Welcome to the May Fledgling FLYers thread! :-)
... where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of and chatting along the way.

This little-and-often system is designed so that we can follow a series of steps and routines each day (which gradually become second nature) in weekly designated zones of the house; defining and minimising housework - which in theory should leave us with more time to do other, more interesting things instead!

At the same time it is intended to reduce that panicky "rabbit in headlights" feeling we get when we are overwhelmed and everything needs doing all at once.

To avoid being inundated with details, we advise not signing up to the Big Tent.

We are in the process of following Flylady's steps and routines using a three-pronged approach (dependent on the stage everyone is at):

  • start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

Flylady site is here

Don't worry if you are behind; just jump right back in and it will all come around next month again anyway!

All the links for the babysteps and missions will be posted here every day and we'll all be here to cheer each other on. Thanks to SC, Blue, Silvery and Goth for leading us through since January and for the brilliant OP I've just cut and pasted.

Quick update, while I have 5 mins

Done
Beds
Dd to school via shop to get a bottle of water
Back home via greengrocers
Hang laundry out
Take cat out
Litter tray
Empty bins
5 min room rescue in DD's bedroom
Vacuum round flat
Paperwork
Collect Dd, via veg stall for baking potatoes
Library
Supervise homework/spelling practice
Ironing

To do
Wash up /SS
Skype friend

Typical, got some potatoes and then decided that I really didn't want them Blush, so DH made a curry-RESULT.

I think it was to make up for him melting my cake box! It's fairly large, and so that it doesn't take up most of the worksurfaces he suggested we store it on top of the grill. Normally when he does see it and move it before doing toast, not today. Guess that means a trip to Lakeland Grin

I'm also going to have to get back on MFP, gave up when the parents came up and been a bit slack at getting back on it.

Thanks, Blue.

Sorry about the squash, Craft. You deserve better after your productive day.

Curry and trip to Lakeland - good result, Goth Smile.

Silvery - sorry it's been a bad day.

Have given up on tidying DS2's bedroom for today. Will concentrate on ironing and putting away clothes tonight , then tackle his room tomorrow.

Good evening everyone!
Hope you?ve all been enjoying the lovely weather today.
Swan, Goth, Crafts and Trazzles have produced quite sizeable lists ? well done ladies!
Toffee has been busy with visitors, but has a lovely clean house Smile.
PA also has a clean house, thanks to her lovely lodger!
Silvery and Bitchy had a tough day and have retired to the naughty corner with Toffee, Crafts and Blue. I suspect Elliepac is hiding out in there too!
JDub has noticed the dust showing up in the lovely weather. She can get plenty of tips from PA,WhoKnows,Doris, Silvery,Toffee,Goth and Blue who have been discussing dusting techniques ? the fat fairy would be proud of you all Grin

SC has been having fun with DD today! I know what you mean about spending ages prepping veg. I have a food processor on my kitchen wishlist ? think it would make soup/casserole prep much quicker? by the way I am keeping an eye out for you on MFP and for you too Goth!

I am joining the crowd in the naughty corner. Had a terrible run-in with a nasty parent at school today, and still amn?t the better for it. Sad
Waves to Engels, LPlate, Louise, Ellietrying, Ellesabe, Just and Honu and hopefully I haven?t missed anyone. xx

I don't want to talk about today. I just don't.

There may have been no flying. There may have been emergency mopping of a carton of pineapple juice during the day.

If anyone is looking for me, I'll be lying down having a fit of the vapours.

SC tonight I served a picnic portion of Tesco's moroccan couscous salad with the boiled potatoes and green beans and sausages. Amaaazing how easy it is to take something out of a plastic container and not do any prep at all and make Dh feel there was something interesting for supper unfortunately the children don't like couscous salad anyway I must try it more often Wink One of my summer resolutions was that I was going to enjoy cooking more in the new kitchen - I'm almost nervous about putting it to the test, although I have a lovely view now whilst I chop!!! There was a Piers Paul Read book called A Married Man (all dark and brooding 70's stuff) in which the first breakdown of marriage was signified when his wife prepares herself a baked potato with baked beans, adding sour cream and chives as a garnish but not to his plate!!!

Castlelough so sorry about horrible parent. I think teachers just become figureheads to parents sometimes, and some parents take out their frustrations on the teachers unfairly.

I'm still feeling shellshocked by the tutor's comment yesterday about ds2, in which she asked why he had been allowed to get to Year 6 without anyone picking up that he couldn't understand phonics, and that it was nothing to do with his handwriting Sad The problem is that he could always read, so I suppose it was missed that he couldn't decode.

done
today I upcycled dd's chest of drawers to my room
rationalized her drawers
completely tidied and gutted her room (quantities of sweet papers)
hoovered her bedroom and ds2 bedroom
finally read the dyspraxia report on ds1 from OT
Guides
supper
ds2 had two friends round which was a bit stressful as he paid not much attention to them
two more bags of rubbish out
litter tray
found a home for a kitten whose home had fallen through, for three weeks' time Smile lovely lady who is mother of ds2 school friend. Her last cat apparently died at the age of 22!
ds1 played in a Badminton match YAY at school
ds1 homework

failed
to call bank
go on errands
finish the tidying/sorting

Castle my relatively new food processor is also wonderbar, especially for things like gratin dauphinoise, carrots, grating, pastry, biscuits, or lots of onions. Not good for soup though, the water always comes out the bottom! I have gone off it since the builders though, I find it too noisy and it reminds me of the sound of drilling. Maybe the p & q will get boring after a bit and I will try again.

For some bizarre reason the Ipad won't let me load this thread again, even though it is short. So, I'm on my phone having retreated upstairs early because DH started torturing me by making toasted sandwiches on my fasting day.

SC - I do far less chopping than I used to thanks to Waitrose and their brilliant range of frozen chopped onions, herbs, garlic, ginger etc, not sure if such things are available in your neck of the woods though?

Not much Flying, work day, never mind. Night all.

This morning new kitchen looks distinctly scuzzy because I didn't clean it last night! A lesson that even a new kitchen needs maintenance Blush

Managed yesterday's list but there's no list today. I'm not flying. I can't be bothered. Just fancy hiding in bed all day. It's a minor miracle that Joe and I were up in time for the community nurse at 8am(!). And I'm shortly off to hospital for a scan of my gallbladder.

I know it's not the right attitude but flying can wait for another day. I'm tired.

Morning all.

{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}} to Trazzle, I've just caught up on your other thread. So, so sorry and I'm keeping you in my prayers.

Well, I'm all excited that my shiney new blog (as inspired by Blue!) has a follower. Given I only started it yesterday, I'm impressed. I do have a horrible feeling that she is one of these folks who follow you to attract people to her porn site, but what the heck; it's not like you can block them

Flying wise, yesterday was a bust. Today, I'm out to a friend for a play date (if work ever get their fingers out so I can do my job) and then supermarket in the afternoon. Hopefully some of washing mountain will be scaled and conquered Grin

Pouring with rain here so not the most thrilling of days, but that's life.

Hope you all have a good one.

GoingGoingGoth · 03/05/2013 10:02

Trazzle you have much more important priorities right now. (Hug) I don't think anyone here thinks cleaning comes first.

Finally got my work rota, so I can plan my summer.

And restarted MFP, no idea how to 'look' for people on it apart from through Facebook. SC Castle I'm just GoingGoth on it, if you promise not to point & laugh.

Not much of a list today as I'm at work right now. But no customers, so managers not bothered about me being online. Will probably try to clear some more moss away, if it stops raining.
