Do you love your home?

Really love it and care for it or is a functional roof over your family's head. I don't think I love my house, I try to keep it tidy but that's about it. Probably doesn't help that's it's not my house but a quarter. Just wondered what everybody else felt

Yep, rather scary but ace. Also slightly weird as i joked about it to my mum last week, and hey presto there is this ad with someone asking for a 4 bed in my exact area.

tortoise · 15/04/2007 17:20

Nutty Is it a website? I want to look into exchange too.

amess · 15/04/2007 17:28

Lots of things I'd change if we could but on the whole, the house works really well for us. Most friends have bigger homes and grander looking too but the area is very good and that goes a long way in my book!

MrsBadger · 15/04/2007 17:33

I'm not a big fan of the house (ugly, boxy and 60s with revolting PVC porch)
but I do love it as home ie the place with the comfy sofa, all my stuff and the Family Badger in it. It's much nicer inside than out!

DumbledoresGirl · 15/04/2007 17:42

I love my house. I really mean that. It is not ideal for us by any means, it is on a busy road which I always said I wouldn't do, I am not so keen on the general area, and it need loads of work doing to it both now and in the future, but in many ways it is my dream property. It is the fourth property I have owned and the seventh property dh and I have lived in since getting married, but I would be happy to live in this house for the rest of my life, especially if I could pick it up and change the location after a bit! It is the only house, apart from the house I grew up it, which felt like a home to me the minute I saw it.

i love my house and I love hte community I live in, at times I wish I didn't as we are frittering our lives away in this town and I know for all of our sakes we should leave.

Yes, I do like my home very much. I keep it clean and tidy, and I am happy with most aspects of it.

JackieNo · 15/04/2007 18:52

I like the theory of our house, but the reality of it sometimes defeats me. It could be beautiful, but we don't have time/money/energy to do enough to it often enough (including the cleaning). It's in a pretty village, on the edge, with fields to one side and the back, which is lovely, although it's also on a fairly busy road, which isn't ideal. It's an old-ish house (in parts, anyway), and sometimes I long for something modern where everything works, and is straight and square etc. But at other times I love the quirkiness of the house.

Love love love my house. It is the first place dh and I bought together, and we always thought we would move on after about 5 years. But, we are still here 9 years down the line with no plans of moving.

It is a victorian semi, in a busy, messy little street just of the village highstreet. Village is nothing special, but has a community feel so at least that is something. People move here and strangely never leave....
The house is cosy, could do with another bedroom, could do with a driveway and garage, adn I would love a utility room... But it has GREAT character, we have done all the work on it ourselves, really put our soul into it. It is decorated with hand-me down and charity shop furniture, including some fab old treasures. It feels comfy, relaxed and at home.
To top it off, it has a 100ft long (but narrow) garden which is sooo lovely. We are only now getting round to sorting out the garden, but it is so lovely to sit on the patio, listening to the birds.

Our own little bit of heaven..

HunieBuniesBack · 15/04/2007 20:08

I like my house, it has potential, lots of things I want to do and all the people I love best in the whole world live there (including me!) so it has to be a great place!

KTeePee · 15/04/2007 20:08

Love my house and the area - just wish I had a bigger garden (and off-street parking would be nice). I know it wouldn't be veryone's idea of a good place to raise a family but I love that it is not suburban. We have done loads to the house since we moved in and it may never be finished but we get lots of compliments on it (even though it is usually messier than I would like!)

penmack · 15/04/2007 20:14

not too keen on present house (only in 6 mths) still doesnt feel like mine. we were in our last house for 10 yrs in which time we got married , had kids etc . was in shabby area with no space but i loved it was a reall wrench to leave it, but new house in nice quiet area so hopefully it will grow on me

ComeOVeneer · 15/04/2007 20:17

Ours is perfect. Loved it from the moment I saw it. Called Dh ona stag do in Geneva and told him we had to make an offer straight away. It is big, spacious and airy. DH has an office so spends more time at home, I have a utility room so don't have clothes all over the radiators, but best of all a playroom, so the living room is free of plastic crap.

VoluptuaGoodshag · 15/04/2007 20:18

I have a great house, we've done some work to it and it's really fab. The area is also good, espec for schools, the neighbours are great, lots of handy wee shops nearby ..... but...... I would love to live elsewhere, with a view, in a country sort of town or village and I'll never be truly happy until I do.

chipkid · 15/04/2007 20:28

love my home. We had it completely renovated last year and I still feel like I have moved into a new place.

NorksBride · 15/04/2007 20:43

I suppose I do love it. I really love the location. Ideally I would like a few more acres and somewhere sunny and secluded and with NO trees where we could put a swimming pool and the work involved in having an old property get me down sometimes. But overall I'm happy! We were married here, DD2 was born here, so it has those ties as well.
