How long does a bottle of shower gel last you?

Just that really.

DH goes through a bottle approximately every 2 weeks or less which seems ridiculous to me. He showers once every day.

A bottle lasts me ages and I actually shower more often than he does Confused

DH has been using a bottle of Molton Brown shower gel since Christmas Grin!

I use soap .

ImTooHecsyForYourParty · 17/07/2013 18:19

About a week, but there are 4 of us.

trixymalixy · 17/07/2013 18:23

Same in this house. DH uses tons of it. Drives me mad. He totally lathers it up so he looks like a snowman. It's totally unnecessary and wasteful.

e1y1 · 17/07/2013 19:00

Not sure as we always have a few on go. To be honest I do use tons, I could honestly only get about 5 showers out of one bottle (and that's just me) whats even worse a bar of soap would only last me the same length of time Blush

e1y1 · 17/07/2013 19:11

On a side note, THIS makes for interesting reading.

FoundAChopinLizt · 17/07/2013 19:12

I don't use it. We have a bar of soap.

susiedaisy · 17/07/2013 19:15

1-2 bottles a week I shower twice a day! I always buy whatever's on offer and usually supermarket own brand!

PoppyWearer · 17/07/2013 19:19

DH and I have separate bottles. I have an expensive small bottle that lasts me ages. Weeks. I use it very sparingly.

DH has a large cheap bottle that lasts him about five minutes. He uses it to wash his hair too, although I have introduced him to the concept of shampoo. Grin

I used to buy him Molton Brown but it was a waste of money!

UnicornsPooGlitter · 17/07/2013 20:08

Poppy, DH gets his MB shower gel as a present every year. It probably works out at quite good value though - ~£18 for 6 months!

I buy him cheap Boots stuff otherwise (69p!). I'll ask him which goes further...

forevergreek · 17/07/2013 20:16

Dove bar soap probably a new bar every 3 weeks on average ( between dh and myself)

Iwantmybed · 17/07/2013 20:23

6-8 weeks. We shower every day but use separate bottles. Using the body puff means you use a small amount and froths loads. Even have DH converted.

poocatcherchampion · 18/07/2013 10:01

a couple of months.

Mooycow · 18/07/2013 10:16

We have the same issue in our house, DH and DS use the MAN SHOWER GEL in MAN size amounts, lasts fo a week . Me and DD use expensive xmas gift and a body puff and ours lasts for ages , I do comment about the amount of shampoo DH uses , considering he has less /no hair ,we wont go into that argument ??Smile

notso · 18/07/2013 10:22

If it was just me using it probably over 2 months for a big sanex bottle, but with DH and DC using it too just over a week sometimes two weeks. DS1 usually ends up leaving the lid open and it ends up spilling everywhere.
I want to find a pump bottle to decant it into. The DS's shampoo has started lasting ages since I started using the pump one.

I find soap is far too drying especially for eczema prone DH and DD.

JRmumma · 19/07/2013 17:06

A good couple of months between 2 of us. DH does use quite a bit at once but doesn't shower as often as he maybe should. I use it sparingly as i have dry skin. I also don't shower every day unless its hot like this and just use dove at the sink on alternate days.

MousyMouse · 19/07/2013 17:09

for dh and I a couple of months.
we only use it in strategic areas though.
the dc use their shampoo for bits and pits.

Wuxiapian · 19/07/2013 17:12

Still on the same Molton Brown shower gel I had for my birthday in April - have just under a third left.

My DH's Nivea shower gel lasts him about a month.

DS1 (almost 15) used Original Source which lasts about 2 weeks!

mrspaddy · 19/07/2013 17:13

We use separate bottles. DH is very sparing with his.. expensive stuff and showers twice a day. I use a puff and am happy to use a bar of soap. I am still using stuff for Christmas (teacher - got a lot!!) and got some nice mum to be sets recently.. so I have enough till this Christmas.. and so much moisturiser I had to give a lot away.

Probably a bottle a month for just me plus I use feminine wash too.

Yonihadtoask · 19/07/2013 17:17

Ages.

DS likes to use Coal Tar Soap.
DH uses shower gel all over (bald head)
I use shower gel usinga body puff, which means a little goes a long way.

I would say an average bottle lasts at least 3 weeks to a month. We all shower at lesast once a day.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/07/2013 17:19

A good couple of months with just me using it. We used to share Original Source till I realised it wqs aggravating my hand eczema, would get through about a bottle a fortnight, no idea what DH does with it. I use more expensive gentler ones now and have banned DH from using mine. I ought to switch to bar soap really, I use it for handwashing and find it much less eczema-aggravating than liquid soaps.

Woopdedo · 19/07/2013 17:34

There are two of us and we go through a bottle every 1-2 weeks. Both shower 1-2 times a day.

patchesmcp · 19/07/2013 19:29

So DH is not necessarily alone in his excessive use of the stuff. I'm working on trying to get him to use soap, but I've been unsuccessful so far.

Thanks for the replies Smile

I use far less since I got a bottle of Soap and Glory in a pump dispenser.

fluffydressinggown · 19/07/2013 19:37

I am so shocked at people going through a bottle in a week or two. I think a bottle lasts me a couple of months at least and I shower 1-2 times a day.

sparkle12mar08 · 19/07/2013 22:18

Probably 3-4 months at least. We each use about a 50p piece sized blob a time, the kids use about a 20p piece sized blob. Anything more is unecessary and wasteful. I also have a body scrub that I use twice a week instead, and that lasts me about 4 to 6 months.
