going to lakeland tomorrow - what are the best buys to be had?

OP posts:
MuffinMclay · 05/04/2007 19:24

Oven Mate oven cleaner.
Little pan that goes in the microwave.

(got the tunble dryer balls recently too, but think they were a waste of money

Scootergirl · 05/04/2007 19:24

Toffee Shop fudge - yummy!

Cadbury · 05/04/2007 19:27

chocolate covered licorice

bewilderbeast · 05/04/2007 19:42

oven mate
soap nuts
loose bottom cake tins
panasonic bread maker
messy mats

stay away from the pointless gadget tat, honestly I pmsl myself at some of the stuff in the catalogue, no one needs a cutter for toast soldiers for goodness sake

tinkerbellhadpiles · 05/04/2007 19:44

Lord Sheraton Wood restorer - was reduced from £4.50 a can to 99p a can and it's amazing!

Also, this is going to sound really sad, but I bought a silicon flower shaped cake mould which makes really impressive cakes and everyone assumes I did some fancy carving etc, but no, whop it in, whop it out, icing sugar on top. Woo hoo Instant Domestic Goddess (without having to get the bleach out!)

tinkerbellhadpiles · 05/04/2007 19:45

MuffinMclay - I LOVE my dryer balls, they have cut down my drying time by 30%. They also make excellent projectile weapons if DH is misbehaving

Surfermum · 05/04/2007 19:45

Pineapple slicer.

Admittedly it's the only thing I've got from there, but it's fab.

OrvilleRedenbacher · 05/04/2007 19:46

thsoe mini buscuit holders
great for kids pakcedlunches

they aslo USED to do a small grill - lliek fro two people

also the freezer things fo pakced lunches

OrvilleRedenbacher · 05/04/2007 19:46

OH DEFFO the precut cake tin liners

OrvilleRedenbacher · 05/04/2007 19:46

that fudge is TO DIE FOR

Skyler · 05/04/2007 19:47

You will laugh but I have a banana guard and I have used it every time I am out for the day with the girls and DH steals it for his pack lunches the rest of the time.
Also their no faf cling film is very good and their pre cut greaseproof paper sheets for lining cake tins has been wonderful. I hated cutting those blooming circles out!
I also think their foil is good but we don't use much foil really.

Skyler · 05/04/2007 19:48

I like my dryer balls too.

florenceuk · 05/04/2007 19:49

Cheese knife - even DH admitted it worked, and
Klippits - I always seem to lose these and have to order more

lackofgravitas · 05/04/2007 19:51

Green bags to stop vegetables going off.
Those reusable lining sheets for baking trays and whatnot.
Cake tester (ooh, that sounds like a great job description) - for making sure they're cooked in the middle, saved me a nervous breakdown when making DD's birthday cake.

Heh bewilderbeast, the soldier-cutting device made me despair slightly too.

NadineBaggott · 05/04/2007 19:52

our house

ComeOVeneer · 05/04/2007 19:54

Never heard of Lakeland until Cod mentioned it on a thread, now I have drawers full of stuff from there. My name is COV and I am a Lakeland addict

ChipButty · 05/04/2007 19:54

My individual cafetiere mug. My bistro sandwich toaster.

tassis · 05/04/2007 19:57

baking parchment - normal roll, narrow roll for round the sides of round cake tin and loaf size

a scrubby thing for cleaning pots and pans

an apple corer and chopper

(I thought the bags for making toasties is the toaster were rubbish)

AitchTwoOh · 05/04/2007 19:59

OrvilleRedenbacher · 05/04/2007 20:01

margo1974 · 05/04/2007 20:03

margo1974 · 05/04/2007 20:03

soft fruit peeler
microfibre mop

AitchTwoOh · 05/04/2007 20:04

i keep meaning to buy that stuff, cod, and then rear up at the price and refuse. are they deffo worth it?

CorrieDale · 05/04/2007 20:08

I thought the toastabags were great! And so's the sheet that you put in the bottom of the oven to catch crap that would otherwise burn on and have to be cleaned off.

And the Australian liquorice
