Right then. I've got a Dyson animal upright which is for sale on eBay as I hate it - the worst and most expensive vacuum I've ever owned.
Don't want to make another expensive mistake so recommendations please...
My requirements - corded, bagless. I've got a dog, filthy children, a long haired girl, wooden, tiled and carpet floors. I want something that's easy to manoeuvre, picks up all the dirt.
I've looked at shark, miele and vax.
Heeeelllppp!

Another vote for Miele c3 cat and dog cylinder. Much easier to push around than an upright and way more suction, emptying mess free hoovering a pleasure (almost!)

I got the shark liftaway (recommended on Mumsnet0 - got a good deal as it was £150 instead of £300 - it is good, but wouldn't say it was fantastic, quite fiddly to use.

thegirlupnorth · 22/08/2017 07:54

I've a Miele cat and dog it's not bagless but it's fabulous on all floors.

Either that or Sebco are another brand similar to Miele and theirs are equally as good

I've had all types of dysons and a vax, the vax was cheap and plasticy and in the end I bit the bullet and haven't looked back.

Ok... So it looks like the miele cat& dog is coming up trumps. I looked at the sebo - it's so heavy... one of the many gripes with our Dyson is that is was heavy - not fun to heave up the stairs.
My oh is totally against getting a bagged model (he does occasionally use the Hoover...!!) so wonder if the new bagless miele is an option..
Does anyone have the upright?

I love my Sebo - bought on recommendation from mnet about 4 years ago.

In the past I preferred cylinder vacuum cleaners - but tried the Sebo upright and it's great. I prefer the bags - after years of empyting canisters of dust into the bin it is much cleaner. The bags seem to last quite some time - I bought a second pack after a couple of years..

This one sebo

Cakescakescakes · 22/08/2017 09:20

Miele cat and dog absolutely every time. The bags last for ages. I Hoover every day and only change bag every couple of months. Box of 5 generic non branded bags is £7 from my local electrical shop. So that's about 9 months of hoovering for an extra £7. The extra cost is totally negligible.

TheDuchessOfKidderminster · 22/08/2017 14:37

I got a Sebo X4 as a wedding present about a month ago - not had to change the bag yet but it was very easy to put the new one in and I can't see that changing it would be any more difficult. It's pretty lightweight I thought and doesn't take much effort to push around either. The Felix on the other hand was quite cumbersome in use which is why we got the X4. I like it a lot better than our old Miele Cat and Dog (the bags for that used to last a long time and I agree with pps who find bags cleaner and easier to dispose of).

I've done it - bought a miele cat and dog. £199 from Freenet electrical just in case anyone else is looking for one😁😁😉

I have been lurking on this thread and also bought the Miele Cat and Dog Grin, thank you Mumsnetters!

I've got a Dyson DC07 which is no longer supported. It's been refurbished and the engineer gave me some spare parts for free, but it weighs a tonne and my stairs just don't get hoovered anymore....

I found it on Freenet Electrical (thanks OP!) then got it price matched at ao.com.

terrylene · 24/08/2017 14:47

Congratulations!

Please don't forget to come back and give it a thorough reviewing - warts and all.

I have my eye on a C3.

wowfudge · 24/08/2017 15:28

Sebo heavy? Crikey I don't think so! Anyway, good luck with the Miele.

PretentiousMNUsername · 24/08/2017 15:49

My miele cat and dog arrived today - looking forward to some happy hoovering tonight!

PickAChew · 24/08/2017 16:12

The sebo is solid but pretty much moves itself, unless you've pressed the extra sucky button, then it does give you a good workout. It's easy to forget that you don't need to move an upright around all that much, if you're used to a wand.

Onthehighseas · 25/08/2017 10:22

Yep, our Sebo kind of goes along on its own, I whizzed across the room a bit faster than expected after years of heaving a horrible heavy Dyson about Grin

wowfudge · 25/08/2017 11:06

@Rabbit123 where do you usually buy your Sebo service packs please?

rabbit123 · 25/08/2017 12:11

wowfudge, our local vacuum shop sell them. Either that or I go to John Lewis in York.

wowfudge · 25/08/2017 12:16

Thanks rabbit.

Rebecca75 · 25/08/2017 14:46

It's arrived, it's bloody brilliant!! Half the price of my sh Dyson and does what it's supposed to. Thanks lovely mumsnetters😁😁😁

We have had, since getting our dog, a Dyson, a Meile and a Shark. The shark is by far the best.
