Things I have learnt from mumsnet or I LOVE my Roomba/robot hoover

It arrived last yesterday, and charged overnight and then spent a happy morning cleaning my kitchen and living room.
I watched it admiringly for ages and the DC went to complain to DH that all mummy wanted to do was play with her new hoover.
Thanks to whoever suggested it first, and the transformer advice.
It is yet another thing I learnt about from mumsnet and thanks to you all. My life is going to be revolutionised, well maybe just a little more organised

Am bit concerned about cats tho.. How will it and they react to each other...

AitchTwoOh · 05/02/2007 22:46

what was the transformer advice? i'll bookmark this for the day when i realise my dream and become the owner of a roomba... [wistful]

pianist · 05/02/2007 22:51

They look so small - are you forever emptying it?

blossomsmine · 06/02/2007 23:42

she must be busy watching the hoover. I want to know what the transformer advice was too.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 06/02/2007 23:44

It hoovers on it's own?????!!!

AitchTwoOh · 06/02/2007 23:46

apparently. it's a miracle [praise the lord]

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 06/02/2007 23:46

Where! Link me! I don't believe you!!! I am soooo gullible!

NappiesGalore · 07/02/2007 00:40

seriously? link please.

AitchTwoOh · 07/02/2007 00:40

too lazy to google the word Roomba? you both sound like their ideal customers...

NappiesGalore · 07/02/2007 00:42

lol.

yes.

yes i am.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 07/02/2007 15:11

Oh wow! It exists!! Yes I was too lazy and knackered to Google last night.. but have just done so and I am so impressed! I want one! (Sadly cannot have one but doesn't stop me wanting!!)

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 07/02/2007 15:11

I really thought this thread was a wind up because I am a gullible fool quite often!

NappiesGalore · 07/02/2007 18:12

i actually fell, momentarily, for the old 'do you know theyve taken the word gullible out of the dictionary' wind up once. oh the shame.

i blame my liberal bohemian upbringing personally; saw so mush odd and wierd stuff that nothing ever seemed perticularly unlikely and i accepted just about everything at face value... made for some interesting learning curves though...

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 07/02/2007 18:24

What kind of "odd and weird upbring" Nappies?? I am curious! (and nosey! )

alipiggie · 07/02/2007 18:25

Go on you know you all want one. Fabulous and you can get floor washing ones too. The one advantage of having an H who's Mr Gagdet.

Roomba's , Scooba's and Dirt Dogs

NappiesGalore · 07/02/2007 18:27

oh. my. god.

i have just googled the roomba.

and i am excited about a hoover.

ok thats it; i really need to get out more!

Kittypickle · 07/02/2007 18:30

Before I Google and get sucked in, please talk cash to me...

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 07/02/2007 18:31

Well there is one for £140 so cheaper than a Dyson (which are shit anyway...)

Kittypickle · 07/02/2007 18:33

Oh, I will look then , thank you !!

NappiesGalore · 07/02/2007 18:40

lol shiny, nosy!
well, lets just say my mum had a pretty varied and exciting social life

DarrellRivers · 07/02/2007 18:41

I was also a non believer.
I now believe.
It is so so exciting.
My scooba has also come, as I ordered them and got them delivered to my aunt in the USA and then she posted them on to me.
So for £200 I got the cheapest Rooba and a Scooba(top level). The roomba came free.
She paid £60 delivery and I had to pay import duty on the scooba £40 so all in all £300 so not cheap , but I got half as my birthday pressie and seriously it works out cheaper than a cleaner and it saves so so so much time
Oh and also the transformer cost £18 to allow the USA goods to function on GB electrical system.
It's not perfect ie it doesn't clean the corners but overall amd v v v pleased

my mum has been to see me today and she now wants one
it is hypnotising watching it go around the room, cleaning while it goes.
my DS 18m has tried to sit on it and the dog is a bit freaked out and thinks it is the souce or all evil but she does just avoid it

Can I just come in and swank a bit? Our Roomba cost £50. Yes, seriously. DH bought it because DS has a hoover obsession, which is driving us nuts, and he thought that £50 for the occasional afternoon of peace and quiet while DS tormented the Roomba would be money well-spent. I thought it was a gimmick and was gobsmacked to find that it actually works! A toy that I do not have to tidy up after - such joy!

AitchTwoOh · 07/02/2007 21:11

where? WHERE?
