......where do you start? BlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlush

Btw - this is the oven which has recently packed up and we've decided to repair it rather than buy new. Am so ashamed of it, I have to take drastic cleaning action before the man comes to fix it. Help please........and it really is bad - no exaggeration Blush - oh the shame!!

In fact I really should have changed my name for this, I'm so embarrassed.

i foudj it bloody hard work

Tommy · 26/05/2006 15:22

I used \link{http://www.ovenclean.com/html/home.asp\Ovenclean}
it's a franchise company. Had a young bloke who, fortunately, wasn't shocked at the state of my oven Blush Grin

Aero · 26/05/2006 16:24

Was that the Oven Mate cod which you found hard work?

Oh - it's almost payday - I'm leaning towards getting a man in.

I've got a box of \link{http://www.pride-range.com/ovenpride.html\this} sitting on my work top at the moment(and its been there for two weeks already) Anyone given it a go?

hermykne · 26/05/2006 16:29

link below

cod · 26/05/2006 22:32

yes

PinkTulips · 26/05/2006 22:36

just skimmed the thread so not sure if it's been mentioned but Cillit Bang Degreaser worked wonders for mine the last time i braved cleaning it (about 4 months ago Blush)

chipmonkey · 26/05/2006 23:24

Sugarfree, LGJ used that and posted a picture of her oven on Member Profiles. It was fabulous! Looked like it had never been used as an oven!

Aero · 26/05/2006 23:30

Where is LGJ these days - haven't seen her around - do you think she'd come over and sort my oven? Wink

Hmm - not like cod to slate a lakeland product (well, find it hard work, and I am not exaggerating on the state of my oven at all), and payday is edging closer..........

PT - thanks, but would never but cillit bang on account of their diabolical adverts!

vitomum · 27/05/2006 10:45

sanchpanch · 27/05/2006 10:54

mine hadnt been cleaned for errmmmmm 2 years, and i di it last week, spayed mr muscle oven foam in to it and left it for an hour, then it just wiped clean it was easy, and i wondered why i had left doing it for so long

saltire · 27/05/2006 17:28

this may have been posted, so sorry if it has, but soak your oven trays in the bath in a soloution of washing powder and water, works a treat

Pruni · 27/05/2006 18:03

Just out of interest, how often should one clean one's oven?

cod · 27/05/2006 18:04

twice a eyar

fullmoonfiend · 27/05/2006 18:09

I'm terrified of Mr Muscle after seeing a documentary (ok, scareumentary) where a woman had holes eroded into her arm by the stuff - WEAR RUBBER GLOVES!!

Distracted · 27/05/2006 18:12

I don't think Mr Muscle will work if it's really bad. I've always used Mr Muscle and hate the smell, you really feel like you're inhaling toxic chemicals, but although it got the sides of my last oven clean, it didn't get the oven floor clean, where there was a thicker layer of grease, that had dripped into a pool. I tried several times to get rid of that and couldn't on my last oven. Actually need to clean current oven, so interested to see what people think will work - will get some of the Lakeland stuff if I get a chance.

By the way, lining the oven floor with tin foil after it's clean is a good tip for avoiding too much grease next time Smile

ArseBiscuits · 27/05/2006 18:18

Ovenmate from Lakeland, very good and doesn't blow holes in your arms.

cod · 27/05/2006 18:18

or yer arse?
nic ename

PinkTulips · 27/05/2006 18:27

distracted, if you have one of those hob scraper things they work a treat for getting the burnt grease off the bottom

LadySherlockofLGJ · 27/05/2006 18:48

I found the thread about my oven in Members Profiles, but guess what ...........bloody archive is not working and there is no photo. Angry

But you can rest assured Aero, it works a treat.

octavia · 27/05/2006 23:06

ovenpride will clean it.if you have a dishwasher put the racks in there after you have soaked them in ovenpride over night, they look like new

Twinkie1 · 27/05/2006 23:10

You get these people round called Oven Nu and they do it all for you!!!

I heard it on the radio - sounded fab - but as I am the owner of a very new range cooker which I clean religeously with Fairy Power spray once a week I have neer needed their services!!! (just am suoper scared at ever getting to the stage where i have to use really smelly, burny stuff that turns all of the seal white!!!
