Laundry and deodorant help please

I am noticing that when I am ironing Dh and the DCs shirts the heat from the iron makes the shirts give off a less than fragrant odour. Clearly that detergent isn't sufficient. Another shirt I ironed tonight smelt of the bold capsule I washed it in which is fine. The others were washed in persil powder.

DS uses Lynx. DD uses kids fresh from boots or sanex. She takes offence whenever I mention she isn't as fresh smelling as could be.

Do I need to wash at a higher temp, use different detergent or something else and what can I do about DD who has only just stopped moaning about having to shower daily and "doesn't care" if she is the smelly kid who gets teased. Clearly I care and make her wash but the laundry is also a problem.

I am not putting so much in to save water. I just did what I thought was right what with never having any one to show me.

But you've said all along that you were not wanting to waste water - and that's why you weren't washing smaller loads.

I'm sorry but I don't know where you are coming from with that comment. I've never had anyone to show me- my mum had a washing machine with a mangle ( 1950/60s) then a twin tub when I left home at 18. I've never had anyone show me or tell me how much to put in an automatic machine.
The handbooks give you a weight guide- dry weight of items.

Not wanting to waste water is not the same was cramming too much in to save water.

There is no point me putting in half a load as there will always be more to make a full load very soon.

I suggest we agree to disagree.

I am grateful for all the help I have been given on this thread for new detergents and temperature to try.

Confused!!!

Maybe not- but the end result is the same- less water used - which is what you said you wanted to do all along- not waste water.

I didn't think we were disagreeing over anything!
I was trying to suggest ways of stopping your clothes smelling.
One suggestion was to leave more space in the drum, so the wash and rinse is more effective.

If you look at the advice online it's suggested you leave 3-4 inches of drum empty above the dry clothes.

No, I do not want to waste water by putting 3 or 4 items in on their own. It isn't the same was washing 50 things when only 35 would be best.

If I have been putting too much on the machine it was because I wanted to get it done, I have not thought lets cram too much in here to save water even if they don't come clean as that would be stupid as I would have to wash them all again.

I have been putting less in today, and I thank you for the suggestion that I perhaps have been over filling the machine, I would not have thought that would make the clothes less clean.

I felt got at. I didn't like it.

Why can't you just leave this!!???

Happy laundry day and hope all the info is helpful!

Hmm

You accused me of something that wasn't right so I put you straight. If you are desperate for the last word, knock yourself out.
