Bubs they have some on Amazon. They are quite expensive at £12 for 2 but are free delivery/ eligible for Prime.

building2016 · 24/01/2016 22:03

Husband has read Kondo! And the change is noticeable. Whole family games kondo today, very successful and so far no wobbled from hoarder dd.

I also bought her this book which I think is helping.

WhataRacquet · 25/01/2016 12:18

Not Citrus I love that article, especially the sunk cost fallacy. I think the guilt of having spent on things you no longer want keeps you clinging onto them.

I have just pulled out all my moisturisers, body lotions, etc. some have been around for donkey's years so I will fling the oldest and try to use up everything else and not buy any more until they are gone.

stumblymonkey · 25/01/2016 14:00

Bambino...I love velvet hangars, came across them quite by accident a few years ago when they were cheap at TK Maxx and I just needed some hangars. Would never buy any other type!

Nan0second · 25/01/2016 14:56

14 items listed on eBay, having already made £75 this month.

3 large boxes cleared from loft - mainly to go to mil who has left her husband and needs to furnish a new flat (long story).
Essentially a third car full of stuff ready to go to charity shop / recycling / tip!

Have kondo 'd DD 7.5mo clothes as she needed next size and a friend gave me 3 boxes of hand me downs yesterday. All sorted and folded in her cupboards during nap time.
We're doing books this evening.

Can't believe I only started this on Friday... (Dreading papers though)

stumblymonkey · 25/01/2016 18:31

Well....I am just about to start work Kondo-ing my socks/tights and underwear drawers. Wish me luck!

stumblymonkey · 25/01/2016 20:22

Socks, tights, bras and knickers done.
Amazed at how much I got rid of...probably half a bin bag full I reckon!

Love being able to see everything in my drawer....think I might actually be able to manage to wear matching undies now for the first time since I started dating DP Grin

Tomorrow will be gym wear and nightwear.

Nan0second · 25/01/2016 20:52

Brilliant work.
The main thing I'm loving is how storage solutions are "finding themselves" just like Marie said they would!

building2016 · 25/01/2016 22:58

Did crockery today after new dinner set arrived. Old, chipped, stained plates are gone! Millions of random ramekins (that were actually from posh puddings) are gone! Quite a lot of mugs are gone! Huzzah! Charity shop tomorrow.

building2016 · 26/01/2016 13:52

Massive massive load of stuff taken to the charity shop. Crockery, games, etc. Wooonderful.

SnozzberryMincePie · 26/01/2016 16:45

Well done everyone. I did my makeup and hair accessories today. It was easy as I hardly have any and only had to chuck some nail varnish which had separated.

I've also started electronics although the vast majority is for dp to sort as I don't know what it does. I am a meany, I just get it all into piles (by type, eg cables, remotes etc), then tell him it is all going to be chucked unless there is anything he wants to keep. So I force him to kondo. I tried MK 's method of waiting for him to do it on his own but I would have been waiting a very long time!

Nan0second · 26/01/2016 17:53

I managed my half of books this afternoon whilst baby napped. DH will do his tonight.
MIL coming to collect all the stuff for her new flat tomorrow which is great too.
The baby clothes in the loft are being saved for potential nieces and nephews at siblings request so alas they can't go.

NuzzleandScratch · 26/01/2016 19:55

Hi, I was on one of the early Kondo threads, loving hearing everyone's progress! I started Kondoing in Sept 2014, did really well, then didn't do anything for ages, then finally got back to it last week, and think I'm pretty much done! This included a load of stuff from my parents house (I'm 34 and married! Blush), and also boxes in the loft. Such a great feeling, I just love her system!

Nan0second, I love that too with the storage solutions finding themselves, such a great moment when that happens!

I've even got my children spontaneously decluttering now (they're only 3 and 5!), loads of toys to the charity shop last week! (they still have plenty, I'm not that mean!)

I've also realised that I can't remember a single thing I got rid of when I first started this process, just goes to show I didn't need any of it!

NotEnglish · 26/01/2016 21:17

Nan0second, why don't you give the baby clothes to your sibling? She/he wants them, s/he can store them.

Nan0second · 27/01/2016 16:21

NotEnglish: she's just had her second miscarriage in a row... That would be too heartless! I was so excited about potential niece or nephew, for the new person (as well as the decluttering!)
Sad

Chottie · 28/01/2016 05:32

I'm still MKing away :)

Yesterday I sorted out the under the stairs cupboard and the tea towels drawer. It's amazing how little time one small section of the house takes. I'm really starting to see a difference in my home now :)

I work full time, so the little by little method works for me.

I need to sort out my T shirts storage. At the moment they are stored on shelves, I would like to find some shallow open top plastic boxes I could just folder and fit all my T shirts in. Any suggestions would be welcome Thanks

stiffstink · 28/01/2016 06:28

I just realised the big box of books and bag of komono belonging to DH has not been kondoed, nor do I know its current location. I think the little sneak has squirreled it away in the loft instead of actually dealing with it.

Maybe its because everyone needs to store a bag of mixed nails/screws/business cards in the loft, don't they?!

SnozzberryMincePie · 28/01/2016 08:33

Chottie I just use cardboard boxes, I cut them down to the right height.

Today we are going into the loft - wish me luck!

NuzzleandScratch · 28/01/2016 12:39

Dh & I have been tackling our loft for the past week! Such a good feeling to finally know what's up there & get rid of stuff! I found an old suitcase full of soft toys, the case was broken, so that's gone in the bin & the toys went to the charity shop!

We found a really good deal on 64l plastic storage boxes, £9.99 each, so all loft stuff that we want to keep is going into those, so much easier to be able to see what's in them, rather than cardboard.

SnozzberryMincePie · 28/01/2016 13:06

Where were they from, nuzzle?

NuzzleandScratch · 28/01/2016 14:36

Staples. Normally £12.99, but £9.99 if you buy 3 or more I think. They're a good size because they take A4 folders on their side.

stiffstink · 30/01/2016 09:57

I'm 38 weeks now and need to be winched off the sofa (I can scoot around my little office on my chair at work, yes still working). I feel like I should be nesting or something but the house is 95% tidy and there's honestly nothing to do apart from the usual laundry stuff.

There's a small tray of cutlery I suppose I could be kondoing but its a low priority.

Kondo really works!

Nan0second · 30/01/2016 10:21

Wow! Good work stiff - on the gestating and working as well as the tidy house!
Papers 95% done here.
Not seeing a huge improvement in surface crap yet but the beginnings are there and once komono gets going, things will hopefully improve.
4 car loads out already though and more to go!

NotCitrus · 30/01/2016 11:26

For various reasons, almost all the paperwork in the house is now piled up in my bedroom and needs to be sorted urgently! Can someone remind me of MK or anyone else's helpful tips on what to keep and what to chuck? At least ex-lodger is coming for a final prune of boxes and then booking a courier to take all their crap away. And the surplus sofa was finally collected by Ebayer's partner's mate and mate's friend with a van...

I have however finally found the paintings and their hangers I've wanted to have in my room for over a decade, and got them on the wall. Much joy!

Allgunsblazing · 31/01/2016 10:40

Ok. I just received her new book! I have partied quite a bit these past few days, so today I shall be minly reading the book :)
