Here we go again- a new month to whip our houses into shape!

If you're suffering from CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) and STUFF (something that undermines family fun) then you need Flylady.

Don't sign up for emails on the Flylady website as you'll be inundated. Everything you need to know will be posted in the thread on a daily basis.

Depending on the stage you're at with FL you'll be:

  1. Starting or repeating FL's babysteps.
  1. Repeating babysteps + decluttering for 15 minutes per day in current zone.
  1. Reinforce babysteps + daily missions if you'vefinished decluttering.

4.Number 3 and detailed cleaning anyone here yet??!

Bear in mind:

  1. You're never behind!
  1. No perfectionism allowed.
  1. Your house did not get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy overnight.

Some of the fledglings have been chatting and flying on MN for 10 years. I still think of myself as a newbie sometimes (even though I've been here for 2+ years!). Everyone's welcome! Old timers, newbies and lurkers alike, come and share your ta das, to dos and a whole lot more Smile

Sorry for lack of OP links - am posting on the laptop that time forgot and am just keeping my fx that the OP posts!

Will be back on August 31st (pretty late probably!) with links for the 1st September.

Cross-posted with Soot, sympathy for you too.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 06/09/2014 21:29

Nah your safe Engels i am on a mission to self destruct atm. Life isn't too great and health issues are seriously getting me done. Just about to take some very strong meds and pass out in a corner. Hoping a good night sleep will help but know it won't atm. especially as the meds I am taking atm make me paranoid and slightly suicidal but there isn't an alternative and until these fucking cluster migraines fuck off I am stuck with the med induced low mood which is not helped by the health induced low mood

Alice is the wizard with the shredding sissors - she posted a link last month I think. Am very impressed with them.

BlueEyeshadow · 06/09/2014 22:58

Just wrote long post and lost it due to stupid phone.

Gist was sorry to hear about the tough times people are having. Interesting to see the different music situations too. Will have to look into how that works under the new regime. Confused

Most of today has been party prep and lunch out with ILs for DS2's birthday. Quite pleased with the way his cake turned out. Can't seem to rotate the picture though...

Cool cake Blue!

I hope today is better for all of you who had shitty days yesterday.

I woke up ridiculously early (around 5am) and can't get back to sleep. So I have given in and got up to make myself a cuppa. Have been browsing the library catalogue and reserving books that I probably won't get time to read.

DS1 has a football tournament today, so that gets him and DH out from under my feet Grin.

To do
3 loads of washing (1 is in the machine already)
Make DS1 and DH sandwiches to take to football tournament
Take DS2 and DD to church
A small mountain of ironing - I didn't do any yesterday in the end
Cook roast chicken for dinner tonight
Cook a cottage pie for tomorrow night's dinner, so that I can just bung it in the oven between getting home from work and taking DD to Brownies
Clean out the fridge while it is fairly empty (Tesco delivery tomorrow night)
Help DS2 with his homework
Test DD's spellings
Supervise music practice
Clean school shoes

CallingAllEngels · 07/09/2014 07:35

Morning all.

Sorry to hear you're having such a rubbish time of it bitchy .

My mother is horrified that I don't make ds's bday cake blue .

Ds woke me up at 6.30 and after ignoring him for an hour I gave up and came downstairs with him.

going for a walk this morning and would also like to get a wash done and a few admin bits on computer (book ferry and order photos).

Dawn of a new day...what doesn't kill you makes you stronger...onwards and upwards. I am applying all of these to my day today.

To do:-
Pray sun comes out
Washing (already on)
Dishwasher unload and reload
Pick dc's up from stbxh
Homework (for ds and I)
Country park for a few hours this afternoon
Dinner (roast if anyone is interestedWinkGrin)
Bags/clothes etc ready for the morning.

Have a good day everyone!

Stewedcoot · 07/09/2014 09:44

More power to your elbow Ellie and sorry to hear it's such tough going for you at the moment. Cake Sounds like you have a lovely day planned! Hope you enjoy it. (Always interested in a roast Wink.)

Bitchy hope you start to feel a bit better soon - the meds situation sounds really difficult Thanks

Soot hope things improve for you soon too! That sounds really unfair on the part of your dh. Cake

Blue very impressed with the cake!

Feathery greetings to everyone else!

Enjoy your Sundays everyone! Lovely and sunny here. Feeling surprisingly good after imbibing far too much wine with lovely friends last night. Bit of a surreal occurrence when we walking back home at around midnight when a huge dog appeared out of the blue and sort of attached itself to us. Long story but it turned out it was the dog belonging to a local pub that had gone too far out of its comfort zone but fortunately dh was able to return it safely.

Right off to do a bit of washing, a bit of shopping, a bit of cooking, a bit of hwk supervision and a whole load of watching WEG! Grin

Have a good Sunday everyone!

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 07/09/2014 10:19

Gotten a fair bit done today. Trying to avoid AIBU for awhile (as some people are just incredibly stupid on there), and hopefully that will spur me on to do more cleaning. Grin

Sootball · 07/09/2014 10:31

Thank you for the Cake DH never says sorry but he has let me go back to bed for an hour while baby sleeps. I'm just sick of it, especially as I feel I can't go back to work FT at my old salary until both DC are a bit older because I need the flexibility to deal with dd1s disabilities and be there for emergencies.

Anyway. Today my plans are simple, make DH do all the childcare and I'll;

Finish the kitchen organisation station, this will have a calendar at the top followed by the daily tasks (so what needs to be done every day) followed by the flylady cleaning routine (I'll be flying on Monday and Friday afternoons) with a food menu at the bottom. We've a thin pillar next to our oven which I've adopted. I'm also using post it's to record anything we run out of. We're on a frugal approach until Christmas so I don't want any waste.

laundry on and out it's sunny here
pot up my strawberry runners
three hours work yuck but meeting at 9 am tomorrow and I've not prepared
roast for dinner
everyone in clean PJ'S after baths

BLUE I love the cake
DC I think the dog would have had me proper spooked!

CallingAllEngels · 07/09/2014 10:42

Ta da
wash on
almost finished photo album from last summer -has been sitting half done on my dining table since MAY

To do
finish the darn album
book ferries

am looking at toddler bookcases for ds. Soon his room will be rather empty once the baby furniture is out. We'll have to get him some clothes storage as well.

OP posts:
AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 07/09/2014 10:56

Engels I have bookcases in every bedroom in this house. The boys each have one (and they are both quite full!) and mine is overflowing, with about 4 (or more) boxes of books under the bed and by the wall. I try to rotate my books a bit so I can reread them. I need a mansion with a library room. Grin

BlueEyeshadow · 07/09/2014 11:19

Alice I totally need a library! We have overflowing bookcases in almost every room in the house...

Rather a noisy morning here as DS2 has been given 3 different loud, battery operated, remote control toys. Grin at the moment but may soon turn to Angry!

Brew and Cake anyone? Thanks for the cake appreciation - definitely the best I've managed yet. :)

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 07/09/2014 11:30

Morning. finally got a good night's sleep. which has helped my mood a bit. I have a whole heap of stuff that needs to be done but am currently cba to move. I have to as there is no clean school uniform for tomo and I need to go get ds later. but as I do need a rest day...

threeislovely · 07/09/2014 11:52

Morning.

Glad you had a good sleep bitchy - hope you have a nice day today.

Blue your cake is amazing - DS is still dithering about bought cake / made cake, which is good as it needs to be done today!

Alice I totally agree about a library - we just eliminated lots of books, which is really hard, but I still don't have enough space!

Ta Das:

Morning routine
Cleaned DD's room and organised underbed storage so that we could build bigger bookcase
Stripped and re-made beds
Laundry out to dry
Bedding washing
Hoovering done downstairs
DS and DD de-cluttered cuddly animals thank goodness the enormous monstrosity is now being delivered to charity shop

To Dos:

Build bookcase
Buy cat litter and kitten foodepic fail yesterday!!
Sort DS cake and wrap presents
Persuade DH to mow lawn
Plan new family organisation station

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 07/09/2014 12:17

Okay. Here's where I step into fantasy land. I thought one day that I would be thrilled if I could hire someone to put narrow depth shelving from floor to ceiling on the long open wall of my dining room and fill it with books. I would LOVE it. And to be fair, it'd look very cool. It's one of those plans that I keep in reserve for when I'm feeling daring. Grin

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 07/09/2014 12:28

Oooo we did this in one room Alice we bought floor boards. fairly cheap and just the right deapth for normal novel type books. Also a bit of 1x1 batting for holding the shelves up. Actually very easy to do on a short wall, suspect you'd need a central support in the middle if you have a long long wall. But not that difficult for someone with who seems to be able to turn their hand to most diy stuff.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 07/09/2014 12:51

The walls are kind of crap here (sorry, no other way to put it). So if I was going to put it up, I think I would hire someone to do it (or ask someone I trust to do a good job to help me do it).

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 07/09/2014 13:10

Alice why the fuck are you appologising for a mild cuss word? ffs swearing is allowed here and always has been. which is a bloody good job too.
Point taken about the condition of the walls though. it is harder when walls are unstable.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 07/09/2014 13:20

sorry. Been around a 5yo and 8yo all day so am in No Swear Words Mode. hahahahahahaa fuck fuck fuckity fuck (is that better? Grin)

I have rigged up a makeshift curtain rod in my dining room. It ain't pretty, but by god it's solid and it'll do for now. Money has to go to vacuum first, sewing machine second, and divorce third. (oh and Christmas) so I don't want to be fussing over buying a curtain rod right now.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 07/09/2014 13:23

Much thanks GrinGrin yay for solid makshift curtain poles.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 07/09/2014 13:25

To give you an idea... it's two of those metal hooks that you put on the wall to hang up things in your garage or shed - it's only about 4 inches long, but has a lovely wide "hook" on the end so perfect for holding a pole. Glory be!! Off to dig out a nice curtain from my stash.

ToffeeWhirl · 07/09/2014 13:30

I love the way you have divorce on your list, Alice - sorry, I know it's not funny in itself, but it looks so incongruous on that list Grin.

Re: swearing - DH told me off for inappropriate language in front of DS2 yesterday (I said I was "pissed off" that he always groaned when I wanted to take a photo, yet he was apparently allowed to take photos whenever he liked Angry), so I know what you mean about going into No Swear Words Mode, except mine had fizzled out (not that I was effing and blinding).

We had a wonderful evening out in Brighton yesterday - it was so beautiful, especially when all the pier lights came on. We could only stay a couple of hours, because DS1 was home alone, but it was fun. We were a bit startled, though, when a huge seagull swooped down on us and snatched half of DS2's fish - cheeky thing! I felt its wing brush my face, it was so close.

Have just waved friend off on the train and DS2 and I are now going into work with DH to pack up some parcels. Am going back to work on my essay later.

Hope everyone has a good day.

.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 07/09/2014 13:42

Toffee one of the distinctions that I could never get across to stbx was that I wasn't that fussed if we slipped occasionally and said a bad word in front of the dcs, but that I didn't want ANY swearing AT the dcs. Sadly, he couldn't control either of those. Hmm
