hate mine, its so bloody heavy.

It makes hoovering such a chore, especially upstairs.

But it didnt cost me much, a relative works for Dyson and got me a brand new one for £70 ( boxed!!) so I shouldnt really grumble.

smittenkitten · 30/12/2006 14:43

i am slightly concerned that this is the most popular thread i have ever started!

well, given the conflicting advice i decided to go ahead and get one that argos has on special for £125. some of you will be cheering, others jeering. if i am back here shortly saying "bloomin' dysons..." then you all have permission to say " i told you so"!

tirtedmama pull your hose out (the newer one I think only thou) and u can turn around the hard part of the pipe, inot the felxi bit and hoover the stairs using the handle if that makes sence? I have 2 landings and the pipes reach to the top leaving the hoover at the bottom.

NappiesGalooooooooooooria · 30/12/2006 15:39

no. get a henry.

professional cleaners use them. builders use them. this says the following:

they are economical - both initially and in long run
they dont break down - even with consistent and heavy use
they are light and easy to use

what else could you want from a hoover?

NappiesGalooooooooooooria · 30/12/2006 15:41

hah! just read 2 posts back and see you got a dyson anyway... oh well! see you in a while for your 'bloody dysons' thread

blueshoes · 30/12/2006 16:03

thanks for the tip about the henry, nappies. Will look into getting one after our Dyson animal dies. Dh used one in our self-catering apartment and he noted that the suction was very good. Got a face on it as well!

tiredemma · 30/12/2006 16:24

its ok munz, i found a way around it fairly early on. I get dp to do it.

NappiesGalooooooooooooria · 30/12/2006 16:33

oh yes. they have a face too. and its smiling. cant say fairer than that.
def agree with getting someone else to use it too...im a lazy, slovenly creature, me

I recently got a Dyson Animal with a "ball" thingy which makes it easier to turn and I absolutely love it.

Previously, I would go over and over and over the bloody carpets and it still wouldn't do what it was supposed to (that is, pick up animal hairs in particular) and I used to have to get down on my hands and knees, take the brush off the nozzle and literally "scrub" the carpets with the tube to pick up bits of fluff etc. I used to end up dripping with sweat and the whole wretched operation of doing downstairs would take an hour or more.

Now, it takes 10 minutes and my carpets look clean (I know I sound like I work for Dyson but I don't). I haven't found it heavy when I'm using it (though I guess when carrying it it does feel weighty) and it's much much easier to manoeveure than my old Vax thing (which went to the dump). All the "bits" clip together and come apart at the flick of a switch and they're made of good solid plastic which doesn't look like it's going to snap within weeks (like the old one). Emptying it is a piece of cake and what's more, there's some strange satisfaction at seeing all that dirt come out ..... makes you feel like it's actually making a difference.

Only slight downside is the noise, but who cares about that ?

flutterbee · 31/12/2006 21:47

Another vote for the Henry here, they really are fantastic.

Dysons are just a total waste of money, obviously lots of MNers have money to waste.

kittyinwaiting · 31/12/2006 22:44

I like mine, some bits are awkward, but it's very cleverly put together . It gets alot of use and it has not gone wrong once.

luckymummybigfattummy · 31/12/2006 22:47

seriously girls, it's new years eve. Is this all you have to talk about?!!!!!

luckymummybigfattummy · 31/12/2006 22:47

I love my dyson for what it's worth.

skerriesmum · 31/12/2006 22:58

Get a Roomba hoover robot instead and put your feet up!
