-change duvet covers/sheets
-change tea towels
-Hoover
-mop
-clean windows
-change towels

My parents are wonderful people in many ways, but they are really really bad at housekeeping, when I was growing up our house was a tip and I never really learnt how to clean. I'd be really interested to hear how often people with more normal levels of cleanliness do the above jobs, I have 2 toddlers and I'd like to have a more normal home especially for when they start having friends visiting.

Thank you Flowers

When it needs doing.
If you don't notice it,and you obviously have awareness of your environment,no one else will.

I work full time, if relevant, but don't have any children.

change duvet covers/sheets: Once a week, sometimes more often in summer if it's warm.
-change tea towels: Every few days, or sooner if needed.
-Hoover: After I dust, so every other day, but we have two cats and their fur gets everywhere.
-mop: I steam mop once a week, but will obviously clean in between if there has been a spill.
-clean windows: Once a fortnight, but I wipe over the sills every morning (cats again).
-change towels: Bath towels, once a week. Hand towels around twice a week.

I cannot relax if the house is untidy though and I have got into a routine - I spend maybe 10/15 minutes a day after work and do big jobs like mopping/washing early Saturday, which leaves the weekend mostly free for other things.

no routine, things get done when they need it. I also love clean bedding so it gets changed when it starts to smell just a little. Depends how much sweatiness there has been! Also make sure hair is washed and I am bathed before getting into a clean bed; showers/baths in the evening save a lot of washing.

towels get washed when they don't dry properly or are a bit smelly - again depends on use. Laundry is driven by weather as I don't have a dryer, but I have enough spares.

dust/hoover when needed or a bit after

window cleaning - again when they need it, which is about twice a year. Don't live in an urban area.

tidy up - as needed. Never too early to teach kids to put stuff away, ideally before the floor has vanished totally.

I hoover down stairs daily upstairs weekly
floors moped every other day
towels uses twice then washed
tea towels every other day.
windows once a month.

We have two large dogs so it needs hovering and sweeping daily

spottymoo · 09/04/2015 16:43

bedding once a week for all
sometime twice in summer if it's really hot.

Pointlessfan · 09/04/2015 16:49

Bed sheets - every couple of weeks.
Towels - weekly
Tea towels - daily
We have a window cleaner every month and we do the insides periodically, we usually leave it too long so it ends up being a massive job.
Vacuum - 2-3 times a week but also use a hand held one in between for crumbs, cat hair etc.
Mop probably once a week, sometimes twice.
We also wipe round the kitchen every evening and give the bathroom a good scrub weekly.

icelollycraving · 09/04/2015 21:35

Sheets: at least once a week.
Duvet covers: once every 2-3 weeks unless dirty.
Hoover: when I'm home in the day so when I'm on hols at least daily. When working full time, probably 3/4 times a week.
Mop: twice a week, more if I have time.
Windows: maybe once a month, the patio doors every week.
Tea towels: I don't use them that much but there is always a clean one ready.
Towels: twice a week.

I do Sweep my kitchen floor daily, or moré than once if dogs are in there, because I don't use shoes/slippers and my Pet hate is bits/crumbs/dust under foot.

I would leave my teens To clean their own pit room but we need To sell and the smell of Teenager is not conducive.
