......where do you start? BlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlush

Btw - this is the oven which has recently packed up and we've decided to repair it rather than buy new. Am so ashamed of it, I have to take drastic cleaning action before the man comes to fix it. Help please........and it really is bad - no exaggeration Blush - oh the shame!!

In fact I really should have changed my name for this, I'm so embarrassed.

Excercise caution - I decided to clean our oven after it hadn't been cleaned for about 2 years. Used Mr Muscle etc and then followed manufacturers instructions to turn it on highest temp to "burn off residue".

10 minutes later the whole front door shattered and spent next hour picking up tiny lumps of glass & couldn't use it for a week until it was repaired at cost of £130.

SHould've just left it dirty

jamiesam · 27/05/2006 23:32

Do set aside at least 3 hours! I used Mr Muscle, but am not at all convinced oven floor is actually clean (either dirty or I have begun to wear away at the top surface of oven floor...) Rest of oven/hob was clean enough to eat off though!

wangle99 · 28/05/2006 16:58

Blush we bought a new oven.

sunnyside · 29/05/2006 16:21

Oven Pride - ours hadn't been cleaned forever put the gunk on at night and left it til lunch next day and just wiped all the crap out! Special bag to put shelves and side panels in. Fantastic! Couldn't tell enough people about it and made everyone that walked through the door look in the oven! Preggers now and so can't use the stuff and DH is too lazy, consequently NOONE sees it now!!!

Roobie · 29/05/2006 16:31

Can second Oven Pride. Didn't think the Lakeland one was up to much.

plummymummy · 29/05/2006 23:17

When I was pregnant I spent the whole 9 months nagging dh to clean the oven. Would he f*k. Now ds is nearly two and I'm ashamed to say it's only been cleaned twice. I have to clean it now though cos we're moving soon and I don't want to inflict it on the new owners in it's current rank state. Ovenpride here I come. Men don't notice dirt unless it's staring them in the face. Wish I had selective vision. Although I haven't done much about our oven the difference is that it niggles at me every day ("clean me you filthy b**h")whereas he is happily oblivious Envy

LadyWitchofWaterford · 29/05/2006 23:24

I've used Ovenu recently, very good, worth every penny.

I get mine professionally cleaned every 6 months and it comes up like new.Only cost's £30 and the chap does a fantastic job-takes about 90 mins.

I like the idea of a man in a van coming to do it, but one of my neighbours had that and the van was parked outside for all to see advertising the fact that she had a minging ovenBlushGrin

TinyGang · 20/06/2006 20:19

I've bought some, but it's still in the cupboardBlush Do you mean you actually have to do something with it?Wink

LadySherlockofLGJ · 20/06/2006 20:19

It will not load ............but rest assured it was sparkling.

JoolsToo · 20/06/2006 20:22

ah cod! thanks! you've made an old woman very happy Grin

Aero · 20/06/2006 20:27

Well, I've finally got the darn thing fixed just last week (cost a small fortune), so now just the cleaning to tackle. I don't think it's as bad as I first thought - having the door hanging half off and minging door seals make it look much worse imo. And so am going to give it a go myself before calling the heavies in.
Got a good excuse to go to Bluewater now and buy some sooper dooper oven cleaner which won't blow holes in my arms and I hopefully won't keel over with the fumes.
