Has anyone found a good, cheaper, alturnative to finish dishwasher tablets?

I really don't want squeaky, scratchy dishes and have fallen for the advertising really (mug that I am).

Another one here who alternates daily between Tesco Daisy, and whatever of the finish ones is the most discounted when we need them. Or rather I combine a box of each in one box, and then just grab a tablet.
Don't like the liquitabs tho.

TomsBentPinky · 29/10/2012 14:34

what evers cheapest,

tescos daisy this time, work fine.

Littlemissimpatient · 29/10/2012 20:55

I tried them all and prefer fairy

educatingarti · 30/10/2012 21:24

Another vote for Aldi here. Oh and have you tried breaking the tablets in half and just using half. I so this unless I have some really dirty pans and it seems to work OK!

MadameCastafiore · 30/10/2012 21:26

We use Fairy - for some reason Finish do not dissolve properly in our dishwasher.

redandwhitesprinkles · 30/10/2012 21:29

Lidl here, Waitrose are pants.

PrincessOfChina · 30/10/2012 21:31

Fairy Platinum (but not the stinky lemon ones). We stock up when they're on offer

MrsDexter · 04/11/2012 16:27

Morrisons have the quantum ones reduced to £5 and amazon have a large pack for £10 reduced

pictish · 04/11/2012 16:30

I use the Lidl ones as well, they are fine. Wouldn't pay more tbh.

amazonianwoman · 04/11/2012 18:49

Another vote for Aldi.

MrsMiniversCharlady · 04/11/2012 20:51

Aldi. But you do need salt as well.

NotQuitePerfect · 05/11/2012 21:50

Tesco basics tablets but keep topped up with salt & rinse aid. Still tons cheaper than premium brands, and just as good, IMHO.

madamecake · 06/11/2012 10:00

I find home bargains often had finish tablets or fairy ones. Got a box of 28 finish Powerball tablets for £2.99 last week.
Failing that, another vote for aldi here.

SpookleDust · 06/11/2012 10:06

Aldi - their Magnum tablets won Best Buy for the third year running in Which?

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/11/2012 08:25

Tesco daisy powder here, one dessert spoon a day.

Poundshop own brand rinse aid

Aldi salt when it comes in.

I had 20 finish tablets as samples last year and couldnt tell the difference.

PigletJohn · 08/11/2012 00:03

Don't forget the salt! Even with multipurpose tablets, it help the machine work better and prevents limescale.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 08/11/2012 10:35

unless you don't live in a limescale area.

OatyBeatie · 08/11/2012 10:44

Why is it that tesco always have half a dozen brands at their usual (stupidly huge) prices and one (a different one each time) at a so-called hugely discounted price? It seems such an odd choice to offer us: "Do you want to pay silly money to stick with a brand, or join in a game of dishwasher merry-go-round?"

Other sorts of products aren't priced in this way. It is odd.
