"Superstar" products to stick with

Really I'm trying to save time and know you'll have opinions for me - first off I'm looking for a truly "non streaking, no rinse needed" surface cleaner for bathroom/ kitchen etc

But it also got me thinking about the money spent on products that disappoint despite the marketing hype so I'm interested to know of any "superstars" you've chosen to stick with or keep returning too - perhaps products worth spending extra on too!

Thanks! Looking forward to a few replies before I shop tonight :-)

Microfibre cloths - I pick up cheap ones in Aldi but they are great.

What's your kitchen worktop surface? We have quartz and I use a glass cleaner (any old one seems to do) to get a streak free finish.

CarpeJugulum · 29/07/2015 07:32

Can definitely NOT recommend Cilit Bang Limescale. Pointless stuff. Angry

I love sugar soap though.

bimandbam · 29/07/2015 07:35

I love Mr Muscle for the kitchen. The one in the orange bottle.

And flash for the bathroom. Blue and white squirty bottle.

And zoflora for everywhere!

Georgethesecond · 29/07/2015 07:36

Is Zoflora better than ordinary bleach?

imip · 29/07/2015 07:38

As a pp mentions, microfibre cloths. Revolutionised my cleaning!

I use method products generally, but ecover lime scale spray, a non-abrasive scourer and a microfibre cloth are pretty effective.

Ditto microfibre cloth and method almond wood floor cleaner.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 29/07/2015 07:46

Zoflora isn't bleach, it's disinfectant.

Magic Eraser blocks for me, get grubby marks off all non-porous surfaces remarkably quickly and easily.

MairzyDoats · 29/07/2015 07:50

Those glass cleaner cloths - they're like a silky version of a microfibre cloth and they're absolutely brilliant for polishing washed windows without streaks.

MairzyDoats · 29/07/2015 07:51

What do you use zoflora for?

BrianButterfield · 29/07/2015 07:52

Fairy Platinum washing up liquid - it's not much more expensive and lasts ages. So good for soaking stuff.

ExcuseMyEyebrows · 29/07/2015 08:15

I love the smell of zoflora but be careful as it stains.

I dropped a bottle of it, and being glass it broke, splashing up my fridge and the wall. Even the manufacturer can't tell me how to clean it off - looks awful.

ExcuseMyEyebrows · 29/07/2015 08:17

I second the use of microfibre cloths as it doesn't really matter which cleaning liquid you use, (even just water) they will always give a clean, streak free finish.

Poppy84b · 29/07/2015 08:17

Cilit bang has tarnished my hob. sob

My superstar product is cif mousse for the bath Smile

DurhamDurham · 29/07/2015 08:25

Daily shower spray from Aldi, super cheap and easily as good as the Mr Muscle one which is half the size and twice the price. I've trained the whole family to spray the shower cubicle after every shower they have...the screens rarely get marked or cloudy and stay smear free....I love the stuff.

Tia4 · 29/07/2015 14:56

This is great everyone! Thanks so much! I am keen to try microfibre cloths - I'm well behind the times I know. Are there any disposable wipes which don't streak? I don't normally use them but my sister left a pack of parazone ones and they leave everything streaky. Do you find wipes handy for some things? I'm keen to try the Mr Muscle and the Flash! I do use Zoflora often ...

Plain Stardrops added to water for cleaning marks off carpet and upholstery. It's very cheap. Also good in a mop bucket.

Stardrops with ammonia for cleaning greasy floors - in the kitchen after lots of cooking. Also good for windows - getting rid of fingerprints, etc.

icelollycraving · 29/07/2015 16:58

I like kilrock granite spray, zaflora in orchid or pink grapefruit. Cif cream cleanser is great. I used to only use 'quality' products but when we were broke last year,I bought stuff in lidl & 99p shop. They are very good.

Hello again! I bought microfibre cloths in Aldi this morning and will try them before buying products as so many recommend them. I have Stardrops but haven't had success on floors as I find it too soapy with my mop despite only using it sparingly. On that subject, I have rheumatoid disease and cannot wring out my mop pads any more - can you recommend a good mop for me please? I'll keep this list for reference too - thanks so much!

icelollycraving · 30/07/2015 20:26

I actually have very cheap mop heads from the 99p shop. Stringy ones that wring out very easily. 99p gets two so an utter bargain & can be replaced frequently.

Tia4 · 31/07/2015 14:11

Wow that sound fantastic! Obviously I will need to buy a mop bucket too but I will go to town tomorrow and check out our pound shops - thank you :-) I loved my Lakeland mops though as they could ll just be thrown in the wash at the end of the week :-(

Zampa · 31/07/2015 14:13

Lakeland oven cleaner is genius! Both their deep clean and daily use products are fantastic. Not cheap but they do actually work and are so ready to use.

icelollycraving · 31/07/2015 14:14

I've had the wringy bucket & mop handle for years, think I got them at wilkinsons. If those don't work,it's not much wasted Smile

Tia4 · 31/07/2015 19:15

Thanks - will check there first thing tomorrow

Just so you know, disinfectants that go cloudy in water (Zoflora, Dettol etc) are NOT safe to use around cats. Gutted because I love a sneaky sniff of Dettol
