Hi, does anyone use Aldi and/or Lidl cleaning and washing products? Wondering how they compare with big brands. And do they do non bio for little ones?

Don't know about Aldi.

The non-bio in Lidl is ok. I prefer the smell of Persil. Other people swear by Lidl's.

The washing up liquid in Lidl is crap, imo. It gels up and crusts around the cap.

The bleach seems ok, if a bit thin.

LapdanceShoeshine · 14/08/2017 20:51

Lidl bio powder detergent is great.

LapdanceShoeshine · 14/08/2017 20:53

Aldi do a liquid non-bio detergent for babies (called Mamia, which is their baby brand)

Don't know if they have it all the time though, or just on special.

IDoDaChaCha · 14/08/2017 20:54

Ah, brilliant. Thanks people Grin

We don't have a Lidl but I've tried Aldi and I'm not impressed. The washing powder tablets don't seem to fully dissolve so they left mush in the drawer of the washing machine. I thought the fabric softner (one in a purple bottle)was ok but not as nice as Comfort (our regular one). The bathroom cleaner was ok but the squirter nozzle thing broke when the bottle was still half full- same thing happened with the kitchen cleaner. Washing up liquid is ok.

LapdanceShoeshine · 14/08/2017 21:09

Also Lidl's own fabric rinse called Doussy comes in a white sensitive version & that's lovely - has a nice delicate scent & doesn't seem to irritate Smile

LapdanceShoeshine · 14/08/2017 21:14

@indubiousbattle

I always try to avoid putting any detergent in the drawer. I have some of the old liquid detergent dosing balls from way back, & put powder or liquid in those (in general powder gives the best wash of any format)

Tablets can go straight in the drum instead of the drawer, but if you can get hold of a dosing ball you could put them in there, with a bit of hot water to dissolve them before putting it in the drum Smile

I use Aldi detergent. Bio and non bio powder and swear by it. Most other brands bring me out in a rash. Cheap and gets the job done, what more could you need

starkid · 14/08/2017 21:26

Not laundry, but I do use Lidl dishwasher tablets and they're great and so cheap.

CoffeeAndCakeEssentials · 14/08/2017 22:11

We use Aldi everything. My DS has excema (made worse through certain washing detergents) and we found the Aldi non-bio washing tablets perfect for him. I'm guessing it's the lack of heavy perfumes that make it better, who knows? Never had any problems with any of their cleaning products, personal or household.

A lot of the aldi and lidl products have besten the big brands in test and many are which best buys or good housekeeping approved etc. Personally I really rate them

IDoDaChaCha · 15/08/2017 08:45

Thanks everyone. Think I'll start a list of what I need to buy from where as I do my shopping at Tesco primarily, but Also and Lidl are cheap!

I don't know about Aldi but buy:

Lidl thick bleach - really good, I only ever use thick and it seems thicker than a lot of the others.

Lidl dishwasher tablets, work well and they also have unfragranced ones as well as lemon.

Lidl rinse aid - also no fragrance.

Lidl non bio washing powder because I like the smell, am planning on trying the bio and the liquid.

Lidl Doussey fab. conditioner, it smells nice but doesn't seem to linger much.

Used to like the dishwasher cleaner but it was discontinued, when I asked I was told it was 'seasonal', it has never reappeared.

Lidl dishwasher salt.

I don't buy their washing up liquid because it all smells and I think food use stuff should not smell of fake perfume so only ever buy Surcare from anywhere that sells it.

poppadoppadom · 15/08/2017 13:05

The Aldi non bio washing powder is good (fake Persil). The kitchen and bathroom anti bac sprays do the job but don't smell as nice as other brands do.

niknac1 · 15/08/2017 13:09

I have used the lidl washing up liquid and formil bio liquid as my fairy washing up liquid and persil small and mighty bio had run out. Will definitely buy these again, although I didn't get aling with the dishwasher tablets.

MikeUniformMike · 15/08/2017 13:12

I use Aldi washing powder and bleach but I get washing up liquid from Wilko. It is pet friendly.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/08/2017 14:35

I use Aldi dishwasher tabs- brilliant!

Spray glass cleaner- brilliant!

Bio and non bio detergent I swear is Persil. I use the tubs of sachet/ capsule thingies.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/08/2017 14:35

Oh yes, I also get the washing up liquid, it's fab.

MikeUniformMike · 15/08/2017 15:55

Glass cloth from Home Bargains is brilliant for cleaning windows and glass tables.

IDoDaChaCha · 15/08/2017 19:16

MikeUniformMike I read that coffee filters (virgin paper) are good for buffing glass, screens etc. Tried on specs- amazing!

Ooh. Thanks IDo for that tip. Any more?

blacksax · 17/08/2017 14:04

Aldi washing-up liquid is good, as is their bleach.

Auldspinster · 17/08/2017 14:46

Aldi concentrated biological gel Almat is really good.

MikeUniformMike · 17/08/2017 15:40

Yes to the bleach. There's no Aldi near me so it's a car journey and when I go I stock up on heavier items like bleach, cat food and wine.
The cat rates their catfood.

Notso · 17/08/2017 15:57

You don't actually need to use non biological washing powder for babies, children or people with sensitive skin. There is no evidence to show that enzymes irritate the skin. Infact Britain is the only country to have bio and non bio washing powder.
