Light a pretty candle or something to make it smell fresh.

Clean out one drawer.

And then you'll find you're looking after it.

When the time comes to move, it will happen.

We've waited a while, and then an opportunity came up. We didn't expect it in the area where we're going, but what's for you won't pass you.

munz · 15/04/2007 16:59

hate it, it's like a holiday home. doesn't feel like a home at all. (think I got too attached to our last qtr and not going to do it again)

serenity · 15/04/2007 17:02

No don't love it as it's far too small and too damp and mouldy. I don't hate it though as at least it's a place of our own.

motherinferior · 15/04/2007 17:03

I like it in a not particularly doing anything much about it way. I did give birth in it, which means I shall find it quite hard to leave.

NuttyMuffins · 15/04/2007 17:03

Have just enquired about an exchange to cornwall, maybe i'd love that

expatinscotland · 15/04/2007 17:04

That'd be ace, Nutty!

MarsLady · 15/04/2007 17:05

Yes!

Hope to live my life out here
