tinkerbellhadpiles · 23/03/2007 08:04

Bugger that - dismantle them and have them dip stripped!

talcyone · 23/03/2007 08:04

also stripping knife thingy
and sometimes one of those hot blowy things

Does that help?

Good luck

it really is a nightmare job...you'll need to sandpaper afterwards to i would imagine...depending where you are, it might be cheaper to get a decorator (depending on how much you time is worth! )

JackieNo · 23/03/2007 08:13

YOu need the gel stuff you paint on, cover with cling film and leave for a while, then strip it off.

BigCremeEggs · 23/03/2007 08:14

oh defo cant afford a decorator and ill see how i go......

WISH ME LUCK EVERYONE!! (gulp!!)

skirmish · 23/03/2007 08:15

good luck...be sure to keep us updated!

tinkerbellhadpiles · 23/03/2007 08:16

Jackieno, that gel stuff is evil though - they kill penguins to make it you know

It will cost about £25 to dip the wood and about £40 in DIY equipment and a taxi to the hospital if you do it yourself.

JackieNo · 23/03/2007 08:17

Yes - agree, the gel is bad stuff, but so is any paint stripper, I guess.

tinkerbellhadpiles · 23/03/2007 08:17

If you must do this: www.stripperspaintremovers.com/I_want_to_remove.htm

tinkerbellhadpiles · 23/03/2007 08:19

Oh btw the gel is called NITROMOSS in big green cans - buy gloves, goggles and chardonnay at same time.

BigCremeEggs · 23/03/2007 08:23

tinker - the website is "not found",,,,

well i have got a bottle of wine for 2nite as off out to a party - an 18th bday party..gosh i feel so old!

tinkerbellhadpiles · 23/03/2007 08:25

Hi Big creme eggs

It was crappy anyway but I couldn't find the nitromoss one - I think it had underscores and MN turned them into underlines instead hoho!

talcyone · 23/03/2007 08:29

Beware nitramoss stuff....
Tis scary

It burns
[help, in pain emoticon]

southeastastra · 23/03/2007 08:30

BigCremeEggs · 23/03/2007 08:35

oooh i cant make up my mind now

the paint on the banister and spirals are easy to come off

OP posts:
tinkerbellhadpiles · 23/03/2007 08:36

southeastastra - you just like meeting firemen

Leanderlovesminieggs · 23/03/2007 08:47

We used a blow torch on ours and then paint stripper. it was a nightmare to so the spindles so we ended up just stripping the banister and buying new spindles.

southeastastra · 23/03/2007 09:35

yes it's easy to set things on fire if you're not careful! hehe

one of the safety instructions on my blow torch says: do not use to dry hair

Leanderlovesminieggs · 23/03/2007 09:37

My stupid dh decided to defrost the freezer using a blowtorch needless to say we had to buy a new one.
