Seriously dull. Vacuum cleaner needed. Tell me what to buy

I always buy shite ones that look nice or have some snazzy gadget going on. And they never last.

Hence need a new one.

I have just bought a dyson slim cordless.....I love it

After going through several fancy looking or sounding ones like Miele really quickly we bought a Henry and it is fantastic. 3 years and still doing fine - the longest one has ever lasted for us.

Sebo, had mine years and it's still going strong. And I recently discovered that I can buy bags etc in John Lewis so don't have to pay for delivery from Sebo themselves and any excuse to go to John Lewis, I'm there!

My Miele vacuum has been in the family since the 80's. It's starting to increase in value I am sure for being a collector's piece! It's big and boxy like an 80's BMW. If it were to die (god forbid) I'd just get another Miele no questions asked.

Gtech air ram. Its cordless and that means I can vacuum the whole house in about 10 minutes. Really cordless is the way to go which ever brand you choose.

We have just got a Miele and it is amazing but it is v heavy. Not too bad for us as we only have one flight of stairs but if it might bother you, pick something different.

You can get lighter models of the Miele. It is definitely my favorite as a cleaner. Henrys are good but a ward on stairs due to shape.

Why won't my tablet print awkward or I will say difficult on stairs!

My cylinder dyson has been going 11 years now. Still does a great job although could be better on pet hair (we have 3 so maybe I'm being unrealistic), I'm looking to treat myself to a new lighter model (DH struggles with the weight) and will be getting another Dyson and free cycling this one.

I did a lot of research into vacuum cleaners recently and went for a Sebo Felix from John Lewis. I've been really pleased with it. I'd have liked a longer hose but I know I can buy one of those if I really need to.

Hi, just popped over from Gransnet. Miele will collect and deliver, refurbish their cleaners and put in new parts all for around £90. Worth doing if you have one a few years old, cheaper than buying new. X

I love my dinky little lightweight Dyson DC24. Gets into all the little nooks and crannies.

We have a Hetty (the pink Henry) and its never had a problem yet.

I have the lightweight dyson DC24 too. Upright. I like the weight of it, and the 5 year warranty made it an attractive buy. Though the engineer has been out to fix it twice in three and a half years, I haven't had to pay for anything for it. It has enormous use. Was about £200 .
