Sorry I expect this thread has been done loads of times but I have done an advanced search and couldn't find anything very useful.

I always said that once decent cordless hoovers were invented I'd be first in the queue to get one but oddly enough I haven't yet as people kept saying they weren't all that good. But I have decided that now is the time, but there are LOADS. I don't know where to start.

Any recommendations please?

Hello!

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. After weeks of trawling the Talk boards, talking to parents and researching bestsellers, here are our trusted reviews to help you find the best cordless vacuum cleaner on the market.

Hope this helps! Flowers

I have a v6 and love it! My normal Dyson is now rarely used just for a 'deep clean' even my one year old pretends to clean with the long attachment when I take it off haha! My nan even brought one and she's in love, reckons it's the best thing ever invented haha!

Dyson v6. My miele cat & dog was murdere by me in a moment of nappy brain died and we bought the v6 a few months ago.

It is the bomb. Even DH loves it and uses it and praises it. I love cleaning the stairs with the little handheld bit or nipping out to the car to hoover it. Watch the ads because they are accurate. It really is that damn awesome.

I have a Morphy Richards cordless (Full title: Supervac 2 in 1 cordless bagless upright vacuum cleaner Model no 732000).
I find it perfect because it is not only efficient but also not too heavy to push around. I have arthritis and a spine problem and until I got this was no longer able to vacuum because my upright Dyson, though very efficient) was far too heavy for me to use. My cleaning lady uses the Dyson happily, but I wanted something that I could use and be independent. She still gives the house a thorough clean with my Dyson but there isn't much difference from the results I get with the cordless. Good to be able to do some cleaning again!! The Model no 732000 seems to have been superceded by 732006 etc. I presume they are slightly improved. You can still get the 732000 on Amazon for £79.99. May not be as flashy as some of the high end models but extremely efficient. You can tell it has worked well when your husband comes in from outside and comments on how clean the carpets are when it's me who has cleaned them with the little cordless, not the cleaning lady with the upright Dyson!!

We looked at the V6 today and I loved it. DH is unsure as he says the battery time on it isn't long enough. I'm in 2 minds. Isn't it annoying if it suddenly runs out of battery mid hoover?

I've had a Dyson v6 cordless and I LOVE it .... The ease of use and portability way outweighs the shortlist battery life - I can do a full floor of a house on full suction before it runs out.

Don't bother with the DC44 - it's feeble.

I have the V6 absolute and love it! I had a DC31 animal handheld previously which was ok but the V6 is brilliant. I very rarely get my big dyson out anymore. My joy gripe would be that I wish the charge lasted longer but I suppose that would make it bigger/heavier

I adore my hand held dyson cordless, best buy ever

The charge running out hasn't yet been a problem for me. But I do also have a Neato robot, which I stick into rooms to do an all-over vacuum once in a while. The Dyson is more for troublespots and awkward places, such as stairs, picture frames, round the window frames, nooks and crannies and cars, etc.

I almost rejoice at finding the dogs have brought in twigs and grass so that I can whisk it out. I am aware how sad this is...

I have a Dyson V6 animal, it is light and easy to use. So quiet that my cat does not freak out when I use it. (unlike when I use the Vax 'Harrier Jump Jet'

Flaws: the bin is not that easy to remove and replace. ( could be me.)
It does not perform well on shaggy area rugs.

OMG A thread I started is on Discussions of the Day !

It would have to be one about sodding vacuum cleaners though, wouldn't it? Hmm Not one of the many marvellous, intelligent and downright hilarious threads I've started over the years. Wink

I am liking my new Dyson V6 very much. I find it a nuisance changing over the hard floor/carpets heads so I keep the carpet one on most of the time and it does ok on the hard floor.

The charge is fine. My house is average size I'd say and the 20 minute charge time is more than enough. If you want to do it on MAX, apparently it only lasts 5-6 mins. What I have been doing therefore is vacuuming the whole house, then pressing the Max button and using up the rest of the charge giving some particular area a real good go.

The bin is a faff to empty but that may be because I like to empty it into a bag to see what I can get. The fluff gets stuck up the side of the bin and I have had to resort to using tweezers, but this operation has an "extracting earwax" feel to it which I find very pleasing so no complaints there.

Oh and I haven't washed the filters yet, I expect I shall detest that particular job.

20mins on full charge is not enough for a 6 bedroom house.

Either you buy 3 or have a break in between floors.*

*I don't actually do the vacuuming in all honesty.

I have the Gtech Air Ram, its bloody good. Does 3 bedroom house twice and a couple of in between kitchen crumb jobs, maybe half an hour/40 mins ish?

Noooo it's all about the dyson V8!

Does 40 mins battery life and way easier to empty bin.

Just need to find 500 smackers...

Don't ever get the cordless Vax, it's absolutely shockingly crap!

My handheld Dyson has more power!

G tech air ram is fab, I also have the wee hand held one. Great suction, light, portable and charges quickly. I also have a dyson, which I wish I hadn't bothered with as I find it a bit heavy

I love my Bosch Athlet, hardly ever use my miele corded vacuum now. Good on hard floors, carpet and no problems with dog hair. Doesn't need wall mounting so you can plug it in where ever you like. It was ahead of the Dyson in the Which report and it's cheaper.

I have the Gtech AirRam K9. I love the "off lead" bit but, it struggles with my golden retriever's hair fall. Smile

I used the hand held Gtech on the car today. Very good.

A full charge sees me right through the ouse in carpet and wooden flooring though I do need to empty the bales out a couple of times on a whole house clean. That's a bit annoying.

I used my Dyson v6 just before we went to bed because a dog had brought mud in to the upstairs landing. My husband accused me of just using 'any excuse' to get the vacuum out. Believe me, this is not an accusation he would ordinarily make. Best news--I saw HIM eyeing it with interest, too. Could it be that he will now indulge in as hoc vacuuming?

With much trepidation I bought the Dyson V6 basic model on QVC for £189 last week, they give you £10 voucher as a new customer.

Fan bloody tastic. My new dog sheds copious amounts of white hair which rolls through my kitchen like tumbleweed. No more. I'm poised with my Dyson, like a crazed ninja, throughout the day, almost hoping for another shedding. I get such satisfaction from seeing the little ( and it is very little) plastic chamber fill up with all sorts of gunk. It's akin to squeezing a spot for me.

Yes the charge only lasts for 20 mins but it saves so much faffing around carrying a heavy vacuum cleaner. I use mine to clean corners that have been ignored for a decade, toast crumbs behind the bread bin, inside the oven, lampshades, my handbag, my car, cushion covers etc etc.

Don't worry I do realise I need to get out more😴
