April's Fledgling Fliers: there's no fooling the Fat Fairy this month.

In a blatant steal from last month's thread:

So here we are, April already.

So for those who don't know the fledglings is a long running thread. Some of us seem clicky but that is because we have been chatting on these threads for nearly half a decade makes everyone feel old we quite like fresh blood though so feel free to jump in and join us.

Three key points to keep in mind:
(1)No perfectionism allowed - this is harder than you would imagine
(2)You are never behind just start where you are and anything you do is progress.
(3) It didn't get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy over night - accept it will take time to get on top of things and you will be happier.

If you are new then trying to spend 15mins decluttering and the babysteps is the most. Some of us Bitchy can have scary looking lists. One word of advice ignore them. Do what you can, anything is better then nothing, and don't judge yourself against others

Good food, good company, over tired and ready for bed Grin going to chalk that up as a good and productive day

MercuryRising · 21/04/2014 07:17

We had a fantastic Easter with a great family lunch and egg hunt at my sisters and a walk along the canal.

Sadly though after doing very little yesterday I need to get lots done today starting with putting the finishing touches to my assignment which will be handed in tomorrow.

I will be back soon to report my progress and post a proper to do list. I am feeling determined.

CallingAllEngels · 21/04/2014 09:04

Morning all - hope you all ahd a lovely Easter Sunday!

We spentethe dayat ILs caravan. Sunny and lovely, even though SIL had a bit of a snipe at DH (for past comments he deserved it but didn't make for a very harmonious atmopshere to start off the day) and engaged in competitive baking- I made a quiche (which bil interrogated me on contents before he would eat as they are all superfussy) and chocolate cornflake nests, and she made a cake which of course we HAD to eat first with coffee even though when I complimented her on how light it was and asked what was in it she told me it was a pre-mix from supermarket which in my book is cheating Grin

MY family is so much simpler, no sniping, everyone just gets along and mucks in and eats everything in sight. Good job we're heading to UK on Wednesday and have decided we're going on a beach holiday in France with Dsis and BIL who are lovely.

And in other Engels news, I have a BFP! Early days and really want to get through the next few weeks (both my mcs were before 7 weeks) but if all goes well we may have a dc2 before the end of the year.

To do today
sort out washing
washing up...kitchen looks like a bomb site
hotspot
hoover
front garden
book concert tickets
if it's not raining, then will go outisde with ds

ToffeeWhirl · 21/04/2014 10:00

Great news, Engels Grin. Shouldn't you be taking it easy now? (Perfect excuse!).

And well done on finishing your assignment, Mercury!

DH is going to work. I need a plan for today otherwise I'll sit on my arse browsing on MN all day.

Stuff to do:

Basic Flying
Two rooms need tidying: DS2's bedroom and ours. Don't know where to start, but ours is more horrifying.
Washing and ironing
Get DC outside
Do some OU work and prepare for tutorial on Wed
Phone friend and DM
Home ed prep
Lamb leftovers - make something with them Hmm

ToffeeWhirl · 21/04/2014 10:12

Making this leftover lamb recipe today Smile.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 21/04/2014 10:19

Okay. Tomorrow will be back to getting more things done again.

ta da
usual morning routine
washing up
one load of laundry washed and now in dryer
sprayed a few spiders outside the windows (yep mean me)

to do
sweeping
mopping (in evening)
bake cookies
meal plan for week

I wish I could get rid of the bees that seem to laze about our garden. I'm allergic and it's maddening, really. There are just a few persistent ones (that I'm reasonably certain have a stereo sound system attached to their bum they are so loud), but I just want them to go away.

CallingAllEngels · 21/04/2014 10:43

Trying to make the most of not feeling rubbish yet toffee . With DS I had horrible nausea between 6 and 12 weeks so am bracing myself for that!

DH has just out our lamb shoulder in the oven to slow roast but have just shown him your hotpot recipe for tomorrow toffee and know what we're eating tomorrow!

well done mercury !

Coming over all gery and rainy now and DH is heading out to work in the garage so I will carry on with inside jobs. May have to put a family film on later while I continue with our photo album from last year.

ta da
washing up
cleaned sink
Tidied kitchen
hoovered
wash #1 on

ToffeeWhirl · 21/04/2014 10:47

I remember that nauseous feeling so well, Engels Sad. Can understand you trying to get things done before it strikes, but don't overdo it.

Glad the hotpot recipe has inspired your DH Smile.

CallingAllEngels · 21/04/2014 11:17

Ta da
Made a very impressive toot toot track for DS!
Left over quiche in oven for lunch

going to do computer related stuff now, then snuggle with film and photo album. Rainy outside now so not going to head into garden.

BitchyVstheUFOs · 21/04/2014 12:13

I am quite grateful that the weather has held here. There is a lot that needs doing in the garden and i think being cooped up will just prove how we are like your DH's family Engels we snipe pretty damn good sometimes holidays and high days

As you know I have been trying to cull my craft stock (wool stock/ufos/usps etc etc) I have just been given a large box of wool. I am not sure whether to laugh or cry. I have, however, smiled and thanked the person. I suspect that I will be very busy on behalf of the woolly huggers so that I can get it used and culled and removed from the house. sighs at additional work load

So the to do list looks like this:
do not kill anyone
try not to get in any more arguments
butcher stuff in the garden
send stuff to tip
get charity shop stuff collected together and in a car ready to go tomo
work on culling the blue speckled hug

Gotta go ds is making a very very annoying noise. Hmm

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 21/04/2014 13:42

Oh, and the bees seem to be too clever for the bottle trick. Damn them anyway. Angry

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 21/04/2014 15:08

Arggghhh! I've figured out why so many bees. I think there's a bees nest/hive by someone else's shed/fence area behind our garden - but it's like a hub (pointy end of gardens) so it's hard to tell whose it is as everyone has a shed back there so it blocks the view. But wow is the buzzing loud. It appears to be at least one over from me - so maybe 20 feet or so at least? But loads of bees flying around. Not sure what to do about that. Perhaps I can find things that bees don't like and put them in the back portion of my garden?

Castlelough · 21/04/2014 15:08

Just popping by to say hi and happy Easter to you all! I just couldn't keep up with the thread, and was rolling along on the runway with a flat tyre for way too long. Hope to get up in the air again for May and join the rest of you flybabies! Hope everyone is going well xx

Castlelough · 21/04/2014 15:11

Oh, and congrats Engels!!! Grin

BitchyVstheUFOs · 21/04/2014 16:03

The bottle/jar trick will only work on wasps. Not bees. Bugger about the nest but if they are bumble bees they are protected and you can't disturb them, Double problem if they are ruby bum bumble bees. I am not sure what the situation is wrt regular bees though. But worth checking as there might be some legislation due to the fact that the honey bees are now heading towards being endangered.

We have been butchering things in the garden, dealing with the climbing frame that require some tlc. I am now dead. And ds is still over tired and grumpy. Early night tonight before he goes back to school tomo is the plan.

My plan for tomo invloves films and a hook. Should keep me suitably out of trouble. Need to cull some of this wool off. Asap. Hmm

ToffeeWhirl · 21/04/2014 16:58

Ta da

Swished and swiped in bathroom
Made lamb stock and put on to simmer for hours
Lunch
Went for walk with DS1
Loaded d/w, then remembered we've run out of d/w powder
Left stuff in d/w till tomorrow, but washed up everything else
Spent an hour tidying our bedroom: bagging rubbish, putting away clothes; finding stuff to iron; hoovering. Can see some of the floor now!
Drained stock and cooled
Made lamb hotpot (now cooking)
Spoke to DM on phone

Still to do: ironing; work; prepare home ed stuff; phone friend; usual evening routine; OU work.

ToffeeWhirl · 21/04/2014 17:02

DS1 has decided to spend his Easter money on edible insects. Says he's always wanted to see what they taste like. I said ok, but I don't want to be in the house when he does it!

PeanutPatty · 21/04/2014 17:10

Congratulations Engels! GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin I suffered badly with nausea so totally feel and sympathise for you. It can be so debilitating. Hard work when you've dc1 to care for.

Hello to all other flyers!

Ta Da's
Minis washed, dressed and fed
Two loads of washing done
One on airer and rest in TD
Mutts walked
Minis exercised alongside mutts - mainly chaos but literally just manageable
Kitchen tops wiped down
Floors swept
Bottom of bath wiped and de-grotted

To Do
Shit loads to be honest

newlark · 21/04/2014 18:51

Back from very nice two days at my parents - dcs enjoyed the easter egg hunt in the garden (though i forgot to count the eggs so hope I haven't left any to get rained on!). Well done on finishing your assignment Mercury - that is always a danger time for me as I don't know what to do with myself and end up signing up for something else I don't have time for Grin instead of getting on with jobs I have been ignoring.

Back to school etc tomorrow so have started a list:
To do tonight:
Check school uniform (summer dresses still long enough for rapidly growing dd?)
Pack book bags
Check PE kit
Get lunch boxes out so I don't forget in the morning
Hang up washing
Marking

To do tomorrow:
Rearrange hairdresser
Take school lunch form into office
Check dance rehearsal times
Marking
Plan tutorial
Food shopping
Make dentist appts for all of us
Start work on OU short module (just doing a 10 pointer then hopefully 30 in Oct)
Mop wooden/tiled floors

hotcrossbabblehag · 21/04/2014 20:48

Congratulations Engels! that's brill news !!

spent a lovely day out with the family, we went to bewilderwood, the kids loved it,at one point the smallest was running and squealing with glee at the same time and spent the majority of the time with his tongue out! we had 3 tired and mucky boys when we got back 2 are clean and in bed now. just need to convince ds1 that a bath is good for his health!

Swanhildapirouetting · 21/04/2014 20:49

Engels eggciting!!!!
Toffee still haven't found what I call Best End of Neck in any supermarket butcher to make my M & S 70's recipe for Lancashire hotpot.

We had an Easter Egg hunt on Sunday, went to mass, heating broke Hmm so I was forced to take two dcs to swimming pool for a bath today, so swim, outing, dd watched Rango to understand desert adapations for geography, and ds1 has been on long walk to buy his new dsi game. Ds2 did a tiny bit of homework and screamed a lot about the homework he refused to do, and we had dd's friend over.

I think that is enough for now, tomorrow we have a private SALT visit for ds2, just an assessment really, but I may have to tidy kitchen Hmm

done
recycling
hung out washing
rescued kitchen
dw
supper cooked, couscous, stirfry and chilli salmon, also bacon, don't ask why

am now in bed keeping warm, and have drunk some strawberry cider from Sweden.

BlueEyeshadow · 21/04/2014 21:15

Oh, we love Bewilderwood, Babblehag. Are you in this neck of the woods then, or on hols?

Alice Are you allergic to bees? As Bitchy says they're needed.

Not much flying done today, but out and about in fresh air and all that.

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 21/04/2014 21:40

Evening all,

Back from the ILs, have had a really lazy weekend, although DS got a bit bored at times (there really isn't that much to do at the ILs house). So, the DCs have had about a week's worth of screen time in two days as it rained most of yesterday. In between we did do Easter egg hunts in the garden, but not a lot else, just sat around chatting, watching telly and in my case crocheting, got lots done.

Got back about 2pm, having had a nice stop at a motorway services and found a geocache in the grounds, our first for a while. Been unpacking and mainly cooking since we got back, the DCs have got baking fever.

Been getting PE kits ready for back to school tomorrow - boo! Despite the fact that the DCs are arguing a lot lately we have had a lovely holiday.

Engels - congratulations, I really hope this one progresses smoothly.

Alice - we got a swarm of bees in the garden once, when DS was a baby, never seen anything like it. They all settled into a big ball in next door's hedge, they got a beekeeper to come and take them away. The jam jar wasp trap has never worked for me.

Newlark - what OU module are you doing? I've just finished two short ones (Understanding Autism and Forensic Science) and will be starting either 2x30 or 1x60 in October, can't decide which yet.
