your box for crackers?

Have been on the search for a box for crackers (as in salty biscuits). Currently our crackers are stored in a little plastic box. But I'd like something you could bring to the table. My dream box would be simple white ceramic with a wooden lid (Danish, minimalist) ;-). Did see quite a nice one but it had 'Crackers' written on it (I know it has crackers in it, I don't need a sign).
So what box do you have and do you like it?

I just use a plastic tub. I dont like it. I want one like you want.

I'd like one of those too, would it help me hide them from DS as well?

Mine stay crisp in a tin, and being a gold colour metal from Harrods, look ok on the table.

zumm when I read the thread title I thought you meant Christmas crackers and wondered who would need a special box for them. [faintly disappointed emoticon]

hehe Winkle, sorry to disappoint - I had similar confusion one christmas some years ago. "What do you need?"
"Crackers" I replied (meaning the things you pull). Guest turned up with assorted Ritz and etc.

Zumm, a tin should be fine crisp-wise; think of all the biscuits which have been sold in them for decades. A big one would do for big pull-type ones too as the gunpowder in the snaps would stay dry.

It would be nice to find a flatter, squarer box like the Nigella bread bin for crackers. Is that the kind of thing you were hoping to find? TK Maxx or HomeSense might have something?

Tins though, I haven't even found a good tin. But then again, I haven't been looking...think a tin is the answer. (deep, me)

I have a Jacobs tin from a Christmas present of cheese and crackers a few years ago. A pack of crackers generally lasts us about a month: they don't go stale in that.

I have a trusty Tupperware cracker server - grey and cream - which looks nice enough to put on the table :)

Strong - yes, saw that denby in john Lewis (as part of my search) - almost right but looking for flat container (needs to go in a particular place & this wldnt fit). Em - tin is prob the answer, you're right. If anyone has seen good tins for sale, let me know.

Mine is grey as I mentioned and has a divider. Don't know if they still do a version of it.

Oh you people, those have brought smiles to my face. I had given up all hope and resigned myself to my crappy gnarled old tupperware.

Lumpy the blue one is fab. OH NO, update. Just read customer reviews - seems to only hold one Ryvita sized pckt. Is that enough room? In an ideal world, I'd like a tin large enough to hold a variety of biscuits - more than one pckt of Ryvita. BUT maybe it's enough. AND the Jacob's one holds a large pckt. Important information this.

I can't offer any suggestions for your dream cracker box but I agree about hating the way they have to write on storage containers.

I can accept that having 'tea' or 'coffee' on identical non-see through containers might help but why do bread bins have to say 'bread on them or biscuit ones have to have 'biscuits'?

It provokes me beyond all reason.

And now I want a beautiful white ceramic cracker box with a wooden lid too. And a special Christmas cracker box.

SarahAndFuck - I completely agree. I think your concession to 'tea' and 'coffee' is generous - open the buggers and you'll find out what is within. I mean, how many identical non-see through containers do people have? I have two by the kettle - one has the elusive tea-bags, the other has a load of sugar for when we had lots of builders in. (Incidentally, these are white ceramic with wooden lids.)

Anyway, my rant is not quite over. There's one box, at our local dpmt store, (despite actually being quite cute in its bright-pinkness) that has 'YAY BISCUITS' on the side. Beat that, &Fuck.

Or is it that most people really do like to know what's where? My sister once gave me a set of (four) pasta bowls emblazoned with the word 'pasta' (many times over, in different boring fonts). And she used to be quite cool.
