Mad Fledglings March through the Spring cleaning

BitchytheGreat · 28/02/2014 20:40

So here we are, March already.

So for those who don't know the fledglings is a long running thread. Some of us seem clicky but that is because we have been chatting on these threads for nearly half a decade makes everyone feel old we quite like fresh blood though so feel free to jump in and join us.

Three key points to keep in mind:
(1)No perfectionism allowed - this is harder than you would imagine
(2)You are never behind just start where you are and anything you do is progress.
(3) It didn't get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy over night - accept it will take time to get on top of things and you will be happier.

If you are new then trying to spend 15mins decluttering and the babysteps is the most. Some of us Bitchy can have scary looking lists. One word of advice ignore them. Do what you can, anything is better then nothing, and don't judge yourself against others.

Grin Bitchy! Whoop!!

Mm, Wine sounds like a good reward, Toffee. Nicely motivating. Wink

Night all.

Swanhildapirouetting · 10/03/2014 23:15

very impressed by everyone's morning routine, and your plans for tomorrow Thinking
My routine seems to have condensed down to getting kids off to school, washed and uniformed, short driving practise and putting the laundry in, and hanging the laundry out. Everything else is becoming more and more moveable feast, and hardly gets done at all! Is this the beginning of madness or freedom Grin????

Anyway, I counted money and stamped envelopes until 1.30.
Short rest
Then went to parents' eve, leaving Dh in charge.

Ds1 had v mediocre results but we came up with some SMART targets to try and improve his homework. Teachers very kind and helpful, especially Maths. English teacher who wanted his guts for garters last term seemed more approachable this time. PE teachers very very encouraging about ds's progress overall, which matters a lot to him.

Back home to dd screaming about party arrangements. I think I am within my rights to refuse to allow 10 12year olds to roam about shopping zone unsupervised, and to think that this is not something you invite people to - I mean you can invite 2 friends to go shopping with you, but it is not a party that your mum takes responsibility for!!!!!! and which your poor mum has to sign her name on the dotted line toShock My friend pointed out that not many shops like 10 preteens swarming around and might suspect they were shoplifters Hmm

dizzyday07 · 10/03/2014 23:55

Thinking - My morning routine just consists of getting DD up, fed and taken to school! I don't have work to go to so I can spend the rest of the day doing (or not doing) whatever chores need sorting.

Ta Da

  • Bathroom cleaned x4
  • Hoovered through upstairs and downstairs
  • Covered veg bed with polythene (to try to help germination Hmm )
  • Tidied various bits and bobs away from random places around the house
  • Emptied kitchen bin and put out recycling
  • Put clean covers on the sofa
  • Swept kitchen floor
  • Towels washed and hung to dry
  • Swam 116 lengths (was aiming for 120 but ran out of time)
  • Made tea
  • Washed pots and shined sink
  • D/W put on
  • Ironed uniform/shirts for rest of week

We too had parents evening tonight and I came home a very proud momma. Apparently DD is a pleasure to teach and is making excellent progress. She is currently working at a Yr5 Level and could easily reach Yr6 level by the end of the year Grin

JustGettingOnWithIt · 11/03/2014 05:14

Thinking I get woken every morning by ds having SN problems, so get up and start at this time (ten mins earlier but I've posted here instead Blush) to achieve half of everything, and I still only managed to get a huge live Christmas tree down in Feb Blush thanks to illness, injury and life taking over.
We live complicated lives and are expected to achieve huge amounts. The 1950's housewife had a much less complicated life in many ways, if you think about it.
I don't normally post until I've achieved lots or the routine stuff, because otherwise I get distracted and acheive less.
On that note I must get on.

It's worth remembering though: Don't beat yourself up, there's always someone willing to do that for you.

feetheart · 11/03/2014 06:10

I can see you Buddha :)
How have you recovered from Silverstone? Are you up for any more races? I have just found and signed up for this one. Need something to motivate me although the weather is really helping now.

Back later after run and usual morning madness.

feetheart · 11/03/2014 06:12

Whoop Whoop Bitchy - hope he slept well under it GrinGrinGrin

ToffeeWhirl · 11/03/2014 09:16

DS1 has gone to the learning centre Shock. Crossing my fingers that he actually goes in this time.

JustGettingOnWithIt · 11/03/2014 09:28

Nice news Dizzy Smile

Bitchy yay! (quietly drills hole in new concrete corner and feeds s latest batch of found pine needles down it))

Swan beware the moveable feast. In balance it’s freedom, but it spelt the beginning of the end of organisation here.

WhoKnows worth shovelling vitamin C tablets down?

Toffee letting people know would require them to recognise real humans who have real needs, rather than being daily fail stereotypes, who they can get money for preaching to, and occasionally providing the odd bit of actually useful info.
Good news about ds, will keep fingers crossed.

Try and catch up with rest of posts later, off to rearranged course, wearing moisturiser and perfume in an attempt to remember myself in the middle of it all. bbl.

BlueEyeshadow · 11/03/2014 10:16

So I just looked at the mission and am a bit Hmm "Take your rugs, all the fuzzy stuff on your toilet, and the towels that are just for show and we are going to wash them." WTF is the fuzzy stuff on your toilet and who has towels just for show??

Anyway...
Ta da!
Laundry on line
Made it to school without any meltdowns
Pilates done
Cleaned laptop screen (bleugh!)
Cleaned French windows
Cleaned shower screen

Off to do the utility room bit of the mission and put the kettle on. Brew anyone?

ToffeeWhirl · 11/03/2014 10:48

DS1 spent half an hour at the learning centre Shock. Wow.

Blue - I think Flylady means this fluffy loveliness. My MIL has one Grin.

ToffeeWhirl · 11/03/2014 10:58

Just - good point. How dreadful Sad.

Have just had a call giving us a date for DS1's ASD assessment. I will believe this assessment - diagnosis or not - whereas I never had any faith in the CAMHS ones.

The trouble will be in actually getting DS1 to the appointment. I'm scared to tell him. Still, it's not for a while yet.

ta da

Loaded d/w
Phoned school about DS2 having day off
Made endless pancakes for DS2
DS1 to learning centre
Breakfast for myself (resisted pancakes and had porridge instead)
Rewarded DS1 for achievement by letting him spend an Amazon voucher he had (he bought My Little Pony Stuff ).
Admired DS2's Lego spaceship with square parachute and extra tall alien
Battled with emailing scanned document
Spoke to dr's secretary on phone
Spoke to MIL on phone
Warned DS1 he needed to do his Maths homework and has an online lesson later
Promised DH I would get my own work done - starting now....

Swanhildapirouetting · 11/03/2014 11:57

toffee fantastic news that he managed a bit of LC. Every morning when I drive ds2 to school, I think this driving is the difference between me being terrified of driving and getting better at it. Just little steps. Some days I can't manage to drive, some days I can, but it all helps. Also to remember that the driving is not the be and end of all existence, so even if I can't do it, I haven't "failed".
Just so right about organisation Blush However you do sound super organised! Good news about life giving perfume too, my latest legal high is Gucci Guilty, dd think it is heavenly.

done
bit the bullet and booked a Maths Tutor for ds1 at vast expense because otherwise this state of affairs (not being able to do Maths properly) is going to continue and he is going to scrape a GSCE, if that. His teacher said he tutored people from other schools and that everyone of his pupils would benefit from 1:1, he only said that because I asked him point blank if it would help. His Maths is very spikey, he can do ALgebra but not anything spatial Confused Honu I forgot! You are a Maths tutor!

BitchytheGreat · 11/03/2014 12:37

Hi All
Spent morning at the orthodontist with dd. Have been lazing since I sent her back to school. Need to get my arse into gear.

What zone is it? Bathroom?

PeanutPatty · 11/03/2014 13:59

Aside from feeding the minis, trip to the supermarket, toddler group, washing up and clearing up I've not done much else. Both minis are having a nap and I'm sat on me butt. There are tons of things I could be doing. I have a Masters in doing a Sod All. I really am that good at it.

Afternoon all. Have survived surgery. Cysts are gone although twas open surgery not keyhole as one was the size of a small child. And recovery more like 6 weeks not the two I was hoping for.

Pain is manageable with drugs. Still in hospital until tomorrow at least.

Take care everyone.
