Here we go again- a new month to whip our houses into shape!

If you're suffering from CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) and STUFF (something that undermines family fun) then you need Flylady.

Don't sign up for emails on the Flylady website as you'll be inundated. Everything you need to know will be posted in the thread on a daily basis.

Depending on the stage you're at with FL you'll be:

  1. Starting or repeating FL's babysteps.
  1. Repeating babysteps + decluttering for 15 minutes per day in current zone.
  1. Reinforce babysteps + daily missions if you'vefinished decluttering.

4.Number 3 and detailed cleaning anyone here yet??!

Bear in mind:

  1. You're never behind!
  1. No perfectionism allowed.
  1. Your house did not get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy overnight.

Some of the fledglings have been chatting and flying on MN for 10 years. I still think of myself as a newbie sometimes (even though I've been here for 2+ years!). Everyone's welcome! Old timers, newbies and lurkers alike, come and share your ta das, to dos and a whole lot more Smile

Sorry for lack of OP links - am posting on the laptop that time forgot and am just keeping my fx that the OP posts!

Will be back on August 31st (pretty late probably!) with links for the 1st September.

OP posts:

Toffee Yay! Thanks

Toffee Great news! I remember how shell shocked I felt when they finally told us ds1 could go to the specialist school. Like all the stuffing had been knocked out of me. Soooooo pleased for you!!!

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 27/09/2014 18:24

What is the currently sentence length for murder? Ds is in proper melt down, I am past the point of coping. There is rather a lot of shouting. I might have to declare it my bedtime. But if i don't put ds to bed then tomo is going to be so much worse. :( :/ gotta love an aspie in full out complete melt down mode. 3 weeks and counting [drained]

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 27/09/2014 18:31

alice it was a needs must kinda day. hasn't helped me or even put a dent in what needs to be done depressingly.

How is everyone this sunny Saturday anyway?

BlueEyeshadow · 27/09/2014 19:22

Tried to post from train last night but it doesn't seem to have worked.

Great news, Toffee - hope DS1 takes to it well.

Sorry things are tough Bitchy.

Science centre sounds good, Goth.

We've done shopping, been to the park and garden centre today. More niggling at each other than I'd have liked but hey.

Wine Brew and Cake on the bar for those in need!

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 27/09/2014 19:27

Bitchy my sympathies. Soooo been there with ds1. sigh. I've gotten out a glass of Wine to relax a bit.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 27/09/2014 19:38

It's hard to keep reminding yourself it is not something they can help and that it is a phase and it won't always be like this when you can get them to settle isn't it Alice He is incredibly drippy and i hate to be touched. He loves to make constant random stupid noise when he is stressed but noises like that stress me out to the point of explosion. We are the complete opposite in needs. I am still coveting a hermitage. Peace, quite, no noise and no people. Sounds blissful right now

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 27/09/2014 19:46

Oddly enough, when he is in the middle of a meltdown and I'm getting stressed, I stop and look at his eyes. They're darting about and dilated, then I notice he's breathing fast and he's shaky... and it reminds me that he's not angry, he's distressed. It's the one thing that brings me right back down in a hurry - all I can think of at that point is "god, how must that feel to be him right now?!" It's sobering, because we'll never really know...

I will admit that I was getting worried about how much "screen" time he likes (video games and such - age appropriate - mostly Mario and Minecraft) and tried to severely limit it. Then when we went to a friend's house the other day, all 3 of her boys (close in age) went straight to their video games when they came in the house. Grin No SNs there at all, and it occurred to me that a lot of it is just kids that age and what they like to do. Silly me. You get so caught up worrying about obsessions, you know. Blush

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 27/09/2014 19:49

Oh god yes. we have had the bloody telly is on all the time and you are refusing to do stuff so you are on a warning to fix it or it goes. hard to remember it is normal not necessarily an obsession.

Swanhildapirouetting · 27/09/2014 20:30

Well the two brothers have just had a row over Man United results Confused and dd is in a huff because dh didn't show sufficient appreciation of her selfie (she is now interested in photography and want to buy an old fashioned camera - ha I think it is just another way of purchasing a "gadget")

Today I have

hoovered my bedroom thoroughly
dh hoovered his study Shock for the first time in three years and broke the small hoover Confused
taken ds1 to rugby
taken ds2 to drama
picked up ds2 from drama
cooked roast for lunch
had nap and persuaded dh to have one too, all rather too peaceful as downstairs I think the children were saving up their grudges against each other Shock
dd cooked a cake, dh whipped some cream
we ate it
ds1 did some homework after watching more telly (Southpark film which is obsessed by)
ds2 was watching Panorama Shock on youtube
dd was taking more selfies [sigh]

supper, short meltdown, parents act swiftly

all watching Dr Who now. Dh and I were wishing we had invited someone over for a drink. I have the feeling the children would quite like the house to be filled with anyone except their siblings..

GoingGoingGoth · 27/09/2014 23:02

Evening,

Got the shopping done,
Dinner
Washing up
Washing in
Ironing
Starting to catch up on GBBO and Dr Who on iPlayer

DD still doing my head in, DH went out for milk and brought me a bottle of cider back.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 28/09/2014 07:40

Ds2 and I both have colds, so I'm sipping tea and trying to relax. Dcs are all over the place today and are.. shall we say... "listening challenged" .. today. Hmm It's going to be a longday, and I don't foresee getting a lot extra done. I'm still wiped out from being up every few minutes during the night, as both of them were waking up repeatedly (usually it's just ds1). And my ear is aching. I'd like nothing more than to just go back to bed, but as that's not going to happen, I guess I'll post a brief "to do" list.

to do
washing up
2 more loads of laundry
tidy up bedroom
put away clothing washed/dried/folded yesterday
drink lots of tea.....

Vivacia · 28/09/2014 10:14

Pyjama day here, apart from one of the occupants who is spending the day with friends. Just a couple of loads of laundry been done and hung out.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 28/09/2014 10:40

First thing ds did was howl at me and that is after he tried to spend the night sleeping on top of me ffs it was ok when you were younger but you are blooming 5 stone and quickly catching me up in height Have only just officially woken up though so that is a start, but i think i might just join Alice in the not achieving much today thing.

Forgot to post the links last night meant to but forgot. So here are the links briefly
No missions as it is sunday. Sunday is renew your spirit day
babystep
launch pad

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 28/09/2014 12:03

So much for a lazy Sunday here. I've just had to perform surgery, as a tearful ds2 handed me his much loved cuddle toy that had a seam come apart. So I've stitched it up and handed it back. I had to make ds2 leave the room as he was horrified that I had to put a needle in his cuddle toy. All better now. Whew! Grin

Stewedcoot · 28/09/2014 17:45

Helloooo!

Hope everyone OK!

Toffee Yay!! What brilliant news about your ds1's specialist place!! So happy for you all!! [There really should be a champagne glass emoticon on here!!]] Thanks Thanks Thanks

Back yesterday in time for dd's ballet lesson after a couple of days away. Since then have been busy buying and wrapping two sets of presents, taking dd to party, helping dd with school project, nit-combing and doing more laundry! But had lovely sunny day here today and unusually, I went for a lovely plod ride in the woods while dh and dd hung around the car (as dd has very minor knee injury).

Hope your colds improve soon Alice

Thanks for links Bitchy and sorry you are going through such a challenging patch with your ds atm. Hang in there! Thanks And congrats on humungous Fri list!

Well done for surviving your busy Saturday Swan and glad your dd has recovered from after effects of injection now.

Yay Goth and arf at cider replacement for milk (just remember not to put it on your cornflakes .. mind you... as it's Monday morning ....)! And v. impressed by your 36 bags of croft-grown salad!!

A belated happy birthday to your ds Shannaratiger!

Special waves to Guardian Angel Honu Smile!!

Vivacia>"Have a quick cry before everyone gets home." Hope you are ok and that was only related to clearing up after dog and not anything more serious (although quite testing in itself I imagine!!) Hope dog feeling better too!

Waves to Engels Blue Whoknows Trainersandaches Coffeeandcream and everyone else!!

To do:
print out dd's tick chart for week ahead (the idea is that I point to it instead of nagging [wink[)
hang up navy wash
fold sheets
supervise putting out uniform, ballet stuff etc for morning
sign hwk agenda
label dd's calculator
write two thank you notes for teachers (for school trip)
wrap yet another birthday present for colleague's child and get everyone to sign card
30 mins French study
eat supper cooked by dd (she is preparing us salmon, rice and veg!!)
remember to watch Downton!

Vivacia · 28/09/2014 18:54

Thank you stewed nothing serious, just hormone-related I'm sure.

Nothing extreme done here today just a couple of loads of laundry and end of day kitchen routine. Not even done the bathroom.

Stewedcoot · 28/09/2014 20:17

Crikey, I could get used to this!!

DD has just replicated her Wednesday school cookery lesson in its entirety and has prepared for dh and me: pan seared salmon with a light creme fraiche sauce with dill, rice, followed by mini-choc puddings baked in tiny coffee cups!! It was absolutely delicious!! [proud ma emoticon] Smile

Stewedcoot · 28/09/2014 20:18

Vivacia relieved to hear it and if it's any consolation - my hormones are all over the place atm too!

GoingGoingGoth · 28/09/2014 20:29

Stewedcoot that sounds lovely. I think you should encourage her replicating her cookery lesson every Sunday.

I am also joining the Sunday sick call, started with excruciating sinuses/headache, then nausea and finally a temperature. So have spent most of the day in bed, with DH & DD looking after me.

Feel much better now, and am working up to getting the beds changed.

Vivacia · 28/09/2014 20:29

Blimey, that's impressive! (Your daughter's cooking, not your hormones).

BlueEyeshadow · 28/09/2014 22:08

Wow! Sounds delicious SC - a far cry from anything we ever made in HE!

Hope you feel better soon, Goth.
