What's the best type of bathroom flooring to have?

After accidentally giving birth all over my bathroom carpet(13 months ago)i think it is about time that i threw out the rug that is covering the 'stains' and got something new.

We have floorboards painted with a specialist waterproof paint. They are not the original floorboard, but special tongue-and-groove ones that don't let water through. It looks lovely, it nice and warm underfoot and if you drop things they don't shatter! (Wasted sooooo many bottles of perfume in my last bathroom which had rock-hard ceramic tiles)

we got lino a few weeks back and its lovely, warm and soft underfoot and it looks great and is easy to clean, I think we paid 19Gbp a square metre, apparently lino has come on over the years (dh thought it was expensive) not allowed to have marmoleum in the kitchen/diner as thats almost 30squid sqmetre!!

Depends, i tihnk if you want it to last and are planning on stainyg in your house for some time then look at what it would cost to replace cheaper things twice, compared to once for more expensive things.

Im quite keen on lino but dp says it's too cold despite me telling him that unlike the kitchen lino, which is laid on a concrete base, the bathroom has floorboards.

Agree re tiles and underfloor heating.If you want something 'softer'karndean

tiles, laminate or lino/vinyl.

I have vinyl in my bathroom.

I would say good quality cushioned vinyl is your best bet, it soft and warm on the feet and will weather much better than laminate which will warp with the moisture and any spills.

Tiles will be a complete bugger to lift if you ever need to get under the floorboards and they will be cold.

Agree with Articroll - posh lino, known as Marmoleum. Big flooring suppliers inc John Lewis stock and fit it. Great stuff, natural product, non slip, relatively warm, easy to clean and comes in many decent colours. Also not shiny like vinyl (as it is natural rather than plastic) so looks expensive too, but isn't really.

Marmoleum is fantastic, naturally warm and really really tough. Its environmentally friendly, a real Green product as its made from linseed oil mixed with other stuff (don't ask me what ) but MOST importantly its also naturally anti-bacterial so vvv good if you have children crawling on it. Try googling it: I think Forbes Nairn (sp?) are the actual manufacturers but you can get it through most good flooring stores. Comes in a multitude of colours as well.

funny that - i am having my bathroom floor done. on telling dh the colour i chose i described it as 'piss' coloured - helps the blend in the stains.

I like Marmoleum; my sister has it and it looks good.
We have ceramic tiles laid on top of underfloor heating. A little less give, but not horrendously expensive, and v. easy to clean.

i would say tiles, but you need rugs to stop it being to slippy.
