Two adults, one office worker, one factory worker. Two children, one nursery, one school.

I end up doing 4-5 washes a week. Does this seem a lot to you? How many do you do a week for what sized family.

I still haven't caught up from Christmas and seem to have the washer on all the time and yet still have loads of dirty clothes (family of 5).

Weelady77 · 19/01/2014 16:10

Family of 5, 2 adults 2 teens (18,15) and dd (8)
I always do at least 1 load a day but sometimes can be 2-3 but that's bedding, football kits

CremeEggThief · 19/01/2014 17:57

4-6 a week, 1 adult and 1 child.

PogoBob · 19/01/2014 18:08

Every day, often twice a day. Office worker, SAHD, 3yo at school part time and walking 12mo

Mintyy · 19/01/2014 18:11

6-8. Family of four. No nappies. 8kg machine. But we all use our bath towel/sheet (ie. have one designated one each) for a week, I don't wash sheets and towels every day.

MirandaWest · 19/01/2014 18:13

About 3 or 4 a week I think. Two DC and me.

e1y1 · 19/01/2014 18:18

There's 2 of us and we seem to do about 10 :/

I've always had big capacity machines, in May last year got a 12kg machine and it's was great until it broke :(

Samsung are looking at refunding us now as it's taken 8 weeks and 5 engineer visits!!!

Anyway, got an American top loader now and it's amazing. As the full heavy duty wash for near enough 10kg laundry is 45 mins, not 3 hours.

Since 1pm this afternoon, got 5 loads done upto now.

I love it :)

I can wash twice a day, easily.

Towels, bedding, coats can be 5 loads a week!

Family of four.

Frontdoorstep · 19/01/2014 18:48

Family of four, at least 12 loads a week, maybe more cos if something misses the wash I just do another load. Not very environmentally friendly but on a positive note, I never have washing waiting to be done.

WhispersOfWickedness · 19/01/2014 19:04

8-9 a week here. 2 adults, 2 preschoolers who are incapable of wearing the same thing twice without it needing to be washed. I hope it will go down once they are both at school and able to wear things more than once, but it may be a vain hope Grin

susiedaisy · 19/01/2014 19:07

14-16 loads a week. 1 adult 2 dc. I only have a small 5kg drum so can't get a huge amount in each load!

LiegeAndLief · 19/01/2014 19:13

It takes me 4-5 loads just to wash towels and bedding once a week - maybe my machine is very small? It's certainly very old. Probably another 5ish loads on top of that. 2 adults, 2 dc both at school but small enough to make a lot of mess!

JenBehavingBadly · 19/01/2014 19:29

I wash towels and sheets on a rota basis. Mine one week and then DC's the next. If I did them all together that would be another load or two.

DwellsUndertheSink · 19/01/2014 19:33

I think I do about 15 loads a week. 2 adults, 5 kids, one of them a toddler, so 7 of us. Bedding alone is 3 washes. Towels another 2-3 (Swimmer in the family). And we have a 9kg machine.

Fantail · 20/01/2014 07:55

I do 1 towels, 1 our sheets, 1 DD sheets, 1 whites, 1 colours, 1 darks. I aim to do one load a day, but will only do towels and sheets if I can hang them out. Some weeks I will combine DDs sheets and white load. For convience all our sheets are white.

dingit · 20/01/2014 07:59

I have two Dc and seem to do more now they are older, pe kits etc. Also you can get a lot more baby clothes in the drum than teens!

farmwife · 22/01/2014 23:12

Can I revise my total please? In the past three days I have already done 7 loads of washing. I want to cry. Where does it all come from?

DeathMetalMum · 23/01/2014 10:44

I aim to do one a day for drying purposes (and putting away) but at the moment I am managing on around 4-6 a week barely. If I go two days in a row without doing some sort of washing I am behind majorly. I didn't do any monday or tuesday and really suffering today but can only wash as much as I can dry.

DeathMetalMum · 23/01/2014 10:46

Oh four of us but baby and toddler so some days I get as messy as the dc's do just by them putting their hands all over me.

MrRected · 23/01/2014 10:52

5 of us - I do 14/15 loads a week.

Artandco · 23/01/2014 10:53

2 adults, 2 children - 4/5 washes a week.

Saltire · 23/01/2014 10:59

I have neveractually counted TBH.
I have one load of 15 shirts, 10 white and 5 pale blue, every friday evening (School and RAF ). I also have one load of black RAF socks along with approx 4-6 pairs of black trousers and 2 each greena nd black sweaters. Every friday or saturday. Plus 2 loads of bedding every week.

Then the rest when I have enough for a load. What bugs me though is towels. it is never ending with the washing of towels

FlatCapAndAWhippet · 26/01/2014 11:21

One adult, one child. Three; whites, dark and coloured. Saturday morning.

Clarabumps · 26/01/2014 11:31

How do you manage to wash 5 times a week. Do you wear clothes over again? I have 5 in my house. Dp(works in uniform that get laundered at work) me(sahm) 3 dc (School, nursery toddler) I don't get them changed out of uniform after school/nursery to keep washing down. I do at least 16 washes a week. At least. Please tell me how you keep your washing down as it's all I seem to do.

RayPurchase · 26/01/2014 11:55

2 adults and one four year old in my house and I reckon I do 7-9 washes per week. Our washing machine must be tiny! Confused
