Am I jealous of those on THAT other thread with mortgages of £200k - NO!

Oh but I wish I had a nice big house!

rhubs, I hope that you mean per month?!?

kittylette · 15/01/2007 13:54

actully thats not true, its £260 a month

Quootiepie · 15/01/2007 13:55

FIL got given £5000 by his mum and he nearly bought an aston martin or something with it, but he put it down for a house. Was a £20,000 mortgage. He died about 3 months after paying it off, and it the house's very very delapidated state it is worth £200,000. What gets me though is he spent about 6/7 times that on cars he never drove, bikes he never rode, over 200 model aeroplanes but always moaned about paying off the mortgage. I wish I had a £20,000 mortgage! He never worked either, he could have worked in Tesco's even just for 18 months and payed it off

Quootiepie · 15/01/2007 13:56

aeroplanes???

airplanes.

Quootiepie · 15/01/2007 13:56

airplanes? That doesn't look right Someone come and correct me xXx

Rhubarb · 15/01/2007 13:57

Oops, sorry no that is per month, for both amounts!

I really would win the "Which MNer has the highest rent" wouldn't I?

Tutter · 15/01/2007 14:00

it's not, 40+

but luckily we sold our last house for £lots so we're getting £lots in interest each month

fortyplus · 15/01/2007 14:01

Tutter - best hang on till after the crash, then

expatinscotland · 15/01/2007 14:01

Me, too! Can't afford anything to buy so mortgage-free here!

MerlinsBeard · 15/01/2007 14:02

we don't qualify for a mortgage so its not like we are even allowed!!!

nutcracker · 15/01/2007 14:02

Zero here too, infact don't pay rent either at the mo which oddly enough I hate, makes me feel like a scrounger.

bigknickersbigknockers · 15/01/2007 14:03

My mortgage is for £20,000 and house valued at 190,000. We pay it weekly £31 per week. We bought the house almost 3 years ago and paid £140,000 for it

kittylette · 15/01/2007 14:04

are you in a council house nutcracker?

when we first got ours they told us because DF was on a low wage we would be rent free too, i felt awful (silly i know)

so i was actully relieved(!) when they told us it was a mistake and we were to pay full rent

how daft is that?!

expatinscotland · 15/01/2007 14:05

Rent £505/month.

Council tax £134/month but will rise 5% in April.

23balloons · 15/01/2007 14:06

I think our current mortgage is about £450 total (can't remember) but we are about to buy another house and it will be well over £200k so things will change for us pretty soon - supposed to exchange today.

fortyplus · 15/01/2007 14:06

nutcracker - don't feel guilty. I've never received any benefits (apart from Child Benefit) but would not begrudge them to those who need them for one second
